McHale's Navy Full Episodes: Season 1x01 | An Ensign for McHale 11 Oct. 1962
Ensign Charles Parker (Tim Conway), newly assigned to the PT 73 crew as Executive Officer, is Captain Binghamton's (Joe Flynn) last hope to tame McHale (Ernest Borgnine) and his "pirates." Though Parker is unwelcome at first, McHale sees potential in the young officer, and orders his crew to shape up so that Parker won't be shipped out.

+Mick Sydney Love this show Mick, but did you know the ratings where not as high as they should have been back then? from what I hear. Couple of reasons, one of which, bad timing. Also, competition. some other reasons too. But I loved this show. The US Navy liked it because at the time, it promoted enlistments. Believe it or not, young men where signing on for the navy because they thought this was how the navy behaved, so they thought it would be kinda fun. Now, these where young kids keep in mind and they where just a little naive, & ignorant. You know how kids in their mid teens are. I think I heard all of this from one of the Ernest Borgnine interviews I saw. In my opinion, I don't think this show would have been as good with out Joe Flyn. I don't see anybody standing in his sted. Borgnine said it himself when they asked him to do another McHale's Navy move. He said "perhaps, but where are you gonna get another Joe Flyn?" and he's right, as good as an actor Borgnine is, he can't carry the whole comedy load himself. I mean really, Flyn was damn good at playing that part. The Best. Even to this day I don't see anybody playing the part of Capt. Binghamton. NOBODY. RIP Joe and Ernest. Yes sir Mick, they were the good days.

A Vietnam Veteran that I used to work on and off for over 30 years finally went to the VA and talked to a couple of other veterans and a counselor. He would never say more then a sentence or two about the war before that, and one day while I was at lunch on my shift and he had just finished his shift, came in and talked to me for over an hour about the war. He really opened up and became himself again. He got a partial disability too and a minor settlement that has really helped in his current retirement. God bless him and all the veterans, may you find peace!

Look up the works, if you can find them of Admiral Daniel V Gallery, such as Cap'n Fatso. His fiction relies heavily on McHale types and practical jokers. BTW, in WW II, he was commander of a hunter-killer group based on the escort carrier USS Guadalcanal. He actually planned, practiced for, and ultimately carried out the succesful capture of a German sub on the high seas, the first US Navy capture of an enemy warship by boarding since the War of 1812.. I actually met a guy who was on the third or fourth boat to board. Very much like his fiction, there was a twist. The sub had an Enigma coding machine. We had already broken the German naval code, and if they heard we had captured the sub intact, they would change their codes. They had to tow the sub back to the US through the Bahamas, where the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, considered Nazi sympthizers, were liiving. All of the sailors were sworn to secrecy, the Germans had to be held in a separate camp and, under an exception to the Geneva Convention, the Red Cross was not told of their survival After the war, Gallery got the sub sent to a museum in Chicag where it is still on exhibit.

If you watch the whole series you'll see Tim Conway grow from an aspiring comic to comic genius. On another note I had served and my time in service was more McHale's Navy than M*A*S*H*. God bless all vets.

I spent many days/weeks/months of last year searching for this ONE Fugitive episode (S4E11) missing from my old TV show "bank"! Thank you so very much for providing it and thank you for your time spent uploading as many as you have. We past 40's THANK YOU (and I'm thinking some young folks that never saw great actors is thanking you too)!

My father fought in the Pacific, but he never really talked about it, until the last weeks of his life. Now with McHale's Navy, I'm getting a sense of what he, of the Greatest Generation went through. Thank you for this.

I have no idea what branch of the service you were in, But in my careeer, in the Corps, we always managed to do both!! We have always excelled in Combat and numerous covert ops. And we always trained hard, prepared continuously in order to complete our missions. SuperSniperSal USMC Disabled Vet

I found that few 'inspection ready' naval units actually had their acts together enough to be top performers when GQ sounded for real, but the units that could be depended upon when the shells and missiles were flying had been too busy preparing for combat to be flawless in inspection. I had the honor to served in one of the latter, USS Caron (DD 970.)

Carl Ballantine was a well known magician when he wasn't acting Gavin MacLeod would soon be a co-star on The Mary Tyler TV show and latter command a cruise ship! Tim Conway of course would soon become known as one of the funniest comedic actors on TV. I remember when this TV show first appeared that some critics were doubtful that Earnest Borgnine, an Oscar winning dramatic actor could do comedy. It turned out he was very good at it and he is now more remembered for this TV show then any of the movies he appeared in !
