Thanks for the great video. Wonderful music, too. Brings back memories of about 15 years ago when I did this right around my 59th birthday. I've seen this called easy 5th class, but I didn't think it was that hard----- just a very long day. And a very beautiful day, too. You take for granted being able to do things like this, but even three or four years later, it would have been beyond me.
Really appreciate your comment. Means a lot. I’m certainly not young anymore and I feel lucky to be able to do this, so I’ll try to enjoy it as long as I can and capture/share such experience
To get up to Stone Man Pass there is the standard class2 loose gully option or the easy class3 ramp to climber’s left that’s more solid. The views up there are stunning and definitely worth a visit
I hiked to Frozen Lake in August, 2023, and that was enough for me…a person in his 60s. Upper Glacier Gorge is gorgeous. And the surrounding peaks look difficult, but you make it look easy! Another excellent adventure. Thanks!
You are knocking them out this summer. Congratulations! McHenry's is quite the climb. Thanks for the great video. Climbing down seems like it would be even harder with gravity tugging at your feet.
Thanks Vickie. Glad to get McHenrys for sure as I’ve been eyeing it for a while. Just returned from an epic 4 day backpacking trip to the Chicago Basin a couple of days ago. Next video will be long. Hope you will enjoy it
Very nice video, well done. You deserve more subscribers. I'd really like to hike out the Glacier Gorge toward the base of Long's Peak someday. Of course I don't have your ability to get out to McHenry's.
@@dr.nigelcool3771 If you are not familiar with the area: The Longs Peak TH off of CO-7 will take you to Chasm Lake at the base of Longs Peak, one of my favorite hikes in RMNP.
Thank you for this hike video and showing the route up. I've always wondered if I could get McHenry's Peak or not because I do not like a lot of exposure, but I am willing to try some Class 3 approaches without too much of it if it's possible.
You are more than welcome. Enjoy your videos too. I heard people say McHenrys is more difficult than the Keyhole route of Longs and I tend to agree. There are sustained class 3 sections and can go up to class4 or higher if not on route. You can try getting up to Stone Man using the route I suggested in this video and see how you feel. After that you can decide if you want to tackle the next challenge (getting up to the notch or keyhole) which only leaves you a couple of hundred ft from summit. Good luck
OK, a couple of things, great views and video, beautiful. If you were solo you are either courageous or nuts, probably both. Keep treking Ruggedland enjoy your stuff.
Thank you. I’ve soloed a bunch of peaks over the years and feel confident in doing so. I also enjoy climbing with friends which seemed to be what I did most recently
