I know that feeling, my Jake's didn't work on mine either when I got my coach and man oh man I was just as excited when it was fixed!!

The way he is working the steering wheel driving I would check the tie rod ends .

I was having mechanic troubles with my Dodge Pickup / mechanical Cummins, no one could do anything since its pre-scan tool age (1995). Found a retired mechanic, no problems now.

it seemed the front end was drifting a little on the drive, more so than other busses you've done that run in. It might just be my perception though.

Now that's how you drive a Detroit. Drive it like it owes you money! lol. Nice work Scotty.

The belly laugh and happiness of ownership that is restored to an owner who has been missing the joy of ownership..., is one of the biggest rewards you can get... it’s, possibly, more gratifying than getting paid... well... .....maybe, kinda close...🤷🏻‍♂️👍

I like mine so much I often catch myself reaching for the switch when I exit the interstate in my personal truck! It has a gas engine so no Jakes on that one. Great video. I'm falling in love with these coaches more every day thanks to this channel. I hope to own one one day.

The MC5's were so tight to work on

A guy I know that runs a 318 (8v71) in his log truck ran a regular Cummins type micro switch to the throttle lever on an L Bracket in his truck for the Jake so it worked like a Cummins, IE Would kill the engine if you left the switch on. He did it when he added Jakes to the truck but never changed to a standard buffer switch because it worked just fine.

I use the closed caption on these videos.. when the bus owner hit the jake brake.. the CC said (MUSIC) , I thought that was kool. An old mechanic (probably 40 yr old) told me 50 yrs ago when I was 17 & learning mechanical repair: He said "always check the simple s*** first on anything". Over the decades I learned he was correct.

Some older vehicles back in the 50s and 60s drove like a tank and didn't steer for crap sloppy steering boxs

When you were turning over the motor with the ratchet at 13:20, I saw a big chunk of something that looked pretty bad on the pulley.

I never turn my engine brake off...love the sound. I am unsure how fast my bus can go, I had to 81 once.

The giant exposed belt. What does that drive up above? I used to drive a Maxim fire pumper with 250 hp six cyl inline Cummins. The Jake had a three position switch, off, low and high. Saved a lot on the brakes. There is nothing like that sound. It was a handful to drive. Steer, Air horn chain, Left foot siren, Right foot fuel and brake, Jake switch, Radio. Glad it wasn't a standard. The old Maxim's with the Waukesha gas engines were.

That bus sounds great - like a sport bus. And the jake brakes just add to it!

The voltage on the voltmeter was 2.3V not 23V. Hope that helps.
