This is the McIntosh I am thinking of getting. Love that the tuner is onboard. Radio is not dead, just get a good antenna The only thing better is to get a separate McIntosh Tuner, but nice to have it all in one. That does look pretty massive.

Yep, this is the one piece to rule them all. The radio sounds quite nice, better than streaming IMO.

I used to demo a ton of gear in a hi end shop like yours. Is McIntosh worth the money? Well I think it depends on the size of you wallet. If you have money to burn you can maybe get a listening experience that you prefer better than McIntosh but like a new exotic car the brand will make a difference down the road in what you can recoup in resale. I'm glad you touched on that. McIntosh is very collectable and is hard to beat in terms of resale value. When you get into the upper reaches of HiFi you usually will loose your a$$ if you ever decide to sell because if someone has that kind of money to spend they want something new in a box but McIntosh will bring buyers that are willing to over extend themselves just to be part of that club. I personally find a ceiling to how good something can sound and if you can't tell the difference why spend the extra money? I can't imagine someone buying a McIntosh amp, pre-amp, cd player getting it into their home and not loving every note of music they listen too. I have all of maybe $1,500 wrapped up into my daily system and feel the same way. So how much money do you have to burn I guess?

If you make less than $20/ hour, don't think about McIntosh. I am happy that i have enough money to spend. They sound good, last long time, and resale value is good. What bad about it?

Hell, Clint - I am a recently retired audio archivist, [Library of Congress] . I recently bought a "gently" used McIntosh C 28 [pre amplifier] and a McIntosh MC 7270 amplifier [82 lbs. plus]. I am trying to locate a strong, durable/yet attractive audio equipment stand and am finding that the ones currently available will not hold an 82 lb. amp. My Technics R & B Series SL 1015 turntable is also quite heavy [like a slab of granite heavy]. Your video shows what appears to be a durable shelf capable of holding heavier components. Any suggestions/recommendations as to where one can go to locate heavy-duty [yet attractive] open cabinets such as what you are showing on the video? Looked at several others but the capacity tops off at 75 lbs. or less - - not strong enough for my vintage items. Hope you can help

Sure, it's called a Salamander Designs Synergy Core Module. This is the 31" tall model. The bottom shelf will hold that amp no problem. In my house I've got two 155 lb monoblocks on a triple wide version of this rack. They say fully loaded with the heavy duty caster wheels I'm using, it should hold 2000lbs. A single wide rack like this will hold less of course, but still plenty for what you need. www.salamanderdesigns.com/av-cabinets/synergy-core-module/

Hi Clint, what’s your thoughts regarding the Autoformer vs Direct Coupled McIntosh Amplifiers? Thanks Anthony
@35geovanni

Im thinking of buying one of their amps the mc255 , but also thinking of Rotel. Don’t know wich one to get. The Rotel is the RMB1585. Nice amp also . It’s just confusing.
@hwirtwirt4500

The term "receiver" is really archaic now and dates back to the era of when it took and entire chassis of components and circuits to receive and properly decode a AM & FM signal. Now it's just a digital module that plugs into an integrated amp like a D to A converter or other accessories. So a more accurate description of this product would be and Integrated Amplifier with a FM turner module.

It's funny you say that. With this piece I find myself listening to the radio a lot more. It makes radio sound so good.

Are you still using your Sony ES pieces at home Clint? How would you compare that set to this Mac integrated? I know the Sony A1ES is smooth, and the Z1ES has tons of resolution and detail. I wonder which is better. The Sony pair, or this all in one Mac?
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy 5 лет назад
I still am using the Sony pieces in my basement system, but I'd trade up in a heartbeat for this McIntosh Integrated. They aren't on the same level. This would just replace the Sony integrated, the music server is still needed. The Mac piece has gobs more power, a 32 bit DAC built in, and a nice phono stage.

norcos rockey The Sony A1 ES is a beast. It’s a 50 lb $2000 integrated amp and was Sony’s flagship when released. Silky smooth power and it looks great. They still sell for $1100 and are well worth it.

I currently have a pioneer SX 950 receiver and the speaker wires connect in the back with the raw wiring. It looks like the 7200 Mc would require speaker wire with a jack connector. Am I correct? Also, I understood you could only connect 2 sets of speakers to the the Mc. Is this correct?
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy 3 года назад
No, you can use bare wire also. (That's what I use) And you can connect two speakers to the back, yes.

Do I need to buy an external FM antenna for this, or does the FM tuner work without an external antenna?
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy 4 года назад
You need to buy an FM antenna. For some dumb reason they don't include one, not even a cheap FM wire antenna. They do include a nice AM antenna though, so go figure. If you buy it from me though, I do throw in an antenna, because I'm not going to send someone home without being able to use the tuner they paid for.

Hey Clint if you had a choice between going with that McIntosh 7200 or Parasound separates which would you rather
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy 6 лет назад
Oh, well that's a tough question. I've always loved Parasound, they're a great company that makes excellent value products and they stand behind them better than anyone. It depends on what Parasound pieces too. If you're talking a P5 preamp and an A21 (A great combo for the money) vs this McIntosh piece, I've got to go with the McIntosh. It's such a nice piece of gear, with every feature you'd need that will last you the rest of your life. Top resale value in the industry and the highest value Mac piece there is IMHO. If you're talking the JC-2 preamp from Parasound, there's probably a bit more resolution there with that combo. Ultimately it's up to you and you pocketbook.

McIntosh makes version without the tuner section for the international market which cannot be purchased in the U.S. Makes no sense to me.

Yea, but that tuner is nice though! Here you've got to go to the MA8900 to lose the tuner, but you'll gain a polished SS chassis and an EQ.

@@davidedutremblay5050 It is, but I has one years ago and it ran for 200K flawlessly. I hate the Chinese situation but I was cought needing a car. My Honda engine blu and I do not want another one. Volvo was the only dealer not jacking up prices, I know it will loose value faster. But what was I to do. Its nice and moves with a purpose. Yes, without contention I'd rather an Audi.
