McIntosh MR78 with MPI-4. A Match Made in Heaven. Best Tuner Ever? 

MR78 was designed by Richard Modafferi. I know him and he is restoring my Marantz Model 10. He is the best in tuners. Nice video!!!

Thanks for taking me back several decades. I was lucky enough to buy one of the first MPI-4’s, I actually owned their earlier version (MI2 I think) which was a basic oscilloscope….yet, pretty cool at the time. This went with my MR-78 & C28. & 2505. Teac Reel to reel, (large reel) the stereo in the walnut cases set the stage….the sound was pretty captivating. …Thanks

Please try to find an mr 67 to listen to compared to the later Macs . I think this is by far the best .

My dad has both of these units and an MQ101, a C28, and a MC2105. We have everything connected but it doesn't play at all. We disconnect the MPI-4 and the MQ101. And it plays. Weird... Boggles our minds. Any help is appreciated!! Thanks! Brian

I bought and returned an MR-78 a few years ago; I couldn't believe how rolled off the high end was for such a legendary tuner!
