Yes the host acted like she was telling how to do it and take credit. Really wanted to hear strictly from McKenna. Instead of saying McKenna explains to McKenna tries to explsin....
Love these nature Quilts - these are more favorite from McKenna Ryan - I try to do nature with animals and birds and i learned more today! Thank you McKenna and Fons too💚🧡
I visited makinna’s studio 10 years ago. Was just fascinated with her work. Bought the little jungle pattern and made it for my baby grandson. He would get so excited when we put him on the quilt. Thanks for the beautiful designs and techniques.
I do felt beaded and sequined 9rnaments and wall hangings with all kinds of snow village scenes and manger scenes which involve cutting out small to large pieces. I have done piecing with material using freezer paper and have done the decorative stitches on my sewing machine. Love what has been done with this work-just so beautiful. My granddaughter loves butterflies. I have the Flights of Fancy panel from Jordan's Fabrics to make hers with. I bought 4 panels and could do a layered look on some areas.
Gorgeous quilts and great tips! Sometimes I layer and quilt my block before adding the applique, especially if I am only making a single piece. Then I add the applique and tack it down along the edge. I like the tip of using monofiliment thread and making a simple straight stitch. Thanks for sharing this video!
Enjoyed this, sadly the presenter was over taking over to much. Was trying hard to take it all in but lost a lot with the talking over. The lady artist was amazing. Hope to see her again with more allowance to talk and explain.
That is one perspective. Notice McKenna was nervous. Never looked at the camera plus her neckline was red. The host was doing her best to help her feel less nervous. AND…it all worked out. When we’re nervous our mind can go blank. The bottom line…this was helpful and gorgeous design. TYVM for giving us more beautiful ideas to expand our quilting. Awesome! Awesome!
Love McKenna’s kits. I’ve done 4 wall hangings. I wish the host would let McKenna speak without being interrupted!! So thumbs up for McKenna but not the host.
I love to do applique quilts. I love your technique. I have had this idea of doing like a picture painting technique. You have done it! Thank you. Mine probably will not be as good as yours, but if it makes me happy, that is wonderful.
Mekenna you are amazing love your fabrics i really wanted to take everything in you were saying and trying to teach but the presenter, she just kept taking over interrupting you etc I’m searching to find you doing your appliqué elsewhere thank you
I can't watch this. Let the guest speak and explain. The host forces her to say what the host wants her to say, and tries to explain it for her. It's completely irritating.
I love the video thank you. I do have a beginner question. How does the appliques keep from fraying. Is it the type of fabric. Seems like if you dew around raw edges it would fray, so im curious about what i dont know.
just a thought: I would use a piece of parchment paper or the teflon sheet to cover the assembled work and then you won't be fearful of disrupting the arrangement with the iron as you heat set it.
I imagine you could use Heat n' Bond ultra hold. There are tutorials on RU-vid. Joan Shay has a book call "Petal Play" that has some interesting projects.
Love the quilt but major turn off with the constant interruption by the host. Would prefer her to introduce the guest and let the guest tell how she does the applique. It is very irritating to have the guest constantly interrupted.
McKenna TRIES to explain her technique!!!..... Is what they need to retitle this video to!! Sorry. New to applique and quilting. Hello Mrs. Host....PLEASE allow your guest to fully explain what she is saying she did. She rarely got to finish a thought or explanation. This is your channel. It goes without saying you have your way of doing things. But you invited someone to show what they do and know. HER thought process is important! It's so we understand her patterns. We didn't even get to really see how she sews or how she does her 3D butterflies bc you interrupted her again to show us her other work. It's all very beautiful. But I'd have loved to hear her finish how she attatched them!!! I hope she has a channel or other tutorials up. 🙄😒
@@karenrichardson6767 I’ve tried it with and without steam. I have noticed that when I repeat ironing the same pieces (when I add more appliqués to that area) that’s when the fusible weakens the most. Is that normal?
Yes the real small delicate pieces (eyes, etc) usually fall off and don't adhere to fabric so I sew them down separately. I don't use monofiliment thread. I like to create my wall art using different coloured threads.
Same question, thanks. The fusibles I have tried were all very frustrating to work with. I wish there was one I could trust to last through a washing. I recently bought some basting spray, and regretted it because it leaves a sticky film on everything nearby too. I would love to make a quilt to use on my own bed, but the idea of the raw edges makes me nervous. These are beautiful, but I would need more info before trying it.
My Janome machine hates mono-filament thread. I have struggled with tension, bobbins, needles etc. I've watched every You Tube video. Nothing works..so frustrating. I am currently doing a farm quilt. I have had to use matching thread and then tie off underneath. Long process.
I've learned to use polyester not invisible thread, called monopoly. I use Superior brand, but I'm sure there's other good brands as well. Slow down!!! It's key. I generally use a Metallic needle ... Hope this helps
I can't believe the host stood in the middle of the project and made the guest try to demonstrate from the side. The host also explained how and why the guest did things, instead of letting the guest explain the process. Not impressed with the host's style. I realize this is an old video and may not be relevant anymore.
Ms. Fons, you ran over McKenna so many times that the process was constantly jolted. Why don't you let the wonderful artist do her own thing with a few well crafted questions?
Omg! I came here to try and learn something about one of her patterns, and its not working! The host keeps interrupting, and talking about how she does things. This video is terrible.
