Also a video if there are any patterns over cars that eventually start appreciating (eg how many years before a car stops depreciation and holds, then how many more years before values start going up) ..would be interesting to try and predict when to buy a collectible car
About to close a deal on a 720s for 310k Canadian. But friends of mine are telling me to avoid the 720s as they were going for 260-280k last year. Now I’m having cold feet and thinking of cancelling the deal.
The depreciation from new is something that I still don't buy it, I mean are you including advertised price (usually MSRP) or actual selling price, for instance I bought a new 2020 car with a $220K sticker price for $190K, so far my depreciation is around $0-20K and not $30-50K
In many videos i show that the predicted depreciation from new is a good approximation for the actual depreciation. All the prices are advertised prices. This means indeed that for most cars, the selling prices lay lower. However, this applies to the full market and therefore it means a downward shift of the curve along the price axis. This affects the absolute depreciation per year slightly but doesnt really affect the relative depreciation.
