McLaren eyewear is a unique combination of sci-fi inspired design and motorsport technology, fused to create a truly incredible collection of glasses and sunglasses.
In this video we provide an overview of the collection, as well as reviewing several key pieces. Finally, we head to Scotland to road test McLaren sunglasses and find out what they are made of (literally).

Great choice of frames in the McLaren eyewear collection? I think we all want a pair now. Love your honest, detailed analysis of each frame. The outdoor shots, filming and scenery were absolutely amazing too . Brilliant video composition 👍 (Also love the soundtrack you wrote and I’ll definitely be checking you out on Spotify for sure! ! )

Thanks Robert. I'm proud of my work on this one, and had a great time creating the video. My drive through Scotland was one of the best days of my life. I love the feeling of isolation, listening to music, immersing myself in nature and driving fast! I came home with the soundtrack to this video in my head... only to find I'd lost my producing headphones! Which was confusing and saddening. I then had to remember it for a couple of weeks whilst I found the time to go out and get a new pair. Anyway, it's the final part of a collection of tracks I'll be uploading in the next week or so. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you! I personally read as much as possible from every source I can find. (Nowadays, social media is really helpful - follow as many optical companies as you can) I also learnt a lot from my family who are all involved in optics. And finally, travelling to exhibitions and manufacturers all around the world - if you have the opportunity - is extremely inspiring and educational. Surround yourself with people who are knowledgeable and listen to them.

From your Luxury Glasses Tier List video, it looks like McLaren paused production of all frames at around the beginning of 2024. That is too bad, I really like the look of the Ultimate titanium frame.

If you order online, are the arms easy to adjust at home to fit your head size? Which did you prefer? The G15 'outdoors' yellow mirror or the 'yachting' blue mirror for looking through? Pretty cool hinge design. Is this a first? Mimics the door opening on a McLaren sports car?

Hi Robert. By far, the Yachting lens. But neither blew me away. But don't get me wrong, they were good compared to most sunglasses. They are quite easy, you just bend the rubber inwards or outwards, but of course I would pre-adjust them for you! I can imagine the blue rimless looking great with my custom Reykjavik Eyes shape - as you can see in this video - ru-vid.comVfD7203mPNg with the same tint or even the Zeiss 'space blue' which is a 50% blue tint. (Even Adaptive Sun blue!) The hinge design in actual fact is also taken from Tag, but i believe is assembled in a slightly different way (because I havent seen the Tag version in 6-7 years so I'm not certain)

Hi Robert, my optician informed me that Mclaren’s rimless models requires a customised lens because the design of their models have a higher curvature compared to typical glasses. Are you able to advise if that is really necessary or can I just fit it with regular lenses? Would you also recommend trivex for these lenses? Appreciate the advice and great content btw!

Thanks, Andrew. Well it would be a real shame to fit basic lenses into such a great frame anyway, but your optician is kind of right. It would depend on your prescription as some lenses are naturally more curved.

Hi I have a pair of the Graphite printed frames (Mclaren - MLSGP001) I have a problem where one of the arms is loose and is not as stable as the other, is there a way of tightening the arm, especially as there is no standard screw to tighten? Thanks for any suggestions you might have or info to point me in the right direction to get an answer. Regards Mark

Hi Mark, your optician should have a tool to tighten the hinge. If they can't, it will be covered under warranty from McLaren as long as you purchased from an authorised dealer

Hi, why don't you review Persol Sunglasses ? They aren't worth the money they charge for it ? What you do think of them ? They have a dedicated offcial site in my country but it doesn't have any option to add to cart or place order. Neither it shows any pricing info but boasts about free shipping. 🤦 I tried contacting them through email on their UK or US support but haven't received any reply yet. In fact i did DM on their twitter support page also but no reply. Seems they aren't even interested in selling their products here !

Hey, I don't review anything by Luxottica mainly for ethical reasons but also because their quality is terrible. This includes many maintstream brands like Persol, Ray Ban, Oakley etc

@@thespectaclefactory i thought Rayban, Persol and other brands from Luxottica are of better quality and build as compared to designer brands like D&G, Armani, Prada etc. They were popular for specialization in eyewear as they don't make any thing other than eyewear. Could you please tell me on what basis you consider all these products from Luxottica group as terrible ? It would also help me a lot in finding better quality sunglasses available in my country.
