This was a huge mistake by Mclaren. Should have given him one more year with the new car

@@johannschunemann713 I don't believe this will happen, although I would love to see Daniel racing in a Red Bull. Checko is a great No 2 and has accepted this position in Red Bull and is happy. For seeing Daniel racing next year besides replacing a sick driver it might only happen in Alpha Tauri if Tsunoda doesn't improve or if Nick doesn't deliver.

Danny is back at Red Bull (reserve, sim, test and showcase/event driver) and to be honest that family fits him better. McLaren is too stoic and serious for a person like Daniel, too corporatesque in a way if that is a word. Where Red Bull seems more of bunch of mates that are fighting for a common goal.

@@LogiForce86 I honestly don't know where you got that expression from. Red Bull just seems like a very toxic environment. Don't know why that would fit Daniel better. Yes, he had is most successful times with them but he also left them for some reason. I think it is probably the right decision if he wants to stay in the game but I just can't agree on your observation of the mentality of the teams (obviously neither of us will know for sure, because they only let us see what they want us to see)

@@resathe6760 Impression you mean instead of expression. Also Daniel left Red Bull because he felt put aside by the team and not because of Max, hence they are still close mates. That reason in itself can be talked about but also Daniel leaving gave him a chance to sort his feelings and mature further. As far as Red Bull being toxic, I disagree. I see a very performance focused team that expects 110% all the time of every employee. This raises the overal level of performance of the team which not all employees drivers, engineers or others can meet, at which point they will be replaced. It is a tough workplace but you do have to see it for what it is.

@@LogiForce86 And how did you get from what you just wrote to that they are a bunch of mates? They are successful and focused but how that makes them less serious than McLaren I don't get. And I don't know where I said he left because of Max. He left because the team (at least in his opinion) favoured Max over him, which they have done ever since to all of Max' teammates. And I'm not saying they aren't allowed to do that or even that they shouldn't do that. He is their best chance of winning and they would be stupid to not favour him. But recent events also support the impression that Max is a bit of a one man show and not a team player in any capacity. And I'm not sure letting him get away with it won't bite them in their arses next year. I think he is a great driver and I like his friendship with Daniel, but I don't really like him as a person (as far as one can speak about that without knowing them personally).

McLaren didn't release Daniel because they didn't like him as a person but you probably know that. Everyone is disappointed that it didn't work out.
