George, you are so calm and educated in your field . My late Mother in law and I watched you diligently and I feel closer to her when I watch you now. Thank you for your channel!
George: You’re the best!!!!! You stay focused and educate! I am tired of “resellers” who waste time talking about their families and problems in their videos. Go to a therapist and keep your kids out of the videos. Please:: give your family some privacy!!
I thank you for that and I’m glad you get what my emphasis is! I have people at home to talk to about personal problems. I don’t mind the kids if it helps get them interested in old stuff (my parents took me to antique shops starting age 10), just let’s focus on the things we all like together
I love this video. I’m always happy when you are taking us along for shopping in the PNW. I am pretty partial to Oregon in general and Portland in particular. Also, thank you for the good deal you gave me on the green acrylic grape cluster. It arrived safely and I am very pleased with it! 🙏💚💚💚
I do really enjoy the Northwest and it's great for antiquing and vintage! I'm so glad I could pass on the grapes for a good price, I'm shocked how high they are in some stores now
@@TheAntiqueNomad Your reply helps me understand my dad lol'ing at that tv series. 📺 (We bought him VHS episodes, for his retirement.) His grandparents, and father farmed, therefore, his upbringing was akin to that book . . . will see if it's at my library, or will order it. 📚
@@TheAntiqueNomad I loved it also! George I have felt like I have gotten to know your mom a little because of the delightful little stories you share! That is why I wanted one her cat figurines to have a home with me! 😻
George, I really think this is my most favorite place that you have been too. I love everything about it. I love the 50's. 60's decor. Thank you for what you do. Makes me want to open a booth! #lovethe50's
Rats! I had a friend who had a travel agency . Back in the 1990’s. Only if I had known … But he did manage to get me great tickets to see Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones .
Student driver: Yes! Hubby and I, here in Joplin, MO, were just talking about that Sunday (8/18/24) 😅 Times being what they are, we figured they’re saving money sharing a car.
Thank you for all the great content George! ♥️ Would love to see a series from you where you just sit down & talk about a specific categories, companies, design styles etc! 😊
George, you're my #1 reseller channel. Shout out to my other fave channels - Part Time Picker/Homeschooling Picker (Kayla & Matt), Follow That Bug (Kate), Pro Picker (Dustin & Jess), and Laura Caldwell. Just my personal tops. There are others as well. I'm subscribed to all these channels, and also Like all their uploads. Thanks George et al!!
Thank you for letting me tag along with you. I am going to have to do some traveling one day to get to all these places you show me. You are a complete fount of information and you don't mind sharing with me. Have a great day and safe travels
As always thank you for the laughs, I knew it was coming.. That first store had so many gorgeous items. I think I loved everything in there, and it was so colorful. I would love to go in there on a raining day.
George, I love your videos. You never fail to teach and inform us of something new and old. I wished that you put that small square shade on the top bulb of the art piece . Thanks ! 😅 ❤❤❤
Good evening, George. Those fishing floats were great. I'd like to have some of them, in different colours, to group together as a display. Loved the Chandler watercolour. The chess set, on the teak table, got my attention. I wish I still had all of the chess sets I used to have. That feather hat looked like it was about to lay an egg 😂 Those post-mortem cards can be super-expensive, especially from early C20. I would probably had to buy the tape measure, with the old fridge on it. I really liked that one. The Nippon mug, with the deer on it, would've definitely come home with me. Loved that! I'd hang the old checkers board on the wall. I used to have a 1940s Chinese checkers board that I framed and used as wall art...sold it...wish I still had it. I also had a 1940s Monopoly board that I used as wall art...sold it, too 😑 I have one Blenko beverage set - a juice set. I really like it because it doesn't have that pinched, funky-looking ice lip spout on the pitcher. I'm not too fond of pitchers with ice lips, but I do have a very minimal amount of sets with them. I'd like to find a complete, 1920s Betty Bright aluminium lunch pail...that I could afford. Those were fun places, with several items that caught y eye. Thanks for taking us along!
Hello there! I really enjoy the floats too. I remember as a kid we could find them on occasion in Puget Sound, and definitely at the Washington coastal beaches (along with lots of Japanese trash that floated there too). That hat was not meant for most people! I like anything with a monitor top fridge, except a monitor top fridge itself...I never wish to move such a beast ever again. I thought well of the Nippon mug too...like the checker boards idea...I will have to look up that specific lunchh pail but I can picture it in my mind's eye. I have a Blenko twin-spout pitcher for the same reason! Glad you had fun and saw a lot in this one.
@@TheAntiqueNomad If I was somewhere those floats washed up on shore, I'd probably have them hanging from the ceiling 😂 I'd never be able to leave even one of them. I certainly agree with you, on that hat 🙃😆 I used to work with a guy that restored the old monitor top fridges. He would remove the panels and insulate them with foam insulation, and, once fully restored, they worked beautifully. They do, though, weigh, at least, half-an-ounce 😉😫😅 I don't see many pieces of Nippon with wildlife decoration on them, so that one really appealed to me. The R S Prussia pieces, with wildlife on them, still command really good prices. I have a couple pieces of Betty Bright aluminium - a cocktail shaker and a cream bucket with lid and a wood knob . I'd like to find some cordials/cups for the shaker, too. I think the lunch pail came in three pieces. It seems the Betty Bright aluminium isn't too easy to find. The cocktail shaker I have is the only one I've ever seen, and the cream bucket, with the wood knob, is the only one like that I've seen, too. I wonder if most of the pieces were donated during WWII, since it was made in the 1920s.
This was a GREAT video George! The passage from the book was quite funny! As far as the “student driver” stickers, I’ve seen them a lot in the past year or so here in Maryland and have taken notice that the drivers are NOT new to the road! Maybe they once were driven by a kid who’s flown the coop! Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge, as usual, on this shopping trip! My favorite part was the collection of Hawaiian pieces! Aloha!❤
Oh, gosh, I remember wearing clogs in the 70s! I don’t know how many of the Dr Scholl clogs I bought - and we thought they were comfortable! No way would I buy wooden shoes today 🙄. Sometimes these videos are like a trip down memory lane. I have the Lane Acclaim table you passed. So many dishes I remember seeing either in my house, or a friend’s or relative’s. Great video!
@JodysGems didn't dr schools have a wood, one strap "sandal" too? I couldn't wear the clogs because of a birth defect causing weak ankles and I couldn't wear many shoes with much of a heel. I did wear the ones with the one strap because they were lower heeled. I loved those shoes! I'd never be able to wear them now.
Hi Thank you for Sharing the antique stores in Portland,Oregon. I don't get to that part of Portland maybe with a friend. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
Hi George great video and so interesting. I have a parrot jug that was made in Mexico and i believe is tonala (sorry if spelling incorrect) it has the signature Vicman on the bottom. In all the videos i have watched i have never heard of this name. Have you heard of him. Thanks 😊
Thank you, I'm so very bad with accents and ethnic words, the product of phonetic instruction as a child. Blakely glasses, yes, they originally came with a wood tray too
My great uncle used to make the Tin Man because where they lived out in the boonies of Oklahoma they had to burn their trash. He used the cans instead of burning them
I always was confused by that, it’s a region in China that was possessed by Japan during wwii but then it was still shown as a region on maps once China got it back
Hi George! We follow the Grand Prix circuit and love those posters. Greetings from Michigan! 9a and David. P.S. That 70’s china is awesome and I have several sets - Franciscan and Block.
Did I hear "Trader Joe's"???? 😂 I'd have said it, too. I believe that a majority of those fantastic posters are reproductions. If they are originals, they are an absolute steal, especially with frames.
Yes, I was a gallery artist in my 20s back in the 1970s. All my wirk was signed. But it's important to remember that these old things were made by resl artists and artisans, even if we don't know who they were.
@@mdsfo I understood they were real artists and artisans, I just don’t understand why they did not sign them when most did. I do not know of a circumstance were they were not allowed too but it is a possibility.
I’ve been selling vintage Florida Table Cloths in my booth in Lake Wales (home of Bok Tower) for $125 lately and they don’t last long. They are getting harder to find and when you do lots of times they are too stained or too far gone condition wise, sadly
I tell prices on some things but not all when I’m showing a retail store because I like for the emphasis to be on the item and why it’s desirable more than just on whether it’s a bargain or not
