2022 Oct. 07, Fri, 70F -- Just want to share this happy daytrip we did to Mdina and Rabat from Valletta, Malta. With careful and forward planning, we did cover both beautiful places in about 4 hours by foot. Mdina is a small, fortified hilltop city best known as the "Silent City" with a low census of about 250 people living within the walls. A major tourist attraction per se, making it a lovey place to visit during the day. Once tourists start to leave the place, quietness rules in, making it a Silent City. Stepping through Mdina's medieval gates and narrow alleyways is like stepping back in time. Rabat, on the other hand, is a working town just outside of the fortified city of Mdina. Nevertheless, Rabat boasts some of Malta's important and interesting ancient palaces and Christian sites worth visiting. We did enjoy this short daytrip and hope you, too, like it.

Thank you for the excellent video. I was fortunate to live in Rabat for a year back in 2015 and this brought back many fond memories. I never got tired of walking these beautiful streets with so much history and meeting the locals. Of course being on the doorstep to Mdina was a bonus and it was the place to go for a bit of tranquility. Makes me proud of my Maltese heritage.

I'm so glad that you like the video. Sometimes we all feel like to be alone in life, and Mdina/Rabat is exactly the kind of place where one could find peace and comfort away from the hustle and bustle of city life. :)

@6:57. That bar, "is-serkin" is very famous with the Maltese. Its name signifies the Maltese word for the horse drawn cart. Every year horse drawn cart races take place on that very street which you'll notice is significantly sloped.
@ONEJOURNEYONESTORY
@ONEJOURNEYONESTORY Год назад
Yes, George. How could I not remember is-Serkin? We failed to get a seat for beer break. What day/month of the year is that horse race? Thank you again for sharing this info. :)

hi where is the grotto of St. Paul located ? thanks
@ONEJOURNEYONESTORY
@ONEJOURNEYONESTORY Год назад
Entrance to the grotto is through the church of St Publius, which is a smaller church annexed to the Basilica of St Paul. And I believe, it is also connected to Wignacourt Museum. Hope this helps. :)

Interesting, but the filming doesn't give the viewer time to take in details: too rushed.
@ONEJOURNEYONESTORY
@ONEJOURNEYONESTORY Год назад
Yes, Richard. I saw this problem coming. There are so much to show and tell in a given 10-12 min long video. On the other hand, longer than this may not keep audience attention and interest. It's a catch 22 here. I'm really not a serious filmmaker but I'm learning. Thank you for your input. Happy Holidays to you, Richard. :)
