Good stuff Jimmy! I think you need a training partner though. I've seen some YT videos with Daigo playing with others pros. I think it really helps them. If I remember correctly, this was actually your advice to new players - to find friends willing to play SF5 with them :)
MDZ Jimmy I really like the way you play with Ryu, but when you play against Ken you should adopt a strong fireball style. I’m a Ken player and I feel Ryu is really annoying when he uses his zoning game, this is in reality a bad matchup for Ken.
Fellow ken player here, been saying this ever since ryu got the buffs to his zoning and I've seen jimmy completely zone out ken players it is a nightmare to play against almost as bad as the guile matchup which is damn near impossible with a decent guile player who zones.
@@dwaynemcfadden731 I feel the same ...until and unless we don't know the opponents guile gamestyle it seems impossible to close range with guile and win. If you are a ken player ...you really have to have a fucking god like reflex and be smooth with all his crush counter combos ..only then you can play against decent Guile and Ryu ..not to mention there many more bad matchups for ken. Karin on the other hand is a nightmare for me .
I think Jimmy takes a long time to use the bars in combos, for example at 3:50 mana he used a random shoryuken, I think the donkey kick ex would do more damage and put more pressure on mana for his mistake but you only used a tastu to change on the side and right after you wasted an ex fireball on the neutral when there was nothing guaranteed, I think that at this level you can't keep a bar. in your lives I notice that in situations that could stun or kill but you don’t use it because you’re in control of the match I think, that wasn’t the case with this last round. but does anyone think the same? or am I crazy I'm a big fan of Brazil sorry for the english kk
Hi Jimmy! I'm new to SFV and really enjoy your channel. Throughout this set, I was incredibly surprised to see neither player used a wake up EX DP. I understand that this option can be incredibly risky because you'll eat a full jump in combo or a crush counter punish, but I am just REALLY surprised that neither player decided to use it, especially when both players were covering wake up options with meaty throws and buttons. Do you think you could comment about why neither player used this option even one time? Using it AT LEAST ONCE in a match makes your opponent have to respect this option, right?
Im not jimmy, but i can help you with that! there are late crouch techs and shimmies in this game, i don't know if you've heard of it, but it's very good against wake up EX DP. Using EX DP on wake up only works if your opponent presses a button once you wake up, or if he isn't blocking (which can be the case if he "wake up grabs" you). So yea, although it does fairly good damage, EX DP on Wake up is kinda risky, leading to a combo that deals more than 350 damage (if the opponent punishes your EX DP) with one bar spent only, which is super risky and may cost you the match. EX DP does 150 damage I guess, but if the opponent shimmy's you (when you bait the opponent into pressing a button when he wakes up) he can punish your EX DP, with the damage i told you before. I don't know if I explained the best way I could, but if you have any doubts, just let me know!
For those who think the ken is bad you are wrong. it’s all about mentality man, you can’t be the best ken player if you only got good hit confirm and footies, you need to be knowing your opponent’s mind. When jimmy doesn’t check his minus 2 he be knowing jimmy is scared of his Dp therefore he always wake up buttons cuz he knows jimmy gonna delays meaty to cover exdp. That wake up down mk tells everything.
love ur content jimmy, u give us ryu hope lol but so kool, ur my hero in a way, when i frame trap someone in the corner i call it the mdzjimmy special light kick light hado then dp, thank you keep being an amazing inspiration, love the twitch stream aswel
Don't be so modest, if the sitck had worked well, there is a chance that at least one move in one second would have go differently. And that's maybe the difference betwenn win or lose.
He checks jimmy with some dumb Vs l skill running and not getting any punish/check, so he could play that bald because he knew jimmy is scared of his randomness.
I've always been extremely comfortable playing on pad in tekken, but before sfv, I've always tried to use stick for SF because of its 6 button layout. But when I bought a HRAP4 in 2015 I think it was when I bought my PS4, I barely used it at all. It remained mostly untouched for years until Tekken 7's release in iirc summer 2017. But when I decided to bust out my still basically new HRAP4, its X button didn't take long to need replacing, so I thought "OK, I'd better mostly use pad because I don't want to wear the HRAP4 out." But when I finally did try using the stick again, again, barely used, I kept getting button I put errors. So infuriating! Again, it was barely used! So I've become a completely exclusive pad player. I'm tired of buying new sticks. After the PS5 is released, I'll buy an entry level stick and see how I do on it. I've always been a hardcore arcade goer so I'm fine and even often better on stick but yeah if they're going to keep on breaking I'm out. Have you heard that a lot of sticks have like a built-in timed obsolescence? They actually are meant to break based on real time, not how much you've used them. I really think that must be true because I've spent lots of money over many years on sticks over the console generations. I have a mountain of old sticks that are mostly broken. That said, yeah, that Ken was obviously amazing.
Man, there's no way those run cancels were real... were they? Feels like the Ken player got away with murder numerous times. I suppose playing at an event, online or not, is always more mentally taxing.
Thats the second match i watch and the opponent got the read that you wouls not pressure on wake up, he got the first round with this and the last round two, maybe you cover too many dps jimmy
I am a ken player ..I always cry like a crybaby every time when I loose against a Ryu player ...complaining about Ryu's reach his damage and his crossups ..but damn ken is all about momentum based. MDZ Jimmy I watch your videos ..altough I hate Ryu alot ...but I love your game play. You make Ryu fun to watch . It's time for me for some more training with ken 😊
@@aweigh1010 ryus normal cr mp has far reach ...cr mk has far reach st hp mp has far reach ...his hadouken are faster than ken and quick recovery compared to ken .
Ah yes the normals that lead to nothing and the amazing fireball. Please come back and cry about it when your character no longer has full screen conversions and *actual* mixups from overhead and vskill
Ken has: 1) Better corner preassure 2) Better tick throw setups 3) his sHP better for fishing counters 4) 3 frame tatsu with throw invincibility. Can cross up, can be cancel into Vt 5) Full Yolo Screen Tatsu that hits also Crouching opponents and it is just - 4 on block. 6) Insane FDash 7) tricky Overhead 9) The best: Lag magic, the game cannot handle this char 10) Can combo tatsu into shoryuken without spend bar. He is closer than Ryu to be Akuma.. With Ryu Not Crossup tatsu, no hitting Crouching opponents, neither Vt cancel after Shoryuken nor after tatsu. (no Vt Special cancel only ex hadouken, his VSkill sucks (doesn't give enough rewards, why they didn't give him vskill cancel like focus attacks after certain ex specials). His preassure ends quickier compare to ken's. No Yolo Tatsu, Fb game sucks, his cHP trade most of the time. We can continue comparing and it is sad for Ryu. We main ryu and with have to overcome all those weaknesses. To sum it up. RYU IS TOO HONEST.
@@mdz_jimmy I know you are being kind to the players around you, but you can't just ignore the fact how bad that ken played. He did Chin burst into his V-Skill, over that the was using risky DPs. So you still think that Ken player was good?? I mean I am not a master league player. I am WAY behind it. So maybe I should not speak but.... Tell me.... Are you really thinking that way???🙁🙁🙁

@@cthulhucalled3918 That is true that being the best ken player doesn't mean best execution. But anyway, that doesn't make my point any less valid in the end. But sure, people play however they feel to play and so I am no one to judge it.
3:13 Blaming the stick really? Smh. Funny how your "stick issue" only happened during a clutch moment in a CPT online match and none of your other streams
my microswitches did have issues and it happened to start at a cpt match yes so what? they die for me about once a year and I always have replacement parts ready to fix issues like these immediately. the issue didn't impact the result of the match so I'm not blaming my stick for anything here lol watch the VOD on twitch, I kept getting accidental dps on the right side in ranked right after the tournament ended.
Really hate ken players. Corner pressure is still cheap as f***! And they do some random shit all the time, even high ranked players. Like this guy was waking up with buttons and tatsu and shit, even in situations where he is minus! Too bad the match was only 2 out of 3 😕
Walter Lam You only have yourself to blame. Half the shit he does is minus af but bcuz you either haven't learned the match up or is in a state that can't punish him properly. Jimmy obviously succum to the latter.
The reason to it because ..ken is momentum based player ...if you notice all ken players are aggressive leaving kenpi ..he is the only methodical ken out there amongst the pros
@@mdz_jimmy Jimmy...I've watched endless SF for 20 plus years, and I've never...and I mean never heard anyone blame a loss on a microswitch. Come on man, how about GG's and move on.
