Took a lot longer to make this one since I kept getting pilot sniped by the bombers xD. I really like how the video turned out though! This is also a start of a new series! This series is going to have a focus on "realistic" missions. Decided to make it a stand alone series so people are aware that these aren't crash compilations. So if you want to see a specific mission, make sure to let me know!
German infantry joke near the end of WW2. "You see that silver plane up there?" "Ya!" "That is the Americans, you see that green plane up there?" "Ya!" "That is the British, you see that plane over there?" "No...I see nothing!" "That is the Luftwaffe."
The B 25 just don't have the weight of a real b25 when they begin to break apart... They start doing loopty loo's that wouldn't happen with a plane that size... I wish they would do a pass on the bombers weight and flight characteristics.
depends how high they are flying. I find the Ostwind is better for bombers than are quite high. Either that or my sturmvogel - first time I took it out in ground RB the Ruskies spawned two PE-8s at the same time - cut the tail off both.
I can imagine the pilots talking on the radio with each other after take off, they're talking about the war and how everything is falling apart in front of their very eyes. Their expressions are grim, hope seems lost at this point, but as they're flying together they all come to the agreement that if this is to be their final mission together, they will make sure that it will be their finest. And with that they engage the bombers, ready to go down as brothers in arms. Those who go down bid farewell to their fellow pilots, knowing that they would eventually reunite, whether it be in the air once more or in the afterlife with the rest of their fallen brethren.
@@fucoproductions1501 I recently got a capture card for recording. I might try making a series or maybe a short "movie" that is based on this comment. It won't be until after my channel is at the very least monetized though. Just an idea that I had.
That clearly shows how devastating the ME262's 30mm cannors were. The B25's broke apart like a kite. If the bailing out Me262 pilots survived, I'm sure they had to answer for why they did not die with Germany's most expensive fighter they were entrusted with! Great Video!
@@abotz5396 Also, in some IL-2 1946 mods, we are also have F-4E, F-14 Tomcat, F-16, F-18, Mig-21, Mig-23 and similar bad boys...And lots of amazing ships.
Wow, really great video!! During the Battle of Britain, the British Fleet Air Arm found out what it was like to go up against overwhelming odds where the ratio of German Aircraft outnumbered British Aircraft as much as 20 to 1. Now, nearing the end of the War, the German Luftwaffe were feeling that same desperate 'sting'.
They would have looked even cooler if they had the jet engines in the wing roots, as was originally planned. Ongoing changes to the size and weight of the engines during development made this impossible (as plane would constantly need to be redesigned to account for these changes). If they had time to get the me 262 HG 3 made it would have been amazing
@@catsooey Me 262 was a very problematic plane. In the real word they never stop any single bombing raid. Modern simulators are creating the myth of a sort of superior weapon. It was not.
@@albertodonda5994 These planes and their technology were stolen and repurposed by the allies, paving the way for their best aircraft of the next 30 years. The Sabre and Mig were both based on Kurt Tank’s jet prototype. The Me 262 as it existed had a massive advantage in top speed but was vulnerable at lower speeds. The engines were never designed to sit under the wings as I said - that was a necessity due to delays. When the engines were finished their size/specs would need to be taken into account to design the right 262 with wing root based engines, as well as swept wings.
@@albertodonda5994 You can talk about the loss of the war, which was the result of larger circumstances of how the war played out to that point. But the success and lethality of what was created, and what was about to be created stands on its own.
Back in the day I played a lot of European Air War. I liked the Me-262 interception missions best. If handled properly, you can keep the initiative, shoot down one or two bombers, and make it home safely almost every time. Just don’t get greedy.
Nice visualization. But the inaccuracy is in the fact that Me-262 pilot were very experienced. That's just NOT true. In 1945. almost all the Luftwaffe aces were dead and Schwalbe was operated mostly by rookies. That fact, and high vulnerability of the world first jet-figter on low speed was the reason that Nazis couldn't take the control over "Iron sky" :)
Otl saw the writings on the wall. He knew what time it was. Otl bailed from his plane…and then bailed from the war. Not necessarily an honorable decision, but a wise one nonetheless. Well done on this video, bro.
I understand more ME 262 pilots died in "training" than in combat. "Training" consisted of someone riding along side the new pilot while on the ground before take off.
Back in 2001 I was addicted to Jane's WW-2 Fighters, but I grew tired of the poor AI and I thought the ME262 wasn't modeled well. So I bought the original IL2, only to find that the ME262 was AI only!
es wird nie wieder ein so schönes flugzeug gebaut werden wie die messerschmitt me 262 und der nurflügler. man muss einfach fasziniert und angetan sein.
Imagine being one of those pilots. You feel that it is you coffin that closes every time the canopy locks and you have to intercept what seems to be a never ending wave of bombers. But you hope that if you just intercept a bomber it would give some of the people in the cities below another day of life to make it out of the war alive. Did the bomber you just shot down save a boy in school? A nurse perhaps. Or maybe a whole family. The guts those lasts pilots had.
Wow. Beautiful. I love this story. This is the closest thing we have to a movie about our people. Thank you. They dropped a bomb anywhere they saw a light.
Pretty bowdlerized version of history. The Allied bombing raids were not focusing on military targets at all; they were trying to destroy Germany's industrial infrastructure, and if destroying entire cities was necessary to do that, that's what they did, such as in the Dresden firebombing.
There is a flaw in this animation. The bombers do not move so quick when they turn or got shot up. It looks cartoonish the way the bombers moves so quickly after getting shot up. All the old real footages show planes turning slower.
i had a friend who shot down a 262 with his p-47 . his plane had a camera, the photo showed the wingtip shot off. he died a couple years ago. his name was Wally Groce.
B-25 Mitchel bomber was in service before WW2, at 250 mph, the ME-262 can fly circle around it at 550 mph. Its 4 x 30 mm canon could bust the bomber in 2 second burst. But if the bombers were the Mosquito at 460 mph with 6 MG, the battle would had been different. However, ME-262 was an engineering marvel.
First video of the series that I see, need to check the others soon. I don't like how the sim cannot show the air control surfaces moving to give out that extra inch of realism. Also, in reality I guess it was much harder for the bombers' crews to bail successfully upon being hit and getting their aircraft horribly spinning in flames. Love everything else. The chosen angles and points of view are all perfect. Makes our heart race with the tension and danger. And it's well narrated like a high profile WWII drama with a real backstory.
Amazing work on this! In the future i would like to see a bomber trying to land back at its base after suffering heavy fire, like losing two of it's 4 engines stuff like that, but if you can't then keep doing what you're doing i highly enjoy these👍👍
Great video, but terrible thing is...Since today I cant call myslef a IL-2 Sturmovik fan, because I never herd of this IL-2 version :( I only knew Forgotten Batlles and 1946... So realy big thanks for this video,I am buying this game next month
My gran father was a polush combat pilot fighting in the worldfamous 303 squadron. He eliminated 32 messerschmitt or heilkel and contributed to the fact that this luftwaffe criminal scums did not expand any further ! Cześć i chwała BOHATEROM !!!
I heard a former B24 nose gunner in high school tell a story for the class. His wife was married to him and brought him in to tell the history class. He said they were heading on a bomb run. Suddenly they 2 fast aircraft approaching them. They were ME262's. They dove down under them. He said within 2 minutes his bomber was then on fire and he was going down. Thankfully the guy in the bomber, who I never even saw, lined up the doors with my gunner door so I could get out. The crew was new to each other and it was dark in the morning before the mission. So I never even saw some of the men. Luckily our crashed bomber landed on a secondary target, a German shoe factory. But sadly 2 of the guys in the bomber never got out and crashed into the building with the bomber. He had bailed out and with the survivors were captured and put in prison camps, where he survived until the end of the war. I just thought I would include that story here since it was from a real B24 gunner. I NEVER knew anything about having to line up doors before for the gunner.
