A little special video blog where I have finally visited Binsey Walk in Thamesmead London where A Clockwork Orange was filmed back in 1971. Felt great to finally be there. Subscribe for more videos, thank you.
I was there yesterday - they are demolishing those flats along Binsey Walk it's actually fenced off now, they are also demolishing that club. That was built in the late 60's so was in really good nick when they filmed it.
Yeah it's sad, even though I've never been there before I have a sense of nostalgia for it and in a decade or two people won't even know it was there. Will just be more rushed , low quality flats which cost a fortune to rent. Sure Thamesmead was pretty ugly but they built pretty decently and were truly affordable.
I went there for the same reason a couple of weeks ago, and it broke my heart that everything has been demolished. The stairs are still there but I think that they will also demolish that..I hope not, but you guys from uk or London should do something to salvage at least the sidewalk and the stairs with the birk walls. Please do contact Peabody and ask to preserve the sidewalk with the stairs and those inclined iconic brick walls
I actually went there today to have a look and didn't realise it was already being demolished, by the looks of things the actual walkway is still there and so are the inclined walls, but whether they are going to keep them there I don't know, everything else is demolished apart from those so maybe they will be kept. I hope so because I wasn't even able to get very close as the whole place is basically boarded off and I didn't feel up to climbing in especially with all the activity going on.
I was there on a sunday and I trespassed, I am from Italy so I had to get to the sidewalk to take some pictures as it is not easy for me to go back there. But the fences and the wilderness growing made the thing hardly recognizable unfortunately..
@@standolfo Yeah it's sad, I'm guessing there wasn't anybody there on Sunday? It would have been hard to get in while I was there without nobody noticing since things were still being demolished but I could still make out the walkway and some of the remnants of the buildings. I mean you can still get into a site even if there are a few people there as long as you are quick and don't draw attention, if noticed just head off nobody is going to chase you since that's all they want you to do, get off.
@@creamtea3044 there was just the guardian with the dogs, actually I was scared to meet the dogs, eventually I got caught by the guardian that probably saw me with the cctv cameras despite I tried to avoid their range but he was quite cool as I explained the reasons of me being there, he told me I was lucky I didnt meet his dogs and I believe that, then we shook hands and I left.
@@standolfo That's nice and lucky, but me I just don't chance it. If it's me and the boys we will leg it because I find people in those sorts of jobs tend to be very jobsworthy if you know what I mean, of course you do get good ones occasionally.
Hi. I love your passion and respect your love 100% for Clockwork Orange. Respect fully. Some say that Clockwork Orange gave Thamesmead a bad name, but hey it was only a film just like my love and passion for Beautiful Thing also filmed in Thamesmead. Two very different films though, with very different audiences. I loved seeing you in this though and your love and interest for the film and area. Maybe we will share a beer someday eh. Take care.
