So then, major props to Snoop Dogg for recognising these true legends in his song Doggy Dogg World (on his album Doggystyle) because I ❤️ would never have known it was them.
I absolutely love them. I always feel their songs deep in my soul. Every time. Then, it’s that killer choreography. The Dramatics are an other worldly experience. 😍🤩💙
Oh yes it did. We didn't need the Mass Media for us. All of our communities across the country, knew about this gem and and a many more. I'm just saying 😉
@@Jae-iq3rh we still do but a lot of what women especially black women go for is not real men. They like Ai. Men that sag jeans and talk slang and know nothing about bringing a family to greatness.
Dramatics performing 1973 Balboa Park Club, 16 years old, walked up to the door, bouncer looked at me, actually looked down at me and said “right “, I didn’t flinch, he said “Ok”, escorted me to the back of the club, sat me down, bought me a Coke, told me don’t move, gave me the “soul brotha shake”, my dream came true, Dramatics jammed that night!....caught cab home, didn’t have enough money to get home, driver said “ you saw the Dramatics?”, he said “you good Son”....
God kissed the vocal cords of L J Reynolds, lolol! That voice is one of a kind. I'll know it anywhere. How could you not? They don't make em like him no mo. 🤗😘😜
Ron Banks voice was a national treasure.I love listening to his voice. This group was underrated. They could stand with the best of any group. This group was fire 🔥
Now You Know You have a super group when everyone can take the lead on a song! One of the best groups to ever do it! RIP to those that have gone but through this real music still lives on!
Saw them in an elevator before their show and they looked so physically tired. I asked them "Ya'll good"? They said that they were jet lagged I thought, .... uh oh..... BUT WHEN THAT SHOW STARTED IT WAS ON! AWESOME!!!!!!
What can I say about The Dramatics' cover of Me and Mrs. Jones that you all don't already know. Pure genius and harmony. Seeing them perform here on Soul Train takes me back to the time when music made sense and sounded pretty. This song will live forever............ ;)
Who ever wrote this record is over like fat rat The grand Master Billy Paul they took it to another level made it just as good as original publishing $ on this one !
This performance shows this groups vocal mastery and showmanship. Timeless. This never gets old or me never getting tired of seeing this clip of masters at work. The few times the soul train dancers had to stop and watch these guys perform.
I agree with the mastery and vocals. These dudes were Special. Never wrote or sang a bad song. So sorry most passed at a young age. LJ Reynolds is still carrying on. Dramatics music is timeless. I listen to them every week to this day🙂
I listen to them everyday too. Fell For You, And I Panicked, Treat Me Like A Man, Be My Girl etc. I like them better than the Temptations. This group is pure talent. Every member could sing and lead.
@@earlenedearing9621 I'm so jealous that you saw them live. Wish I could have. I love them and actually like them better than the Temptations. Fell For You, Be My Girl, Treat Me Like A Man, I'm Going By Those Stars In Your Eyes, And I Panicked, Just Shopping, Stop Your Weeping, Hey You Get Off My Mountain, Watcha See Is Whatcha Get, In The Rain etc. It gets no better than that
The Dramatics were so talented and this arrangement was so smooth and they looked so good... I like the Billy Paul version but the way the Dramatics did it is my FAVORITE!!! I can play it over and over and over again. My favorite part is @ 6:25 My my my my my my my my baby.
Where do I start? First of all I'm totally crushing on Lenny Mays with those longs legs and smooth MOVES! Ron Banks awesome falsetto has me swooning, LJ's voice is just soooo serious, Willie Fords deep voice is to die for and Larry Demps laying in the cut sooo cool and I read he was the chorography . Did I mention how sharp they were dressed? Simply put they were a dynamic R&B group.
KIDS TODAY NEED TO LEARN FROM THESE GROUPS. SO MANY GREAT PERFORMERS BACK IN THE DAY. STYLISTICS, HAROLD MELVIN AND THE BLUE NOTES, SPINNERS, CHI LITES, TAVARES, TRAMPS.THESE GUYS. THE CLOTHES, SYNCHRONIZED MOVES, JUST PURE CLASS!!🎼🙌🏿🎹🎷
I had the pleasure of knowing these men. Putting their personalities with their beautiful voices makes them spectacular with everything they did. I'll never stop loving them, missing those good old days that I had them in my life almost every day. I thank my superstar brother, Raymond, keyboard extraordinaire, for bringing them into my life. Love forever.
Oh how I miss those early, memorable Dramatics years. Such great memories of their magnificent shows! Still have those original albums too! True Classics. I love them so. RIP to the members that left us.💞
Both versions, this one & the original by Mr. Billy Paul are both great. This one has a more Doo-Wop-y type of feel to it, while Billy's was more classy with the orchestra & strings in it. Rest In Peace Billy Paul & Ron Banks.
Wow what a tribute to a beautiful song, perfect execution, full justice to each and every word sung by these brilliant performers. Next to impossible to find such performances in today's times. We are lucky to have such brilliant performances of the past where we could go back to and listen 🙏
Just saw the movie Detroit and it's a tragedy what these men went through that night. How they overcame it and became legends in the music industry. God was with them.
Man these guys were one of the greatest vocal groups in rhythm and blues. I loved them as much as I loved the temptations. Every group I loved had vocals. Even if they played with an instrument. And we've had many groups.
Yasss he is, I've been loving his voice since I was abt 11or12 yrs old, When I first heard "Door to Ur Heart" I guess I'm telling my age 😂😂Lj is a beast on the 🎤mic..... My mom had all of their albums and the Temps and Bobby Womack.
My brother and I plus three hs buddies performed this song in our school's talent show.... great memories from the 70's.. Billy Paul also did a version and killed it too....
I had the pleasure to host the dramatic in 1977 when they came to Peaches & Records in St. Louis. They stayed at the famous Chase Park Plaza Hotel. The hotel gave them some rooms with old furniture. They were so happy to be in the chase. What they did not know was, they were getting played. When got up to thief rooms, I was totally shocked, because I know what the rooms should have look like. So I told them noo, this is not right. We called down to the front desk & I told who I represened, ask why were a famous group like the Dramatics being treated like this. ( we all really knew why), fast forward. The chase moved all of them to the real rooms. They were elegant like should have been in the first place. They were thrilled. They told me that if I ever came too Detriut, everything would be on them. 😂. I never got there, but I so glad I was there to help. True Story. 💘
