You can get granulated brown sugar online. It's dry and pourable for meals in jars and bags. (C & H makes one.)

I looked it up. I see no difference in this C&H brown sugar vs the grocery store brown sugar. Am I missing something? So confused. If it gets rock hard, I see no reason to use this brand and have shipping costs.

FYI: I like to get my food as flat as possible in the mylar before sealing. It's because I pack them in cardboard boxes stacked flat. Just saying in case it helps with your storage situation 💗

Hi Carrie, newbie here. I’ve already made your quick oats, Do you have other recipes available? I’m specifically interested in meals in Mylar bags that I can easily add hot water to in case of an emergency and we have no power!

Yes I do! I was just thinking I need to make another video with Mylar bags. If you haven't already check out the other meals in a jar/Mylar bag meals I have in my preparedness playlist. I will be uploading a compilation video plus making some new videos soon. Thank you so much for your interest!

New subscriber! I like this. I have a presto jar warmer for my lunches at work. I wonder if I could put cold water in and have it warm and ready in a couple of hours.

I would write on the lid with sharpie. But if using tags, be sure to save them and reuse! Kris in Orlando

Today, I am opening up some home canned tomatoes that I feel like I got too much lemon juice in them (plus I didn't take the time to peel them because we had a death in the family and the tomatoes HAD to be taken care of) and am using those, plus store bought tomato puree and store bought tomato paste to make marinara sauce to can. I'm using dried herbs since I don't have fresh. I will be canning most of the sauce, but I will keep some out for supper to put over spaghetti noodles and topping that with some real bacon bits that I had stored in freezer.

I don't always peel my tomatoes, I only do it if I need some more tomato powder. I usually use skins and all I don't mind the texture. sounds yummy to me

@@CarriesCulinaryCrafts i don't mind the skins on there, i usually just grind them all up but these i wanted for "table tomatoes" to go with sandwiches....so I'll just use them this way and free up the jars and space for something else. This marinara smells wonderful....we'll see.
@SuzieQTrainwreck

and yes, i use my peels a lot of times for tomato powder as well.

Your Mylar oatmeal bags, how much hot water do you add to it when you want to eat the oats? And how long do you let it sit with the oats after adding the hot water. Thank you
@CarriesCulinaryCrafts
@CarriesCulinaryCrafts Год назад
if its a single serving you add 3/4 Cup water and let sit 5 min.. These are instant oats so it doesn't take long. you can use rolled oats as well but you will have to let them sit a little longer

Hi Carrie. Last week I bagged up some flour in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers using the recommended amounts and following the directions. This is the very first time I've ever done anything like this. I'm just wondering, should the bags have compacted down? Mine did not, and I am just wondering if I did something wrong. Thank you so much for sharing!
@CarriesCulinaryCrafts
@CarriesCulinaryCrafts Год назад
Yes they should compact down, it sometimes takes a while. It may not be hard like a brick but it should feel hard with no give. If it didn't it could be that you needed a higher cc then what you used. Can you tell me what size bag, flour and what cc oxygen absorber you used?
@Sue-TheCraftyBibliophile
@Sue-TheCraftyBibliophile Год назад
I used 1 gallon mylar bags, with 400cc oxygen obsorbers (I can't remember if I used 1 or 2 for each bag). The flour bags were either 4 or 5 pound bags, depending on where I bought them.
@CarriesCulinaryCrafts
@CarriesCulinaryCrafts Год назад
@@Sue-TheCraftyBibliophile That should be fine for the gallon size bags. How does it feel.. Does the flour feel loose or is it compacted some? if its totally loose and still has air, it either was a bad oxy or the mylar may not have been completely sealed.

Flat irons are at the second hand stores all the time, if someone is thrifty or on a tight budget.

I like milk in my oatmeal, so I add some powdered milk and a dash of salt.
