For folks who are complaining about the price , I’ve been researching teardrops for a good while now and they beat their competitors easily. One in Springville, UT, STARTS at $18,000 and that’s bare bones without options (they are also heavier). Another in Wanship is comparable, but not fiberglass rather wood and aluminum - pricing is competitive.
To those who are complaining about the price of these. You are Not the target market!!! These are being marketed to adventure seekers who are mostly younger professionals who don't mind paying more if they think it's worth it. Hell, they'll pay 2 or 3K for a bike so less than 20K for this sounds good. I wouldn't pay it either but there again I'm an old man who wouldn't be able to get in and out of bed in this camper. I don't even like camping!!! But this isn't designed for me so the manufacture doesn't care what I like!
That doesn't justify the insanity. I like these, I really do.. a nice quick bug out unit. But FFS they're overpriced. What your comment tells me is ' young broke professionals who are in debt to their eyeballs and can only afford to buy clothes from the salvation army wouldn't mind sinking nearly 20k on a couple hundred dollars worth of aluminum. You can even hear it in the guys voice how it sinks to a whisper as if he is embarrassed at the price levels. Look you can sell a couple a year for 20k, or you can mass produce these at 5k, make huge profits and the brand explodes.
@@SignalChange - "or you can mass produce these at 5k, make huge profits". No, you can't. At least, no one does, or comes anywhere close to that. And you talk about "insanity"? I wish you were right, but you aren't. Look at the competition, and you will not find anyone who isn't at least 2x what you claim for a price that "you can mass produce these" at.
@@SignalChange You don't know what materials or workmanship cost, and there's no market to "mass" produce these. It's a bespoke product for a niche market.
Onetrack what company do you own? What product do you manufacture. Are you a manufacturer? Are you a builder? Anything? I doubt it. If you were you wouldn’t make the stupid comments that you made. It is very expensive to build a product such as the Bean trailer. The cost of labor and materials, not to mention real estate, tools and machinery, water, sewer, gas, electric, phone, phone systems, internet, computers, real estate taxes, etc. dictate the price. Actually, for what you get the price is rather low.
Very well thought out design & layout. expensive @ >$16K. But has some nice features like the 1 piece roof+ side construction, suspension design, and the attention to many details. Guess you get what you paid for... Some modification I like to see: battery storage box fitted for several Li battery. Solar panel mounting option, & a 2 piece access door for the under trailer storage compartment
Agree 100% I have been looking at teardrop trailers for over a decade. For my retirement. But unfortunately became disabled at 59 years old. So now I'm just trying to live off my pensions. And Piss POOR Medicare. But by far of all the ones I've seen Thease are in the top THREE. Unfortunately now just another pipe dream thou.
Thank you. We did over a year of research and carefully evaluated every texture, material and feature to make Bean inviting so that you feel immediately at home.
We were inspired by many of the fiberglass trailer of the 60s and 70s which are still on the road today and enjoying a cult following. I am glad the construction is evident.
At those prices, I would expect patriot camper quality. It's not even close. Probably could sell it for a bit cheaper if they weren't so proud of the logo and placing it on every square inch of this thing.
I like the patriot campers too! But, I want to get away from the tent type trailers. So, teardrops are the way I will go. This one impresses me. But, there are others that are quiet good too!
You're not getting a Patriot Camper for $16K or $17K. Try double that for a Patriot X2 camper and $55k-60K for the X1 Grand Tour. You're still sleeping in a tent for that price too. Teardrop trailers are a for a completely different purpose than a tent trailer like the Patriot.
@Topanga Reyna it's okay if you were emo once, a lot of people were. I'm glad you finally realized my chemical romance sucked and moved on though well done.
Michael W We’d love you to compare our quality build verses the competition. We are building an Heirloom quality product that will be in your family for generations, verses something that is built to be disposable. Our trailers have a lifetime warranty on the roofline. Hard to beat the price and value of that. Other valuable insight for comparing prices. Our base pricing includes several upgrades that the competition upcharge for. If after you compare, you still don’t see the value, let’s chat!
Teardrops are not manufactured by the thousands on a big assembly line in Indiana, this is a very niche product with little appeal outside of folks like you and I. It is not possible to crank out limited numbers of these trailers while maintaining quality at a much cheaper price. Even Chinese knock-offs (I've looked) are not all that much cheaper.
@@paulnubreu6887 i'm pretty sure they are talking about campers in general and not just this brand. I do agree with them. Buying a new camper isn't something within the typical middle class family price range anymore.
Looks great and very functional. One note, perhaps a little more engineering on the swing away tongue could make it lockable in the folded position which could help for anti theft as it would be difficult to tow away then.
@@wolfpackflt670 Easily defeated by simply hooking up the safety chains, tow it away to some place the thief feels safe, then disable the lock. A boot would work better than that.
It's a curious thing. Folks are going to comment that it is too expensive. My tent cost 399. It has 8lbs of fabric and 2 aluminum sticks. It's a quality tent but nothing more. And it sucks to sleep on the ground. $400 is too much to spend if you don't enjoy it. I cant make a tent. I can't make a bean trailer either. A quality product is worth what you can get from it. Apparently Bean is doing well. My complaint, is it needs an AC option. If you want cheap, get a sleeping bag and air mattress. May your spine be aligned by the pine and pay your chiropractor well.
Thanks for the complete walk though and for using the comment section as an FAQ. Is there a particular AC unit recommended and what would be sacrificed on the front. Is there another preferred format for these general questions?
Awesome presentation of a quality product! I'm a veteran and we are very interested in owning one of these fantastic campers. Do you have any dealership in Arizona? Can a Mazda CX-9 pull this camper unit safely? Thank you, Sir!
Bean has a one piece molded fiberglass shell so no seam between the roof and side wall which means no leaks there. Mold fiberglass skin on Bean much thicker than the fiberglass sheet for the skin on the alternative trailer meaning increased durability.
@@mark-di5pf All you west of the Mississippi tear drop makers are missing out on a good market on the East coast. I would probably already own one of these but can't as I want to be able to actually see them in person and would want to do some custom work.
@@sportsguy2891 I get it. We are selling as many as we can make all over the country. Not really interested in subjecting our customers to the 'dealer experience'.
I love this trailer - the meaner bean is on my wish list for the ultimate mountain biking and camping rig. Do you offer an interior that has a small bunk for toddlers?
Bean was designed by a mountain biker to facilitate hassle free trips. A bunk can accommodate a small bunk. Reach out at sales@beantrailer.com to discuss.
Sorry at 13k , I got a used Lance 1071 that sleeps 4, has a 5 cu. ft. Refer, a dry shower and a slide, that dramatically increases the room, it's like and apartment, we spent 3 weeks and only came home, because we missed our nice house
Fiberglass is a specialized labor intensive craft. If you can figure out how to do a seamless one piece shell for the body with a glossy gelcoat finish for less, we are all ears.
Topanga Reyna perhaps you can share the number of times there have been reports of a fiberglass structures having been “stabbed through”? Many things are possible and fact based risk assessment is an intelligent way to navigate life’s uncertainties. Good luck.
Topanga Reyna. Thank you for your tireless service to the cause. Your use of capitalization and distinctive word choice is unparalleled. It is clear you are the preeminent expert on the topic of ‘stabbing fiberglass’. Without your passionate display how would the world come to know the underreported risk factors of ‘stabbing fiberglass’? Maybe someday people will come forward to report their ‘stabbing fiberglass’ incidents and this tragedy will finally get some recognition. I for one certainly weigh it with all the gravity it deserves.
Topanga Reyna you seem to be confused. Although I did use the word capitalization that was not germane to the post. You sound as if some one has hurt you by pointing out your writing style. You do not need to feel embarrassed for this. Excess capitalization is a well recognized way to express strong feeling in the absent of data. I am curious about your other impassioned views on mini camper construction. Given your frequency of post and I don’t mean to presume but do you have a similar familiarity with ‘aluminum stabbing’. I would love to know your thoughts.
@Roy G Biv Do not worry!)) After a full career in the military, and over 30 years as an Air Traffic Controller, I can stand tall and proud. But, little humble me missed your joke, Mr. Holmes! What was your joke again? Your nothing but a TROLL, and a waste of human flesh. Go back in your little cave where TROLLS reside. Oh, sorry don’t feed the TROLLS!
I've been looking and pricing these for a couple years, I'd say this is pretty expensive. Consider the T@G or one from TC Teardrops to compare features with pricing. Also...just because I'm 53 and could buy one of these for cash, doesn't mean I don't look for value. It's camping, not an Air BnB or a motorhome. But hey...I'm 53, and obviously the extensive marketing research they needed to do to finance this product development, etc. makes them the experts. I'll check back in a year or two and see if anything has changed, but I'll probably buy a TC Teardrop or $10K or less one before that.
Looks like a great product. What will keep me from buying this over your competitors is the absence of interior design. The white walls and ceiling are too sterile and not inviting enough. The LED lighting should be indirect. It wouldn't take much to make them more luxurious. Get on it. The galley looks pretty good. Do the interiors to match. Do wood veneer and wood laminate flooring.
@@SteveBoyer10 It was just a thought, but overall I want to stay in a spot that exudes warmth and coziness. LED's should have adjustable color temperature. Standard daylight (K5600) is too harsh. 3200K or warmer is better.
We have four different models that comes with different upgrades. Depending on your configuration your weight will range from 1400 lbs - 2000 lbs. Same for pricing, the range is $14,895 - $25,000
That'd be awesome! You could become our first international customer! We don't have any representation outside the US but if you can figure out shipping. We can get it going!
@@Victordunne1 That's not bad at all, i'd recommend going to our Trailer Builder on our site and then we'll be sure to give you a call to coordinate. :)
Bean has a built in solar port to use your own panel. We do not believe in putting solar panels on the roof. You want to minimize sun on the trailer and maximize sun on the solar panel.
Will it have a one piece fiberglass shell so you don't ever have to worry about leaks? Will it have composite walls instead of plywood? Will it have soft touch materials and recess lighting in the cabin? Will the galley have pass through storage with matching wood veneer? Will it have a rugged welded frame and suspension to conquer damaging BLM and Forrest roads?
@@mark-di5pf Personally I think you are putting too much value/emphasis on "soft touch materials and recess lighting matching wood veneer". Supposedly this is built for offroad camping and not glamping.
Is there a way to mount one of the storage lockers between the bikes? Say get 4 bikes, a locker and the battery in the middle? And looking at the rear hitch wouldn't that be to much weight on the back of the trailer with a bike rack and 4 bikes?
@@BeanTrailer I saw a tear-drop trailer being pulled in traffic a month or so ago. It was in the lane beside me, and all I could do was admire how neatly they seem to trundle along behind an SUV, then smile at the driver, point to the trailer and give her a thumbs-up. If we do buy a trailer, I'll be pushing hard for something that small and fuel-efficient. So, a question: how much do they REALLY affect fuel economy?
