I’m 29 now, but back when I was in my teens I had barely any female friends for this reason. If you have some disagreements with a guy he will probably be over it the next day unless it was over something very serious. But with girls, even the slightest little disagreement could cause them to hold resentment towards you for weeks if you’re lucky. And girls can be very insecure, and I say this as a woman myself. So it could very well be that this mean girl was jealous of you or something. Who knows?

Why on earth would she call you "ugly"? That makes no sense. Shouldn't you at least get both sides of the story before just turning against her and leaving her totally confused?

Little heart breaking - everybody needs a "Ride or Die" bestie growing up. The thing is, you'll know right away if they are your best friend or not. It can be difficult when others feel they need to compete with you. I don't think that is a friend, that's just the idea of keeping our friends close and enemies closer. Sometimes, I think this is why pretty girls are close with that "ugly" friend. Because the backstabbing be real.

There is a big difference between being mean and straight up dishonest. Some people can be mean, but they don't talk behind your back like this snake you mentioned.
just be nice to people no matter the situation. also being nice and fun to be around is the most attractive thing for me at least (male) so that's another reason to be nice. btw ure hot both physically and because you have good opinions idk what that girl was smoking.
Spend the time to get to know people. Ask them about their life, and see how much they ask about yours. If the conversation is going one way a lot, that can be a sign that they aren’t actually interested in you as a person. Test this by seeing what happens when you offer up a story about yourself, to see how they respond. Talk to them about challenges others have faced, and see what sort of advice they give. Is it “catty” or good advice. This can reveal a lot. Ultimately, if someone starts talking behind your back, time to drop them like a rock. They truely are not worth your time. You genuinely seem like a nice person, so build up your character perception muscle, because there are other good people out there.
