you have to keep in mind that this was in 2009, before her big pink friday debut. yes she was definitely known in the FEMALE rap scene, but she wasn’t mainstream yet & was still doing appearances at clubs and constantly going on live trying to garner her fan base. it’s not that hard to believe lol

The year before Kanye and Wayne collabed on 808’s and Wayne used a few of the plethora of tracks Kanye sent him for Tha carter 3. In 2009 Kanye directed the music video for drake’s breakout single and wrote and produce one of the other early hits of drake’s career. There was no way he was working this close with Wayne and Drake and Nicki’s name didn’t get brought up once. Plus the MBDTF recording sessions weren’t just at some random studio that they could just happen to meet at she would have to have been personally invited lol. I do believe her verse made him insecure though I can see that but the rest screams cap
@@TheDjmoney99 when you say "work closely with" what do you mean? Often times beat makers just send their beats or just play it for the person buying. Its not like an 8 hour sit down session. Same with features. They spit a verse, send it, get feedback and make adjustments. Its possible kanye collabed with wayne and spent no more than 30 mins in his presence, maybe they never saw each other at all.

But I guess Kanye wasn’t working closely with drake when he was making music for him, directing music videos for him, and making music with him lmao. Idk if you people are children and didn’t live through this time or you’re new hip hop fans but the reason why Pink Friday was so successful was because it was a highly anticipated album. Maybe the MAINSTREAM and WHITE PEOPLE didn’t know who Nicki Minaj was but a lot of the black community and hip hop fans knew who was the star female rapper of the group formed by the hottest rapper in the world at the moment. I promise there’s absolutely no way in hell a rapper of Kanye’s size who was frequently collaborating with that circle wasn’t aware of her existence. Also like I said the MBDTF recording sessions was a very strict and private affair. Kanye has always been a control freak but he was notoriously controlling over everything that came to that project. For you to be invited and record a verse Kanye would have to have personally requested you and you would have to have followed all of his strict rules or you would’ve been kicked out. It’s crazy I’m officially old enough to watch history be rewritten. Y’all think yall bigging Nicki up but you’re really shitting on her come up and basically calling her an industry plant if she was completely unknown before she released her label backed album but was still able to get so many guest verses on so many notable songs of that time period.
