Wrong. One does not need two hands to complete a path. One hand touching a live circuit can kill you if your body has a connection to ground somewhere else.
@HTMWorkshop
@HTMWorkshop Год назад
Hmm did I say that - I just said it’s safer to use one hand - of course you are always grounded but the resistance is way higher through your feet to ground and the path is not directly through your heart. Yes you can still have current to ground, I never said you can’t. Just safer to use the one hand rule
@DannyB-cs9vx
@DannyB-cs9vx Год назад
@@HTMWorkshop You said at the beginning of the clip. Use only one hand. This protects you from creating a path through your heart. No it doesn't. Lots of people have died using only one hand.
@HTMWorkshop
@HTMWorkshop Год назад
@@DannyB-cs9vx Well I agree with what your saying, and appreciate the feedback. I just think the video is not meant to be exhaustive - in other words "do this and you will not ever be in danger" - rather this is one way to reduce the likelihood of a path through the heart. It's a 14s short designed to be one tip - definitely not a replacement for full electrical safety training
@frieden6298
@frieden6298 11 месяцев назад
@@HTMWorkshopYou could have added the "reduce the likelihood" part in the video. Definitely clears things up with just a few seconds added.
@user-on6kr3rs5m
@user-on6kr3rs5m 8 месяцев назад
I agree with this and I don't agree with the video maker with his comment to this. You didn't say it was safer. You clearly said one handed will stop the voltage going through your heart. Look you can't say this. Its not ture and its going to end up killing people that belive this. Take the video down before some dies
@HTMWorkshop
@HTMWorkshop Год назад
So I see a lot of people misunderstanding what I am saying here. So let me clarify, putting the probes or a probe in the probe holder while taking a measurement is a way to eliminate the path through the heart issue. So if you put one probe in the probe holders and use you hand to hold the other probe you are safer than using your two hands to hold the probes. Obviously you can’t put both probes in the holders for most applications of measurement (perhaps a couple cases). But keeping one probe in the holder is a very good way to increase safety while taking a measurement.

Correct, obviously that is not always needed, but when measuring electrical panels or when you want to hold the meter and the probes it saves you from using own hand (so comes in handy 😜)

Use genuine leads those are not safe on mains, Should be fused too.

Not always possible on high voltage/high hp vfds and motor starters. But a good tip for general usage. Also get a good multimeter (I only use Fluke) that has good circut protection

Not thru. Holders behind are not design to be ise while testing voltage. They are holders and nothing else. And also, if you are using the meter for the voltage used, if it is not of a good quality, it will blow off your face even with one hand. But yes, using THE RIGHT HAND, will help prevent a possible heart damage.
