You know what.....In a generation of people who phone in sick coz they've stubbed their toe, no one dare have the nerve to criticize this. The bloke is Ill ! Proper Ill. BUT.....Look at how he performs ! ! ! And listen to the power in his voice. Actor, Singer, Entertainer, not wanting to let any one down, and he hasn't. AMAZING PERFORMANCE ! ! !
For the people who have ripped on this performance, please keep this in mind this was the time he was very sick, cysts had developed on his vocal chords and that will effect the quality of a performance. since he got past those cysts he has been great live seen him in 2010, and 2012 and he rocked the house!!!!!!!

I think it's cool that the guitarists are both able to take solos and one isn't delegated to play only rhythm and be in the shadow of the other. Without a doubt, one of the best, most consistent backing bands in rock music ever.
When he was good, he was the best stage performer ever. Saw him in Hershey PA and he was unbelievably good. Who can sing the same song for 10 minutes and leave you begging for more?
the first time I heard this song I saw meatloaf at this out of the way bar/club way down on cape cod, massachusetts called pufferbellies. it was an old train roundhouse station. this was in his down years between bat 1 & bat II. the release of bat II hadn't even been released yet. I was driving by and saw the sign read "Meatloaf" live tonight". I thought it was a gag at first. the cover was only $10.00 so I said to myself, "why not" what have I got to lose. I started talking to some people there and they assured me it was no gag. meat was obviously playing anywhere that would have him. it had been a while since he toured. well, long story short, the man played most of the now hits from bat II and a lot of the old stuff ending with of course paradise. the man played for over 3 hrs with no break. the only time he left the stage was to change his shirt and he couldn't have been gone for more than 2 minutes. but at th end of the show, I have never seen any performer more greatful to get a 2nd chance at the brass ring and he gave the most heartfelt, tearful, sincere, speeches thankign all of us for spending our hard earned $10.00 just to come and see an old washed up has been like himself. meat, if I may, you were never a has been. as I told you in boston in 2009 when I told you this story, your one of the best if not "THE" best stage performer I have ever had the priviledge to see live. and in your own words, DONT EVER, EEEEEEEEEEEEEVER, STOP ROCKIIIIIIIIING!!!!!!!!!!!! cya at the next show.

Meatloaf was one of the best. It’s just too bad he died way too soon. I’m glad I was able to see him in concert a few times. Him and Jim are throwing one hell of a concert somewhere up there.
Great version. I dont give a f... he is older and his voice is less. Still a great voice and performance. Stil hit the high c and knows how to blast out the lyricus the way they are meant to be when they were written by the one and only Jim Steinman. Btw the into the fire backing vocals in the end are focking awesome. Way to go Meat!
I must confess when I knew this song, it was covered by Japanese female singer called Miki Maruyama, as a theme song of TV drama. Then I noticed that this song had huge power as QUEEN's tunes. Very similar to their vibes such up and down undulation dramatically.
There’s a great documentary that was filmed around the time this show was made. It was the first time he aloud a film crew to follow him around it’s called “ In search of paradise” . It’s an amazing look into how he prepares for a show and all the work that goes into it. What’s more is he is never happy unless the people are he’s so tough on himself and was always looking for that “one” good show.
There are three types of people in this world: 1. People who don't like Meat Loaf, 2. People who think Bat out of Hell is better than Bat Out of Hell 2, And 3. People who think Bat Out of Hell 2 is better than Bat Out of Hell.
I love the collaboration between meatloaf & Jim steinman so both 1 & 2 But I honestly can’t stand to watch him make a fool of himself anymore....it’s really sad to see him perform like this 😢
I heard Bat 2 and fell in love even before I heard Bat out of Hell, but I was hooked have loved his music ever since, even got my daughter listening to him, she's almost an adult now
There's a sensational version of this on here somewhere from 1991. Great energy, great vocals, good backing. Then there's this stuff. Great band, good stage show and er, stale Meat Loaf. Can't help agreeing with dust about what the guy's doing to his legacy by carrying on performing.
I wish this was his retirment show because this was an amazing concert. Unfortunatly his Manchester show was bad. I had a great night and I guess thats what I was expecting, an experiance and a ' I was there moment' rather than a great show. The singing was loud talking/shouting and I expected this as I'm sure Meat himself did so I was expecting the same if not better stage show but nope, one lousy blow up bat.. Anyway haha I was just saying I love this video and I love Meat
Love the Meat Man!!! Even though he can barely keep up with his vocal cues anymore, he is still giving it everything he's got. What is amazing is that the majority of the members of his band weren't even born yet when that song came out (On Steinman's Bad For Good album in 1981). Why is he beating on his guitarist though? lol!!
I was only born in 81 haha... I love this man.I went to the farewell tour last year and he was bad. I wasn't dissapointed, i still love him, at end of day he puts so much into his performances. I'm just glad I saw him at his 3 bats tour when he was still mostly ok.
Anyone know approximately what year this was? Someone said this was when he wasn't feeling well, and understaandably, his older voice isn't quite what it used to be. But DAMN he gives it 150% and probably one of the top hardest-working stars of rock 'n roll EVER! :-)

I think Meat tries to get more soul from the band (6:05) But they just kept playing perfect music. Steinman's songs needsmore movement, expression. The guitar players didn't get the idea... Even if Meat hit him in the arm... (8:45 to 9:40), just see Meat's deception face...
I really worship him, but he is demolishing himself more and more with such performances... BUT there are 2 points: 1. He is working his ass off - every show, every song! 2. He still sings the songs in the original key (even Freddie performed eg Somebody To Love in G instead of A flat...)!
@RWOODWARD64 ah, excuse me. meat is a great performer, no doubt. but one doesn't need to make Queen creations into music because they already are pure music. BLASPHEMY!!! ;-) apart from that, I totally agree, essential rock opera. this is my favorite rendition of that great song i've found on youtube so far. I'm seriously considering buying a meat loaf live dvd but i'm still not sure which one is the best. this one? the one in melbourne with the symphony orchestra? ...
