This is the best PUPPETS post in a long time. There was another Rare Meat bootleg but it consisted of live on the radio things, covers, stuff like that. It was really good as well but only a quarter as long.
I was following the Grateful Dead in 1990 (Amazing tour!) and I drove up through Madison WI and saw these guys without knowing who they were. A few other dead heads were there. Great time. Some heads may or may not have sold a few sheets of LSD :P
@@Kirreu Oh my..... Yes thats it! Im trying to see if I could find myself on camera. This was actually before Dead kicked off the east coast March tour, we were coming from Oakland at the time. My dad used to work for Alembic and lived in Novato at the time so we had some great contacts :P Great show, it sounded much better live.
Just wondering how Derrick felt about Curt’s “Snow” Lp. He was doing an acoustic only set at The Paradise during the mid-00’s and I picked one of them up from him and it was so much more removed from his usual styles of writing; that I honestly listened to it for a bit longer than I expected. We were talking afterwards and I’d asked him how he was picked out for the SST Demo back when Ginn put this demo ( which was free at the time!) and if he thought stuff like Tumbin’ Tumbleweeds fit in with Black Flag, St. Vitus, Wurm etc and he’s a really decent guy ( especially in this filthy business Ive been a part of for over 40+ yrs my own self. Thanks for sharing the best of the rest, I appreciate your dedication to our friends and their career ( even before Kurt‘discovered’ the band as millions of ignoramuses would follow believing them to be a new musical act like The Wipers or Mudhoney! I actually hope to be able to interview Derrick and Cris someday as they occasionally speak to people over video call. Not sure it will ever happen but I was planning to ask Derrick and Cris how they felt about the Golden Lies era Meat Puppets. If I ever get the chance I could add Snow onto that question as well.
@@KirreuFunny thing is I actually bought the Snow CD from Cris after he had performed a lot of those hits on his live acoustic show. I asked him why he thought Greg Ginn would’ve added the songs ( especially “Tumblin’ Tumbleweeds” as part of his Annihilator tape seeing the songs on there were mostly punk rock and hardcore bands and he seemed kind of stumped by my question about that one lol; I can understand why he was, but it’s the very first thing I ever heard by the band at around early 1980’s. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly and ; I’d love to hear Snow again ( my CD’s from the year he’d released it and sold it during his brief tour in mid- 2000’s, but I need to check out the Volcano album right away! I’ll eventually get the one you think is just average too. Sincerely, DJP Anal Cunt; Postmortem and Kilslug Sony; Earache 🇬🇧 Columbia and TAANG!!
