As someone who has won multiple jambalaya comps, I have to say the question was worked poorly. I mean potato salad MUST be served with gumbo but it's not an ingredient any more than rice is.

Absolutely not. Gumbo is still gumbo without being served on rice, and doesn't even have to be served on top of rice to be called gumbo. I've had plenty of people serve me gumbo on top of potato salad before, and that's still gumbo.

@@underthetrees4780it’s NOT an ingredient 😂 it’s cooked on the side, therefor the role of this specific ingredient makes the difference between the two, in jambalaya the rice is cooked along in the pot with everything else

Agreed. I would also say give Randall the week off too. Nothing against either of them. But its not good when you have players calling it the "Randall and Brody show". Maybe lower the "difficulty"? I wanna see more than 2 of the 8-10 contestants still be in the game after 5 questions. I mean they talk about 0% questions all the time but never talk about 0% contestants.

And to clarify thats feedback about the difficulty of the questions themselves not the contestants. I think its cool when they have employees in a game. But Idk how fun it can be to get 0 right answers all the time.

I think they use to get their questions from current events around the office, but as the game goes on he has expanded his pool to more random questions that while they fit the verticals they are truly random

@@dreluismauad bear and cougar hunting. Our commision has been hijacked by anti hunters, they are leading the charge for other states that might want to do the same, to do away with as much as hunting as they think they can get away with.

@@jero1918 oh that’s no good. I spend a lot of time out in the north cascades and we got plenty of bears and cats. Last thing we need is to completely stop hunting them. Crazy how people living in Seattle and Tacoma get to vote on crap that only affects folks in the sticks.

I think the whole point was that rice and its inclusion or not in the pot/cooking process was a key point of differentiation between the 2. Basically if it's part of the dish vs served with the dish.

I still argue that is an ingredient. If you don't have rice with it it becomes soup. However, I am from West Virginia, so my input probably is not as valid! Lol.

It's the role the ingredient plays. The question is accurate, rice is in Jambalaya, rice is not in Gumbo although it may be served over it.

In almost every instance in a Louisiana restaurant, if you order gumbo you'll get a bowl with a scoop of cooked rice under a lot of gumbo. The menu will say gumbo, not gumbo and rice. So once it's served to you, the rice has become an ingredient, and it's used differently than it is in Jambalaya. You can overthink it, but if you've cooked both, I think the answer to the question was pretty obvious.

I guarantee way less than 25% of Americans have any idea what an eelpout is or where Leech Lake is. The question was difficult if you're not familiar with that region.

rice question makes perfect sense if you regularly cook both gumbo and jambalaya. they're basically the same right up until you either decide to put the rice in the dish, or serve the dish over already cooked rice.
