Here is a newer version of my Pastalaya, with a few changes in HD. Keep up with the cookware I use on my Amazon influencer page: amazon.com/shop/thecajunninja Check out Cajun Ninja Merch here: teespring.com/... Music by Horace Trahan
PASTALAYA 1 lb Pork Chopped Kosher Salt & Black Pepper (to season pork) 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil 1 lb Boneless Chicken Thighs Chopped 1 lb Smoked Sausage 2 Onions 1 Bell Pepper 1 Bunch Green Onion 2 Sticks of Celery 4 Cloves of Garlic 1/2 Tablespoon of Cajun or Creole Seasoning 3 Beef Bouillon Cubes 3 & 1/2 Cups Water 1 (10.5 oz) Can of Cream of Chicken Soup 1 Tablespoon of Hot Sauce 1 Tablespoon Browning Sauce 1 lb (16 oz) of Bow Tie or Favorite Pasta First, start out by heating an oven safe pot over medium heat. Prepare the meat by cutting the pork and chicken into cube like pieces, and slice the sausage. Chop your vegetables and move them to the fridge. Season the pork well with kosher salt and black pepper. Add the vegetable oil to the pot, move the pot around to spread evenly, and sear the pork in the oil. When you no longer see pink, turn the heat to low and cook for 20 minutes stirring every so often. At the 20 minute mark, add the chicken and let cook for 10 minutes stirring occasionally. After 10 minutes, remove the pork and chicken with a slotted spoon into a bowl. Add the sausage to the pot and cook for 10-15 minutes or until you see some browning. At this point preheat your oven to 300° After 10-15 minutes, Remove the sausage so that there's nothing left but the drippings. Add the onion, bell pepper, green onion, celery, garlic, cajun seasoning, and beef bouillon cubes. Sauté until completely soft, roughly 1 hour. Add the water, cream of chicken, hot sauce, kitchen boquet and raise the heat. When the soup has blended, add the pasta and meat back in. Mix well. Once everything mixed nicely, gently press down on the top so that all pasta is touching liquid. Bring the mix to a boil. Once boiling, cover, turn the fire off, and put the pot in the oven. Cook for exactly 1 hour. Do NOT touch that oven! Leave it alone! Trust me. When done, remove the pot, and set aside for 5 minutes before uncovering. When the time is up, remove the cover, mix the top to the bottom, and serve. If concerned about some of the pasta not being cooked all the way, after you stir the top to the bottom, just cover it back up and let it sit for another five minutes, then serve. Hope you enjoy!
Pulled this out the oven 10 minutes ago and y’all...this is EVERYTHING!!!!! Followed the recipe to the letter and it’s PERFECTION! 😋 Thank you SOOOOO MUCH for this recipe!
@@chrisb4290 My wife’s family is from just South of Toronto. When I fire these recipes up, these people get weak in their knees and have to sit down at the first bite. And it’s joyous to watch.
I actually cooked pastalaya this evening. My recipe I had for years but it’s similar to yours. You influenced a few small changes for sure mostly in the process. I use blackening seasoning on my chicken and use golden mushroom soup instead of cream of chicken and that’s really bout it. I’m born and raised New Orleans and in Metairie now. so great Louisiana minds think alike lol
As a former 22-year resident of Baton Rouge, who now lives back in Canada where I'm from, I've had pastalaya many times, but have never made it until now. So good. Thanks for the recipe. Enjoying some pastalaya as I type :)
Broooo I’ve made this several times and I gotta tell ya it’s my absolute favorite. Thank you so much for sharing your Cajun wisdom brother. Much love from Philadelphia!!!
Ninja!! You made me a cook overnight! Dishes that used to be only attempted by the veteran’s when I was a kid…you explain everything to perfection. Thanks man!!
- Luv, luv, luv your recipes. Spent lot of my childhood in Raceland, Houma, Napoleonville, LA so was used to hearing my Granny say, "get the rue right & yo' food'll be good." Thanx 4 sharing. Keep the meals coming.
SUCH A GREAT RECIPE! I used penne instead of bowtie pasta, cream of mushroom instead of cream of chicken and didn’t add the kitchen bouquet (worked with what I had) and still came out great!! “Do you” 😋😋
I put my pasta in the gravy then added my meat on top without stirring then baked. I think it allowed the pasta to absorb more seasoning and cook evenly.
Dude you gotta get a show on foodtv. You’re more entertaining & you cook stuff people actually eat (as opposed to squid ink). Stay safe - your neighbor in Covington
09/26/2023 - it's opening day weekend in Texas for bow season this Saturday and I'm serving this for the 3rd year in a row to the hunters. It is a huge hit. ❤ Thank you and God bless from the Thibodeaux Family
Made this tonight and I'm telling you, it's spot on! My son loved the Zatarain's Pastalaya and was so sad when they discontinued it. He asked me to make it from scratch so I went straight to your videos for a recipe. He says this was better than Zatarain's! This recipe went straight into my handwritten cookbook that I'm working on for my boys. It's a keeper for sure! I added 1/4 teaspoon of Zatarain's liquid crab boil instead of hot sauce. That's my secret ingredient for my gumbo and red beans and rice too. Thanks Cajun Ninja!
Just spent the afternoon making this dish. It came out great! My wife is from Lafayette and had never had Jambalaya with pasta and absolutely loved it! Prefers it over her own recipe. Thank you!
Told da wife I’d like to have her fix dis one. We be only approx 90 miles from ya in Alex. Really enjoy all your videos, stay safe and keep da family safe also, prayers sent your way! And as always great video!
Damn man that looks insane delicious ! I love using my Dutch oven but never thought about using it for a pasta dish. I will add some Boursin cheese to mine for the extra creamy goodness.
Can't believe I've never had this. In fact I've never even heard of it. And I've lived in Terrebonne for almost my entire life. Definitely going to try this now. You earned a subscription, fellow cajun.
Made this yesterday! It’s delicious. Having leftovers right now! Boy that spice kicked in even more today I’m sweating 😅 But delicious! Thank you for sharing. I will make it again to share with family 😊
I followed everything to the T except I didn't have green onions and I skipped the teaspoon of hot sauce. It is BOMB! I never had jambalaya w/ pasta. A few of my noodles were crunchy from baking, but that was expected. This recipe makes ALOT for just my fiancé and I. We really enjoyed it!
My man you seize to amaze me with your food! I love following your recipes and so does my family! I really want to make this buy for a work pot luck shall I just double everything?
I met your sweet kids at the pool in Youngsville. They told me about you, and I made this recipe for the first time today for a friend who just had a baby. Love the show, and I have subscribed. I think the kids have been promoted to Marketing Managers :) Keep up the great work -- Pi-Yahh!
I’ve been making your pastalaya since your first video! It’s spot on, and have gotten nothing but compliments every time I make it! I use quite a bit more hot sauce than you, but that’s my preference.
I love this recipe and i do this recipe at least once or twice a week. Its sooo delicious and i had got me a pot like that oh man will be delicious even more. Simple. Easy. and of course Delicious. 🤤
Great video. One question. I need to make a larger amount so would you double all of the ingredients? I can judge the amount of seasonings, meat and vegetables I need to use. I don't have a problem with them, only the amount of water for lets say 2 lbs of pasta. Not sure if you have a water to pasta ratio that you use like you do for rice. Again great video, I have watched almost all of your videos. I actually use about 10 of your recipes on a regular basis.
I made this and followed the recipe exactly and when I took it out of the oven it’s stuck to the sides and bottom of my pot. It’s still edible and delicious but what did I do wrong?
Ok. I was thinking about doing this for Halloween. How would I double it in the oven? I was thinking brown everything and split it between 2 foil pans with lids or aluminum foil?
Nice. I do enjoy your videos. Do you have an easy make-your-own pasta? Or alternative to pasta? Kinda hard to get that at the shops right now. Australia.
Hey brother love the channel and all the videos. I’m gonna make this pastalaya this evening for my boys and I was curious do you have an actual recipe somewhere that I can print out?
@thecajunninja If i were to double this, how much water and Pasta would you add? I don't think just straight doubling it would work so what is your recommendation?
I made something similar but I put chicken and pepper 💜 i can't eat pork ....just shared @Cajun ninja ..i uses Goya. We gave a Greek dish like that shared 💜💜💜💜piyahhh
Julie Suarez should still work the same. That’s not much less pasta. As you can see at the end, I still have to stir them in to finish the rest. With 12, they will probably all be done.
