On January 11, 2024, Manhattan East Community Association's Michael-Ann Rowe and Kevin O'Keefe address the need for ample green an open space and affordable housing on the site of a proposed casino in East Midtown Manhattan.
The video was captured at a town hall on the casino, held at the NYU College of Dentistry's Septodont Lecture Hall at First Avenue and East 24th Street in East Midtown.
The casino is being proposed by property owner Soloviev Group and its gaming partner Mohegan, for an undeveloped parcel between First Avenue and FDR Drive in the community of Murray Hill.
In the January 9, 2024, issue of its newsletter, MECA reported on the event:
"As co-sponsor of a special town hall on Thursday about a proposed Murray Hill development that would include an underground casino, Manhattan East Community Association (MECA) joins State Senator Kristen Gonzalez to welcome all community members who want to learn and be heard... Gonzalez will host the January 11 event... By popular demand, virtual attendance has been added as an option... The south end of the development site is two intersections north of St. Vartan Park."
