The double dongler is actually a common tool in tech circles, the official name is a "spudger". Usually the goal is to get the most durable material you can find that's still softer than whatever you're trying to wedge loose.
I am glad that you have continued this end of the year feature. It has some cool stuff that stood out to you and I may have missed on Funk FPV in 2023. Let me express my honest appreciation for what you have done for our family since the first short I checked out a long time ago. I’m 80 years old, struggling with cancer and a bunch of other depressing miseries. You have brought so many belly laughs and real world memories that I can connect with. It still amazes me. Everyone who cares about me thanks you for lifting my spirits. I really hope that you are rewarded for what you do. I suspect that $ is only part of it, likely a minor part. Bless you for all that you do for so many of us who need it. Believe me when I tell you that you make a difference.
I've been an aircraft mechanic for 45 years and a home handy man longer. FINALLY, I find somebody with tools I DON'T have!!! Yeah I'm gonna fit that. Thanks for your great videos and making me laugh at stupid people. Happy New Year to ya!!
I think those breaker fuses would be really great for replacing a cigarette lighter fuse. Sometimes you plug something in you aren't expecting to blow it then it does or if you have an inverter or something wired in so you don't have to replace it every time you over draw.
The door holder… that’s genius. I have a glass door I often need to keep opened, and the darn thing opens right above a step so that you can only stick something in the 2 inches closest to the frame… we end up either just blocking the lock so that we can at least reopen it, or we block it with a larger object or tie it with some straps, which are all either dangerous or time consuming. I’m buying this thing.
Try railer brand bits. Their hex bits, torx bits, and regular screw driver bits are superior, in my opinion. The bit holders they come in are the best I've ever worked with. That includes the tool Trucks. I am a Crown Lift Service Technician and appreciate the information you put out. I can relate a lot to your videos and outlook about the job.
I've got a couple of Fat ivans and love 'em. For storing on my tool bag, I just open it up, run the hook through a loop on my tool bag, and then close it back up. Locks it right onto my tool bag.
Those circuit breakers - Best use I ever found for them was for the fusable link on a bass boat trolling motor. The damn fuse would always go out at night, and I'd be trying to follow the wire with a flashlight in my teeth, while dropping the fuses in the dark. With the ciurcuit breaker, it was "set it and forget it". If it blew, I'd just have to wait a few minutes for it to cool down and it would be fine again. Saved me a lot of frustration!
I had the same experience with the collapible stools - I liked the first one I bought, and the second one broke. I'd like to find one made with better quality material (like maybe nylon or some sort of high impact polymer) that comes at a reasonable price. Thanks for the great video!
About the circuit breakers, being a site mechanic like that is completely different than being a mechanic like yourself. Like at my job I have so much equipment to keep going and often don't have time to work on something that is only " partially broke". Usually after a while the part breaks completely and then it doesn't take as long to fix. The old sprayer on drive sometimes they always ask me if it's ok for anyone to drive to drive because I do a lot of field fixes and no one else would know how to drive it
The resettable fuse is definitely the way to go. Ordered a mini resettable 1.5amp breaker and attached two wires with connectors for that exact reason. Going through some heaters with an internal glass fuse. Having been in a few of them running down what’s blowing the fuse. After running out of them on a job. Way easier to have a breaker to reset while doing that before replacing it with the glass one after the repair an heading out
Handee clamp, replace it 100% with a boxed end or open end wrench and a piece of waste plastic bag. The bag takes up the slack between wrench and fastener and holds the fastener for you. Easy enough to pull off and costs $0 😁
You’re the best, dude. I’ve been seeing so many other channels lately who are just influencers posting sponsored videos like “These are the tools you MUST have if you’re an *insert trade*” and it’s all brand spanking new tools they’ve clearly never used. It’s so gross.
I so enjoyed your content this year, I give you a 10/10 for playing, I deduct 0 points for waving your finger at us. You were honest, funny and forthright, still a 10/10 perfect score.. I hope the channel does well for you. Thank you
I love hearing your opinions on tools and year down the road wouldn’t even mind seeing a list off i beat these tools to fuak daily and they’re still working after 5 years videos lol
Love the Fat Ivan. I might have to get one of those for our fire door at work. Nothing like getting locked out when you take out the trash, and that rock is getting to be a PITA. By the way, I finally ordered a Dewalt screwdriver earlier this week, which I should have tomorrow. Looking forward to using that on some projects.
Wes......I bought (2) Handee Clamps and (1) Fat Ivan. These are things I wish I knew about earlier in my life. Thanks for making a video of them. Wayne (Clifton, NJ)
Thank you for bring this video to us. I'm A. Gedded? Man myself. Something about it? I just can't help it keep ring Essie's good videos. I always enjoy them.
Y you show me this AFTER Christmas though? Seriously though, thanks for keeping us entertained throughout the year. As a fellow maintenance tech (pharma) who is also a tool/gadget nerd, I find your videos very relevant and pretty hilarious at times. Happy new year. Looking forward to more mechanical shenanigans in 2024.
Dang, that second tool would remove a lot of reasons Industry mechanics smuggle knifes into places their not supposed to :D HSE should hand those out when they ban knifes. Even got a hole for a tool lanyard.
AWESOME VIDEO!! All of those would be EXTREMELY handy tools to have!! Especially that little key chain deal!! It would eliminate carrying around loose bits or a clucky ass bit box!!
I could have really used that first tool a couple weeks ago lol. I’m definitely ordering the father son version asap!! Thank you very much for showing us.😊
Those CB fuses have me sold. My heavy air conditioner has one particular circuit that loves to eat 5a fuses and it's always a pile of blown fuses from troubleshooting.
The door holder is great. We install granite and quartz counters by the thousands chiefly in commercial, commercial-residential etc. We have to open then hold open many many many doors while carrying the counters. Thanks for the tip. Also, 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻, fucking bravo on 750k subscribers. I've been around since about 30k. It's easy to appreciate another man's dedication to his craft when he's does it well. Happy new year buddy.
Number 2 looks like a spudger on steroids. Not sure if spudger is a technical or industry term, but Clive calls it that and thats what pops up when I google it. They're a great tool when a prybar is too much and you don't want to run the risk of damaging stuff. Great for working off optics when they've sort of glued themselves on slides of powered hole punchers.
pretty nice gadgets funk, hope to see more of your videos and funny shorts in 2024, by the way, i recommend you follow Todd from "Project Farm" before making any purchases on tools, he tests multiple different tool brands and tools, from screwdrivers, to wrenches to motor oil to welders and etc. He tests all of them straight to point with no biases whatsoever(he doesnt accept any sponsors either and buys everything with his own money). def one of the most useful channels out there.
Anyone that makes a decision based off one person's views especially project farm is a fool testing tools and exceeding the ansi specs doesn't mean it's a better tool nor does a price which are what his vids are based 100% off and is not realistic data but click bate views for youtube.
CP is 100% correct. Most of PF tests are not based on real usage and actually aren’t even good tests for functionality. I would not base anything on his findings.
They are called low profile mini fuses. But yes, if you have the clearance for it, you can just stick regular mini fuses in there, no problem, just did that in my car the other day, because they fit just fine and it was what I had laying around.
You mentioned that one of the things you didn't like about the Fat Ivan was that the magnet was recessed below the surface, and because of that, it didn't hold as well. Maybe the reason it is recessed is so it doesn't scratch the paint where you are putting it. But your point is valid, if you end up losing the Fat Ivan because it fell off, that wouldn't be good. Anyway, I will also add my thanks, you do great videos and give me good ideas for DIY tool additions. Have a great new year!
Really neat stuff. The door propper-opener thingy would be something I will look into. (also I bought one of the old stools, its great for FPV at the park, and it fits under the seat of my MC) Thanks for the vid, Happy new year. P:S: What is the micro fixed wing craft on the wall behind your left shoulder?
Hey man, we work on totally different equipment, but your recs have been great. I just got the handee clamp, im considering the 27 in 1 precision driver, and im going to buy that Fat Ivan, which to me sounds like a even dirtier version of a fission bomb. I'm also trting to decide between the toughbuilt bag and "stack tech" set. Though i will say that i like that rigid's stacking set comes off the wheels, so you can put whichever box on the bottom you want, which means obly taking in the one box you need if youre like me and have like 5 different kinds of customers with kits for each one.
Have a great New Years eve. Man that Handee loks real handy. God knows its a pain in the butt many times to get the fingers well up there and then try to do some work. Instead you got that nice little tool that do one thing and do it well.
Ya where was that tool in my youth , I used to install carpet cleaning machines in vans , it get pretty tight needing to through bolt everything, sometimes had no choice but to use lags. First install I did the customer came back saying every time he fills up he smells gas 😂😂😂
Hah, did I spot a square nut there? 😎 Great video and some handy bits and pieces. It's been great keeping up with your videos this year. Thank you for the laughs and All The Best For The Year Ahead Have a Happy New Year! Cheers!
Oh happy new year!, and thanks for saying just kidding for confusing the shi outta me lol cuz I fell for it and im going to buy it anyway 😅 you da BEST🎉
An idea for you, Mr. FunkFPV: Once a year lay out the contents of your basic tool bag and show them to us. Then in five or ten years (or whenever you retire) we can witness the march of Progress, or not.
