Hey guys, great video! Microbiologist here with a suggestion: always wear an N95 or full respirator when cleaning mouse droppings. You can get some truly horrific diseases, including a hemorrhagic fever that can kill even healthy adults! Vacuuming their droppings can also potentially aerosolize viral particles so I would highly recommend doing it outdoors with good ventilation if you need to (with respirators on!).

Bumping this up so the boys see this. I know in the past they have been very lax with safety, especially aerosol and stripping chemicals, but it's really not worth it to take these risks. It's about time they hired on a safety tech, it's a job just like a camera operator, or sound technician or producer. The company is big enough now to warrant that type of position.

This video brought tears to my eyes!!! My first car in 1996 was a 1988 Isuzu Impulse and it was the greatest car I've ever owned!!! After I graduated, my Dad continued to drive it as his work car. The motor lasted for an insane amount of miles with only clutch and transmission work. I over filled it with oil, wrecked the front end trying to do a 360° on wet pavement, got an eluding police, and DUII charge in my Impulse. I have always said, "If I win the lottery, I'm buying a Impulse!!!". I would gladly fly or drive down on my own dime to be able to sit behind that seat again. The instrument cluster is like a jet fighter, and so much fun!!! And the crazy stuff we (I) would do(climb out of the driver's side window and through the sunroof), brings back good times!!! I felt like Marty McFly's white trash cousin!!! Please make this sad man-child's dream come true...I need to take it around a track once, something I was never able to do!!!
@cytherians

I remember that car. I almost bought one, but then opted for a new Nissan Maxima SE (which was a fantastic car). The Maxima was much more practical, but man... I would sometimes see an Impulse and wish I'd been... more impulsive! 😂

Sandro, always great... He did mention something, I didn't really think about. Yes unhook everything from th motor to start it (pwr steer, ac, alternator, etc). You will get the maximum spin from the starter yielding the best results for the engine to start. Parasitic drain can keep an engine from starting. Great tip Sandro Donut!
@saeedhossain6099

My "barn find" was USED as a barn. It is a 2000 Impreza Outback Sport (the wagon version of a GC). The engine stopped running, so they parked it in a field and let the goats live in it. We bought it for 400, put about 1k in parts (had to replace the entire interior). Only thing I did to the engine was replace the coolant, oil, spark plugs and put a new coil pack on it. I’ve just restored a 1983 John Deere 420 garden tractor for my friends aunt. She said some one worked on it few yrs ago and that P&K said they will no longer work on that model since they discontinued parts. Anyways after doing some research and finding out how much value they retained. Also the fact it’s serial #223522 first model was #222001 was the first in 83 284+ is 84. Anyways found out it was rewired in correctly & have assed. After that I determined the condenser was bad. Went ahead and replaced the points and condenser then after doing a by ear and eye timing adjustment I not only got it working but running well as it did in 2004 when it’s B48G was rebuilt by John Deere. Only 1240hrs when without rebuilding can last up to 3,000. Garage kept, always maintained. It needed to live.

I have played with a few. First thing you want to do is with all your covers etc on you want to take compressed air and just blow things out. Wear a mask and a face shield as stuff WILL come back at you. This will get a majority of the stuff out without actually touching anything. This also includes any living things that may still have nest. Don't be surprised if you have a cluster of mice, snakes, insects etc come out of a bell housing etc. Second thing you should do is remove the valve cover(s) This lets you see the condition of the oil to know if you have a few inches of cake. If you have cake up top you probably have cake below and you need to manually get that cake pulled out of the engine so the pickup is actually able to pickup oil. This also lets you check to see if you have any broken rockers/bent pushrods/possibly broken valves/valve springs etc before the engine is turned over. Third thing is to remove all the spark plugs and drop a tablespoon of oil down into the cylinders. Check the condition of the plugs, wires, and so on. Lay down a piece of cardboard then drain the oil and install a new filter checking out the electrical, hoses, and so on on the underside. Shoot the underside with penetrating fluid at this point letting it drip on the cardboard. Go back up top and fill the thing with oil. I pour 1/2 quart over the (now clean) rockers then put the valve cover(s) on. I highly recommend removing the fuel lines looping the feed and return or if there is no return placing the fuel line in a bucket. This will keep as much junk out of the carb/regulatior/injectiors as possible. If you have a timing belt or chain with inspection port check the condition of the belt/chain and if possible tensioner(s) if really sketchy good idea to do this now so you dont risk hitting a valve with a interference engine. Next thing is to grab that big boy wrench and what you want to do here is just crank the pulley around 1/2" one way then 1/2" the other way to just free the rings up a bit. Go back and forth 2 or 3 times and then trying turning it over (often clockwise but check)1/4 turn. If it turns over easily with out any noises from rods, valves, timing items etc, you can then do a compression and leak down test as well as a coolant compression test. From here I just clean or rebuild the fuel system on anything with a ecm as most need the pump running and good fuel pressure to run. You dont need to go totally new hard lines and such but I do recommend a new filter, some new rubber, and at least blowing out the lines so you remove any "gel slugs" in those lines or layer of rust/sand sitting in the bottom of a tank. Ok now we get to the fun part with new fuel, fluids, new plugs, wires, and at this point we are ready to crank the engine over. By doing all the above you will know that your not running the engine dry, or will have a valve ready to hit a cylinder, or a broken timing belt/chain, or something else that can just destroy a engine within 2 minutes that otherwise would have potentially just needed some gaskets and fluids to run for several more worry free miles.

Alot of stuff mentioned Is most likely still perfect, you dont replace random stuff before inspecting and evaluating, fluids, battery and fuel stuff okay but the suspension stuff if isnt rusty or have play Is throwing Money away and likely thrashing fine OEM components to replace them with cheap stuff, not a smart move, stock shocks usually lasts 3 times more than monroes, same goes for cheap tie rods sold today and the list goes on, if you are upgrading to tougher components then ok or if the car is already been run in to the ground in salty roads before being parked okay, but if not Is stupid

As an owner of a 1999 Isuzu VehiCross, I highly approve of restoring this barn find. I would love to see a series of videos of them restoring it. Props to Sandro. If I got rat poop in my mouth, I would be retching uncontrollably.

We got used to funny and witty Sandro cause he usually react to weird situations, but it's FLAGRANT how knowledgable he is when you put him in his professional setting. Instantly catch the little noise, hints, and things you have to know about comes naturally. As a customer, seeing someone like this is gonna work on my stuff makes me instantly at ease

Seeing you all work on the car, and just doing your craft at the end was honestly magical. I know doing that stuff ain't gonna be cheap, so I am still happy to have seen it even once. Awesome job and find.

Bah, barn finds from hell?? $8k to make it move? Derek from VGG would need a leatherman and 2 days - and he'd drive it 1300 miles home.

About the civic, here in Ireland there was a time when Japanese hot hatches fell out of vogue, the EK4, EG6, EK9, EJ9, CA4A, CJ4A, AE101, AE111, Pulsar VZR. All these beautiful cars were neglected, ragged and ultimately scrapped. So few are left that they go for mental money so shells like that EG are sought after for conversions. Can't remember what my point was........gorgeous conversion.
