It always amazes me how many people say 'but it's a good car' when you tell them it's beyond repair ! Just because the cabin is dry and the radio works does not mean it's salvageable ! Then they say 'it just needs a service' and offer to pay £50 expecting that will keep it on the road for another couple of years when it hasn't been serviced in the last eight years and every ball joint, suspension strut and brake line needs replacing along with tyres, exhaust and brake pads and that's on top of an engine and gearbox rebuild, new clutch and radiator and full wiring harness on a 18yr old Corsa that's been rolled a couple of times !
I personally think German TÜV is a pita because I keep my cars in good shape for my own safety but seeing this I think in general something like this is needed due to the stupidity of so many people... SCARY!!!
Pay $60,000+++ for a vehicle and just put gas in it and drive it 'til it quits. 55 years ago when I was a teen pump-jockey, I thought it was horrible when someone drove in a 1950 car with worn-thru brake shoes, or dust on the bottom of the dipstick(s), or nothing but steam in the radiator, or TUBES showing thru the tire "treads"-those were barely $1000 NEW! I've seen the yellow-brown oil/coolant mix and rear main seals dribbling oil up the driveway, "I think I may-of hit summin..." and the tranny pan, oil pan or "pumpkin" is busted, "steerin' ain't quite right" because the tie rod is broken or the steering box is broken, "she's gringin' when I shift" because there's no clutch plate left, or "clutch pedal is stickin'" 'cause the throw-out bearing is GONE, the battery with NO TOP ON IT...steam comin' outta everywhere and NO BELTS left...raining day and NO WIPER re-fills LEFT, "whuzat scrapin' noise?"-Geez. My mechanic showed me the CENTER of a disc brake and had the OUTSIDE on his arm for a bracelet-woman with three kids in the car, half of one caliper was GONE! I'm 70 and hardly drive much, but my vehicles get oil and filters every 5000 miles with premium synthetics and "book services" more than twice as often as it says, 20K-25K on platinum plugs, 2011 Ram has had two "iffy" coil-packs replaced at 70K miles, I'm INSANE about tires! Two flat repairs and the tire gets replaced, often all FOUR-I've put the twenty-fifth "hot-patch" on inner tubes-looked like a patch-work quilt! $.50 cents for a patch, maybe $7 for a NEW TUBE!!! Thank God I didn't keep a camera with me in 1967 at the service station...the flathead Fords we HEARD comin' two miles away because everything behind the manifold was draggin' on the ground. Ya' offer to fix a "beater" for YOUR safety and they b*tch "That's too much money!!!" for salvage parts installed basically free-not one CENT of labor! Bless mechanics and appliance repairmen-all they get is griped at.
I will again ask this channel, and any other channel that does these “Customer State…” videos, to possibly EXPLAIN what we’re looking at. Some of us aren’t mechanics and have no idea what we’re looking at. A brief explanation would be great.
This is why here in the Uk we have a MOT inspection every year on every vehicle over 3 years old, to see that they are roadworthy. If not then you cannot drive it until it is.
Good for you. I'm sure there are zero downsides to this and it's surely not a way for the government to grab more of your money. BTW, if your not picking up my sarcasm chap, it seems you're deep throating the whole boot.
whu do some people even buy a car? there shoud be an iq-limit for owning and driving cars - dont need to be a genious to figure out that cars are machines, and machines needs maintenance
