Thnks - lots of posts on eng-tips of people struggling with this

Wanted to do something similar for mold cooling lines design keeping in mind the minimum bending radius and also a feature where the pipes wouldn't clash with each other. Auto cooling line piping with just In and Out tags would be a dream

I've added a link to the part files in the Description. These are saved in NX10 so they should work for most folks out there. Enjoy.

I really like this video, but I have one question. If there is a way to edit an existing routing spile and add a new point between existing points can you please create a video on that subject?

Very interesting and useful function. But if I use this function with TC, after releasing the assy as deformable (say revision A), if I want to use it in another assy in a newly deformed state, I would need to create an new revision (i.e. B) to be able to update the assy?

Can you simulate the hose running along a wall? I mean, is it possible to constraint it to a wall so that it runs tangent or parallel (with a small clearance) to the wall? Thank you!

Yes you can by using Stock Offset Points or Stock Offset Surface. (MAX_PATH_STOCK_DIA/2.0) controls the offset. If the points created are associative to the surface, then if the surface moves the points and space reservation move too. You can also simulate droop or slack between tie points with Slack Mode.

When i perform override constraints, constraints are not storing under parent. please let me know why. because of this even i move the fittings routings is not updating . fitting alone moving.

i guess its problem with nx

Define deformable command is not visible after adding apace reservation feature Can you please advise on this?

Please let me know why. My NX don't show direction of fittings in assembly.

Does anyone know a way to edit the default minimum bend radius when using space reservation?

Do you know it already? I need to do it and I have no idea how to.

yeah you can. you just have to right click on the spline > spline path> there is a radius option in there

I have a question, you stated that you can add nodes or points after the deformable is done. How can you do that, I haven't been able to figure out how to get a node or point in between an existing point node already.

Amanda, there are a couple things here. The first thing I look at is the Point on Curve or Line Snap Point. NX has made a bunch of changes from when I first recorded this video on what the snap toolbar looks like but the tool is still there. You must also be in the Routing Application to make the change. In regular Modeling application, I can manipulate the hose ends and the space-reservation will update but I cannot actually change (add or subtract points) the Route Spline object. Check your Part Navigator in the Assembly file to see that there is actually a deformation feature. I just tried this in NX1926 and, while in the Mechanical Routing application, I can add points to the spline and manipulate them.

[Nephew of Ida] One think I am not understand. Near 2:47 I can move the component with double click? It was too fast, even when the settings are turn to 0.25 for the speed. Or is there an extra menu/window?

Go to your menu tabs> Assemblies> Move Component

Hello Jason, just i wonder how accurate this deformation represent a real world rubber hose or whatever other hose material?

2:49 When I move my fitting the space reservation won't move as well how it did in in your video. Instead it keeps the position until I accept the movement of the fitting. How did you get it to synchronize the fitting movement with the movement of the space reservation?

Routing uses constraints similar to Assembly constraints between the routed spline and the hose end component. If you use Place Part and use the Routing Control Points (RCPs), the routed line/spline will be tied to the RCP in the hose end. When one moves, the other will also move.
