Thanks PGI for helping resurrect Battletech. You guys were the ones that successfully told Harmony Gold to F off and opened the flood gates for the Battletech turn based video game that is often credited (partially rightfully so) for the re-emergence of this franchise. Hyped for this game I never got a chance to play the old MW games. I also appreciate that there isn't a preorder reward, just a "buy in first week" reward.

Those tactics worked in the opening years of the invasion, later on, into the later years of the war those tactics were old news, useless against the Combine and against the Steiners once they got their shit together. Also, technically, they are *not* against their credo. They make a claim of what they need to take down the local security forces, and the enemy tells them who defends the world, if they agree to 1 on 1 fighting its all good, but most inner sphere units rely on stacking their fire onto one mech and once that happens, the Clan force is allowed to dominate as they see fit since the inner sphere broke the rules of the agreement. The Jade Falcons rely too heavily on the main credo and doctrine, which is why they failed more often as they got closer and closer to Terra, losing mechs which get shipped off to another planet to be studied and refurbished if they are in one piece.

Nice to see anything that's got a strong tie to the TT game. I've got a few TRs, but really the bulk of my BT books are the lore ones. Used, new, undefined, just can't stop. However, regarding the digital collector's edition TR: I need tree fiber, gloss cover, and tactile sensations. Still, good thinking!

Eh they feel a bit hit or miss - the beam lasers and machine guns sound the best they ever have in the series, but the pulsed lasers are a bit generic, and the PPC is just... weird, in both sound and visuals - the sound is oddly quiet and very generic and bland sounding, and the visual effects are _very_ strange - it seems to just instantly cause a big electric explosion on the target the instant it fires, with no visible projectile coming out of the gun at all.

Relatively speaking (compared to nothing) it's quite an expense to write disks, print packaging, and distribute. On the flip side anyone with motivation should be able to make their own box, especially if using a modern DVD case.

@@kryptonianguest1903I still don’t like their “justification” for the contractions. Contractions in clan society aren’t like curse words, they’re just improper grammar to them. Using contractions wouldn’t make him seem like a rebel that’s always cursing, it would make him sound like an idiot who doesn’t know how to speak properly. Freeborn do this to spite trueborns, but a trueborn wouldn’t have any real reason to use contractions. The whole thing feels forced

I’ve had a crew lined-up for this since June. LAN-partied MW2 a bunch, way back in the day. Even started with MW1 for DOS. I have Mercs and I really enjoy the vibes it has to the original. There’s just not enough 5-player co-op games out there. I am wholeheartedly excited for this!! 🙏

the new musics, the audio visual looks gorgeous, and the old sense of "simulation"(realism) is very evident already. it does feels like you are inside a big robot, and moves like a real robot(not like riding a floating virtual camera). the visual convinced the "large" feel. the whole effects, the lightings, the futuristic city/base complex design, it fits everything in the atmosphere. it gives me goosebumps.

My one criticism is that the 'Mechs do not seem to react to the impact of what's hitting them even a little bit. The player's targets keep on trucking, seemingly undeterred by 5 'Mechs worth of firepower being directed at them until a limb magically falls off, and then they fall over. You'd expect to see some sort of impulse being imparted depending on the calibre of weapon being fired and where it strikes.

The soundtrack sounds fantastic. The only real disappoints are the HUD (wish it was cleaner) and that the models of the characters for the comms calls look like they were imported from MW2 into Unreal Engine 5...

But does it have absolute axes control modes when using a joystick? That's really the ideal way to control it with a joystick by putting the torso on the x/y on one stick. In MW5: Mercs joysticks only have relative control modes which controls terribly. The only way to get absolute control modes with a joystick in MW5: Mercs is to make a joystick emulate a mouse, but this isn't ideal.

my only gripe is from what we have seen i havent seen any clan elementals in battle armor and i doubt we will, which is a shame because of their importance to the assault on the inner sphere in the lore. maybe at least a mission escorting a group of them into urban positions as they ride on your mech or something

It's weird cause in Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries there's literally a mod that adds in infantry into the game that's officially made by Piranha games. So it's not impossible to add in elementals since those are basically super heavy infantry if memory serves.

Long term mechwarrior player. Anxiously anticipating the game. The pilot commentary makes it seem like Star Fox 64 "Great shot!!!" Some obnoxious editing in this video. We wanted to see that physics collision with the centurion! (as a centurion would always rambo towards 5 mechs without engaging it's shield)

Has there been any talk about whether they are going to attempt to implement zellbrigen in any fashion? I'm sure they can find a story reason to ignore it if they decide to, but I still have a little hope that they at least add in options to enable some of the rules of zell. Being able to challenge mechs, or being challenged by them, and not being able to lock other enemies until your challenged target is down, and being locked out of using melee attacks until an opponent uses them on you first could be a fun layer of challenge to add for folks who are interested. I haven't heard or seen any indication that zell is going to show up in gameplay yet, but I may just have missed it.

I think the command view could actually serve that purpose, as you can order your starmates to attack certain targets or, i think, cease fire. I would probably try to fight 1vs1 with my star in the first mission or two, then accept pragmatically the Spheroid way of fighting. I think It will be a necessity as the enemy IS factions will probably be even more in horde mode

Interface design and sound effects straight from 2000. Bet price will be from 2077. Do you remember how Castles portrait displayed from left side. Why do you put every thing in the middle ? Is it really hard to create modern interface? Stagnation all over.

Can my 5 years old laptop handle this? i7-8750H (2,2GHz), GTX1080, 24 GB RAM. When I play Mercs GPU temp is around 89 °C. I think I need more powerfull laptop. I prefer laptop over desktop because it is easy to transport.
