Thank you for this! A table showing the pathophysiology of MAS was shown in Nelson’s textbook of pediatrics, but your video made me understand and correlate it better. Thanks!
My baby was put into inculbator, got oxygen, medicine through IV, and got much better after a day. She got out of incubator but had to have the IV for another day. After two days in NICU, after tehy removed the IV, I could finally take her to my hospital room. She was fine so we could leave the hospital in another two days and she is completely healthy now, 9 months later.
Most babies with MAS will recover but may be more susceptible to lung infection during the first year of life when lungs are still recovering. Sounds like "you should floss more" kinda advice from your doctor...
My baby was born with MAS. I guess it was caused by induced labor. I got IV to induce labor at 11:50 and baby was born 13:28. It was very painful and very short birth. No surprise baby got distressed. She inhaled meconium into her lungs and needed oxygen and medicine through IV and stayed in NICU for two days but has not had any complications thereafter, luckily!
