Listen people, I'm no NASCAR expert or historian. I know some things, but not everything. Like many fans, I'm always learning new things and new bits of history. Thanks to those who were kind in their comments in letting me know the JKS connection. To those who were not kind, thanks for watching, commenting, and making me a little money. 👍
Let's review the upcoming Mecum auction of The Winston Cup Museum cars!

Jks motorsports was the company responsible in building most of the show cars for NASCAR teams Stapleton 42 RU-vid channel did a video with the guy that ran the museum. I may talk about all of that.

Jks motorsports ran promotions for Winston from the 80’s through the end of their sponsorship. These cars have a pretty storied history from a different point of view than most collectors typically come from.

Thanks for the video. I agree with a couple of others on the Earnhardt seat it may be a seat he actually built. I have saw the video of him building his seat and this does look similar. If it’s not it’s still cool that they put one similar to his in there. 👍🏼

"As raced" doesn't necessarily mean "exactly like it came off of the track." It means that it wasn't rebodied or had any major repairs or repaint. When a car was unloaded off of the trailer after a race, the engine was out within a half hour and sent over to the engine shop, The shocks, springs, rear gear, and transmission were removed and inspected, then put back into rotation to be used on various other cars and at various other tracks. If the car was scheduled to be raced again soon then all of the suspension, steering and brakes were removed and rebuilt, then reinstalled. "As raced" would mean that the car was retired after that event and the suspension and steering would have been left on.

It’s just funny how many people act like they know nascar. But the don’t. So typical of this new nascar fan. I am 38 but was raised on and by early nascar. Now days it’s all money and forget the history part. NASCAR is not proud of where they came from so they are running from it.

Like these cars. Some of those chassis are priceless. People don’t realize what happens to a cup car when nascar teams were down with them. Bodies and chassis go separate ways. So it’s nice to see a couple of his cars he was able to do that with. Some of the hoods and body panel he has. Or like the left right car that was a sunbird rcr made. Racing history.

JKS was created in 1983 or 1984 by Will Spencer (Winston Cup Museum owner) Since he built show cars as a business, he used some of his own parts to complete the cars. Dale car will go for 200K.

Will Spencer, the owner/founder of the Winston Cup Museum owned/founded JKS. He built promotional cars often from race used or show cars. Not surprised JKS is all over the cars. It is my understanding that old confetti was found under the drivers seat in the 42 car.

JKS did a lot a team / sponsor show cars. They often did different cars as needed for clients, sponsors, etc. JKS did the marketing for the RJR branded series sponsorship. Some of the cars may have been other team cars with a decal package to suit a need. Many were wrecked cars and repaired by JKS folks Example the 28 car is a former Junie Donlavey 90 car painted as a tribute Davey Allison.. These cars will be sold on Sunday January14, 2024

As pointed out, Dale made his own seat out of 60s mustang seat. Theres also a super bird there that was driven by Dave Marcus, look at that seat and youll see basically what Dales seat is. Bill Simpson was unfairly targeted by fans about the so called seat belt issue, but Dale was riding around in a 40yr old seat design that didnt anchor the belt at the right degree of angle. I wonder if this isnt a Mike Skinner car converted into a #3 car. Richard claims to have all but a couple of Dales cars. As you pointed out, without proper paperwork from RCR i wouldn't be a bidder, remember about 5yrs ago when a Dale Jr car should up at a auction that turned out to be a not a Jr car after all.

That last gauge you looked at appears to be a vacuum gauge. I can't think of a good reason to have one in the car unless it's to see if the air filter gets clogged or something goofy like that. Or I guess during a yellow, they could push in the clutch and see if it shows any sign of a burned valve or a dead cylinder or something. Still doesn't seem like it's needed. But, then again, the driver might have been old old old school with his gauges.
@jarvistotherow-competitive7429
@jarvistotherow-competitive7429 6 месяцев назад
That is most likely a magnehelic gauge which does measure pressure negative and positive but to a much smaller degree than a regular vacuum gauge. These were used during testing to measure air pressure in various places: in the air box, in the cowl, on top of the deck lid, etc..

19:30 I have some close up videos of that exact #3 Dale Earnhardt car when it was at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2023 (coming to my channel soon). I also pushed it to bump start it as the battery died when they were starting to go out for the parade on the Sunday. Jamie had his hands up in the driver seat, I quickly went over and asked him if he wanted to try a bump start, in a deflated fashion he said sure, so a few of us gathered quickly and got it moving, thankfully it fired up, shot forward like a rocket.

Very interesting auction. I like that most don't even have a reserve - might be some affordable deals but hope Will gets fair prices. The Hemi Daytona is awesome and runs too. I agree with you and hope it's restored to its #30 graphics. Lots of cool hoods and uniforms too.
@Loner2012AT
@Loner2012AT 6 месяцев назад
Guessing the #3 car goes higher, $325,007. Think I remember Dale liked using seats that were based on a Ford Mustang seat. Not the Butler Built style seats everyone else had in those days. Even the seat in the DW car looks more modern than Dale's. To me that points more toward the #3 (and the #11) being authentic.

The 3 car seat may be right. I’ve heard Junior and a few others talk about how weird Senior was about his seat. He liked it way down low, he’d even beat the floor down to get the seat lower. He didn’t like big wrap around seats, or so I’ve heard. It may well be the correct seat from the original build.

JKS motorsports is Will Spencer’s (the owner of the museum) shop. He not only had a museum but for years he had a shop that he worked out of putting together cars for nascars publicity stuff. You asked in the video: "Why would the car not have shocks?" Shocks were a tuning tool and not really considered part of "the car." During the course of a race weekend, shocks will get changed out to try something different. They might change all four, or they might change just fronts/rears, or they might change a single shock.

Cool video Scott. I'm going $268.000 on the #3 car. The #28 car being a 1997 Thunderbird is not Daveys because he passed away in 1993. You would think something being in a museum would be closer to the real thing not just something thrown together and passed off as real.

robbieeades1956 I've visited a lot of racing "museums" & it is disgraceful what fakes some of those places try to pass off as "the real car." An example from my generation-A car that won the prestigious Daytona Permatex 300 3 TIMES in the 1970's, driven by Bill Dennis, was stripped & repainted red & became "The" Donnie Allison driven #27 Ford in a certain museum here in Alabama.

Huge KP fan here! If you look at the video from Dover in 95, the front air ducts don't line up, also the air ducts from the left rear window only show 2 ducts not 3, the duct on the B piler does not go past the white decal line unlike the the car that is being sold. Further more its it's missing the DieHard and 3M decals from the winning car. In a video that Mitchel posted it was stated that there was confetti in the car when TWCM acquired the car. Two things, the TNT broadcast shows no confetti on the car. Kyle was spent and receiving oxygen, I have to assume the last thing they would want in victory lane is confetti while Kyle is receiving oxygen. Hard to see in the car in victory lane so can't compare. Hope this info helps people!

The reason why the switches are different all each teams have different switches for each car. They have different switches NASCAR changes those all the time Changes the switches Butler belt sometimes are made by Simpson sometimes are made by ButlerBuilt Motorsports Equipment like the companies that make the gauges and tachometer. They have all the switches and stuff like that it’s just a company that has the switches. I think they put the sticker on there for himinsurance purposes because of the company that own owned the Hall of Fame where the cars were in
