I always look forward to your uploads! Can't wait for you to play MoH Airborne. It was one of my childhood games. Glad to see you’re feeling better too!
Airborne is hard at first...gets easier as you level weapons up, especially the stg 44. But i think the hardest part is the hp system. Youre super fragile and mg42s eat you alive. G43 sniper germans can two tap an hp segment. And panzershrecks are basically undodgeable and can one tap you even at full hp, and destroy 3 health segments on a near miss at best. Hardest parts for me were the final push on operation avalanche (level 2) and operation neptune (level 3). Bridge on market garden is miserable due to panzershreck spam and infinite respawning enemies. Der flakturm (final level) is hard cause of the panzershreck and mg42 spam and its easy to get lost. I can imagine your hp melts nigh instantly on expert. Thankfully, being the most open ended MoH it gives lots of opportunities to flank enemies. And some c4 objectives can be completed just by shooting a panzershreck or using a gammon grenade instead of a risky planting. And you can carry a lot of ammo, especially explosives at max level and theres hidden full hp and ammo restores in most missions. Its also one of the most buggy MoHs IMO. Enemies stick their heads out of cover and dont move, you can get on top of the bridge in market garden with some edge walking to cheese the whole thing, and you can permanently increase your max ammo capacity for the M18 or panzershreck on der flakturm by picking up the M18 and swapping it with every panzershreck on the map. You can end up with over 50 ammo capacity which makes the mission way easier as it can destroy flak guns, kill groups and two hit mg42 soldiers.
I remember beating the mortar level only after playing MoH: Pacific Assault because that game had a tutorial on mortar use and the way it worked was similar enough between games.
Bro missed 96 smg rounds at the back of the truck after blowing up that tank and getting the keys to rescue the prisoners. Believe me, it took me years and years of exploration to get to know this game fully. And I enjoyed it a lot.
Found my MoH PA 4 disk box and installed on my pc with fixes for widescreen played on Easy i was like nice lets try hard for fun ...... It was not fun 😅
@@rycroft2557 I finished the game in 2019 or so but entirely forgot about that portion of it till now lol. feels out of place, but I get why it's there.
My man went through The Flu, a cold and pneumonia + Fever just to immediately endure this afterwards. You poor bastard deserve a purple heart for that. Fantastic as always.
That Jeep arc was insane lmao. I forgot how difficult and RNG dependent that level was. Quicksave definitely plays huge part in saving your mental state but yeah it completely defeats the challenge. Congrats on finishing Breakthrough! It was so fun to watch!
This is exactly what we want Sour. You've done it, the video is perfect. The difficulty, the commitment, the memes. We will always watch a video of this quality.
Same here but i still love the Medal of Honor Games that Soubdtrack from Michael Giacchino is the best i ever heard in a WW 2 Game ! Never Reached again in any ww2 shooter since. That Soundtrack makes such a great Atmosphere.
this series has passed the pat where i remember nostalgically playing the games and now i remember nostalgically watching my dad play these last few lol
he delivered. he absoultly delivered. awesome. cant wait to watch it. im so happy someone like him does this for us. and i cant wait until he tries more. im curiuos what we get next
While the Allied Assault saga is over, 2015's isn't. They had another shooter that started in development after called Men of Valor, that's basically Allied Assault but in the Vietnam War. Could be worth having a look at that too someday.
Every time I hear men of valor, I think about how long the game can feel at times, especially in the final levels on the city. in terms of difficulty It has many moments where you are swarmed by enemies, similar to MoHAA, can be frustrating at times, combined with the healing mechanic. Aside from that, it's probably the only single-player FPS game set during the Vietnam War that's worth playing (that has a budget)
Even on Normal, i thought this game was hard as nails. Props for beating it on Hard. I'd never dare to do it, even with savescumming at my disposal. If you are planning to do Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, I have to warn that it is even worse, as it has a 'Realistic' difficulty setting that takes away all your HUD, and you die in one sniper/rifle shot, and if you are lucky to survive a single shot, there is a bleeding mechanic that you need a press a button to stop the bleeding. And to heal you need a medic to heal you (Once per level load on Realistic, 2 or more in lower difficulties). And the game is janky too (the sliding hills are here too), but it's also my favorite MoH game too.
Hey Sour, when you are done with the Medal of Honor series. Could you try out Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, Earned in Blood, and Hell's Highway on Authentic difficulty? I think you might enjoy them.
First experience with those games was the Wii version, felt fun carefully aiming manually and making motions to throw grenades and rally the squad, though Rommel's Aspergers level was just utter bullshit with infinite respawning machinegun positions and needing to blow up poles all while under fire.
Ah yes, how far fps games have come since the days of Medal of Honor. I played through this expansion on normal, saving the game every time I felt like I was about to get shot. Truly this is an experience for those who are out of ww2 single player games to try or masochists.
the fact that you spot on some italian pronunciation impressed me grate job! i feel sorry that you are going thru this gameplay harsher than probably dark souls itself but in the end at least you feel reliefed
It's good to have you back to better health, Sour. Been really fun watching your journey through these old shooters on the hardest difficulty. To be honest, it's amazing you haven't lost your mind yet haha. I really think you're inspiring people to play these classics again which is so rewarding to see. Thanks for your dedication brother.
Great video, as always. You're the best let's play channel out there, without a doubt. I personally don't care about these old CoD/MoH games, but you just make it fun. I literally watched maybe 3 full game let's plays in my life before stumbling upon this channel. Also, CoD Ghosts and Advanced Warfare when?
Everything about this game, the difficulty, the music, the atmosphere, the sounds, the gameplay, the authentic feeling. Everything. It is so awesome. And hard. I have really good memories of this game. Especially the music and sounds especially
Oh hey, it's my comment! I forgot how brutal that jeep section was until I watched this, I have reinstalled MOHAA and I think I'm gonna give it a play now. Pacific Assault is also difficult but they added some new mechanics that make it, uh, interesting to say the least. Congrats Sour, now wish me luck as I attempt it for the giggles.
Oh man XD THE PAIN CAN COMMENCE! 16:42 doesn't even bother picking up the box of bullets on the table (rolls eyes) here we go again! He also doesn't use the anti aircraft guns in the sicily landing level to destroy the inbound trucks. (facepalm) Some interesting things I found on the Gela mission: If you go down the road past the MG house theres another small house that has supplies inside. The dark brown colored wooden barrels in the village can be destroyed (shooting or melee) and occasionally have supplies inside. Holy crap Sour got through the mortar section that grieved all of us in ONE TRY. Yeah the Monte Battaglia jeep segment absolutely sucks because it seems to be random if the enemies attacking have MP40's or rifles in that opening segment near the truck.
I was in shock that the tanks never hit him. I gotta go back now and see if it's actually awful like I remember or if 7 year old me just couldn't aim the mortar properly.
Just starting the video but just by the title... I know your pain, brother. I used quicksaves and still had to ragequit for about a week before beating it on Hard.
oh boy! i love when you play these MOH games I hope you do first MOH rising sun and frontline too! Hell i hope you do all of them! I really enjoy all of these.
Awww hell yeah my comment made it into the video! And its over 3 hours long?!?! This is going to be a fun watch......can't wait for the last few levels.......
He will gonna suffer in this game. This f… game doesn’t have checkpoints 😂 In the first run you want to break the PC when you die at the end of the level and had to restart all over again
21:00 you might have had a sinus infection if you had debilitating headaches with sinus/ear pressure. Anyways, thanks for the great and entertaining content as always!
3,40 hours later and I SALUTE you, sir! It takes a special kind of dedication to accomplish what you have done here. This game truly is... something. It makes you rage for 90% of the time, yet when it's all over, there is a surge of triumph. I almost want to go back and replay all three games, despite knowing that I am in for more pain. It's also so bizarre that the developers actually tested the game so they can know when to add an enemy that drops ammo. We may never see a game like this ever again... Random trivia about Breakthrough multiplayer: this was the earliest game I can recall where you could CHOOSE your character in MP. You could choose between any of the nations in the game: you can play as a Soviet against an Italian in Normandy. And they all had their unique weapons to choose from. More than a decade before CoD let you pick operators. I even remember this one game mode where, if you die, you get put in a cage with the rest of your team, and had to hope one of your teammates rescues you. Good times.
Once again thank you for doing this Sour quite the amazing ride you had Breakthrough while tough I still find it quite memorable myself…except the mortar part and the last mission…. But I do hope you get to Pacific Assault soon.
I remembered playing a medal of honor game, but i didn't remember the name until i got halfway through your video. Even on medium this was unforgiving to teenage me
thankies again for continuing the adventures in "Medal of Honor" franchise. Looking forward to see the complete saga. Hope you get well soon. i find this game is quite annoying that: 1. the Italians can be seen wearing British Battledress and webbing alongside American M1 Helmet or Brodie, plus the post-war Flag. it would make more sense for post-WWII. 2. The British are wearing the Paratrooper gear, Denison camo and all, in North Africa. 3. That P26/40 tank when you're with Lt. Phillips is comically huge, it's almost like a FIAT 2000. I think they just didn't have time and resources that thay had to reuse assets.
When it came to the Italians, they probably just randomly chose some Osprey plates or something and didn't realize they were modeling post-Armistice of Cassibile co-belligerent Allied Italians. That really bothered me too as it was very obvious they were wearing British and American gear. At least the last patch for the game added an excellent Paracadutisti uniform for multiplayer, but unfortunately back in the day nobody installed that patch so neither it nor the Breda M30 ever got much use. However, for 2, British paratroopers were active in the Tunisian Campaign and do appear in footage wearing the full gear, Denison camo and all. British 1st Army was the first major appearance on the field of a lot of things more associated with late-war Northwestern Europe, including No. 4 rifles, Stens, economy pattern Battledress uniforms, etc. Northern Tunisia is a Mediterranean climate with a lot of hills and greenery, and the winter of 42-43 was cold, wet, and muddy there. Not the same environment as the Western Desert campaign.
That was an enjoyable watch. I'm glad you chose to cover the expansions for this game. It would be exciting to see you check out Pacific Assault and other two "modern" games on PC.
Man, 8 year old me struggled so much with this expansion. I was so proud when I finally made it past the sub base in the main game. Only to finish it and be absolutely crushed by Breakthrough 😂 the bit where the agent says he needs thirty seconds to open the door honestly took me weeks to get past because i never had enough ammo to defend him.
Since i guessed you are going to pacific assault after this, here's are pros and cons: Pros: + You get a teammate throughout all the missions consist of a BAR guy, a sniper guy, and a medic + BANZAI CHARGES + There is an entire level that you could actually skips if you know how Cons: - your teammate kinda suck at some missions and you gotta keep them alive - the medic will heal you for limited times and would become useless after he ran out of medkits - the swamp level and some sections on the last level - And the absolutely ridiculous flying mission which i would prefer to skip whenever i replayed pacific assault
Youre forgetting some other ones. Like heals being insanely rare outside of your limited medic uses which are not refilled between area transitions usually. If Jimmy the corpsman is healing another team mate and you go into bleedout he wont rescue you in time. The game rewards exploration with hidden weapons or objectives like freeing prisoners. Two gun limit now but you can have whatever combo of guns you want. You can somewhat direct your comrades who are invincible. Really bad screen blur when firing mounted MGs along with limited mounted MG ammo. As you said though plane level sucks. I learned that if you run out of bombs when targeting the ships you can actually just shoot them with MGs till they die which have infinite ammo. Also the swamp level is eh but id say that Makin Atoll (2nd level) is pretty hard just because you don't have many heals yet (you get more medic uses in later levels) and you dont have access to the better weapons like the LMGs, or the springfield, which one shots on any part of the body. I also found Guadalcanal to be hard due to the length of the defense section along with the limited ammo for the howitzer
gawd i hope you do COD Ghost one day cuz ive been enjoying your playtrough on COD and MOH and have fun watching them. your commentary is legit always funny.
If you enjoyed that medic following you and sometimes giving health youre going to love Pacific Assault. You get a medic that follows you for 4/5 of the game!
You say that but Jimmy has a limited amount of heals per level. Early on you only get a few and they have to last you for a LONG time. Plus if hes healing another soldier and youre in bleedout he wont get to you in time.
38:55 holy crap that caught me off guard 🤣 I always thought the friendly AI had its own health flask, but I guess at times they are able to pick it up from the game world.
Ridiculously hard even on Easy. And ammo drops nerfed to nothing. Most of the time I died or struggled at parts of Breakthrough wasn’t because the gameplay was difficult, but because there wasn’t enough ammo to deal with all the enemies.
