Medeli AKX10 Keyboard Styles - The good and the BAD! 

Medeli AKX10 Keyboard is made in Hong Kong for the local music market, so you have a bonky bass and no musical warmth below the middle 'C'. It is the Asian ears where the lower notes are gongs brassy hard with a one-note-sounding bass. Whereas Euro is based on African music, warm deep colourful rhythmic lower register coupled with the higher register. Western Euro ears are differently tuned to Asian ears.

I appreciate your video because of how honest you are about the product. Many reviews are misleading because some RU-vidrs potentially collaborate with the company to promote the product without providing an honest analysis of its limitations. There is no comparison between this and Genos. The styles are too flat and uninspiring, and the sounds lack articulation and maturity. It sounds like a toy, which justifies its price.

When you said "fire alarm" I laughed out loud and fell off my chair.🤣 I'm also disappointed that there isn't one useful style. I agree that the content is also very important. We are in 2023 come on. An extremely detailed and transparent review.

Well, I owned the Medeli AKX briefly about 2 1/2 years ago. I bought it after playing it in a store but brought it back two weeks later and picked up a Yamaha PSR SX900. There is obviously a big price difference between the two boards and I would not be critical of anyone who opts/opted for the Medeli. For me, however, the absence at that time of any kind of ecosystem for the Medeli convinced me to go with the Yamaha. The learning curve for these instruments is robust and I could not find one significant Medeli instructional video. In retrospect, I might have kept the AKX had Medeli thought to support their board. The fact that nothing was available made me a skeptic on how committed Medeli was to the instrument. If things have improved that would be more of an enticement to own. You play very nice even though probably you as experienced keyboard player don't enjoy very much this instrument I really did enjoy your playing , thx a lot

You can avoid the pedal noise when you set the piano sound as layer 3 sound (R3)

There is one thing I am wondering about. The device has 768 MB sample memory. Can we delete this memory and use it again at any time, or is there a set loading approach like Korg? Let's say I created a large multi-layered piano (for example 500mb) and played the piece. Can I then switch to other sampled instruments immediately?

Hi. I just received my Meddle AXK10 and I have my own pedal (you know, the sliver ones that look more like a piano pedal). Every time I use it, the entire unit vibrates inside when my foot lifts off the pedal. It's very distracting and want to ask if yours makes this same noise. (kind of an echo thud). Thank you!

Thx for the interesting video! I am personaly not realy a friend of China's "copy industry". It looks like they got the "blueprint" of the yamaha sx900 und produced their own. That's a no go for me to buy it no matter how good is it. Secondly we actualy don't know, if this key will be still working after 2 years. Quality issues unknown. And btw, if I am low of budget, I would rather buy a 2nd-Hand-Key from Yamaha, Korg or other brand well known for its quality!

Hi Leigh I enquired recently when you would review Pt 3 of this keyboard, you have and I am so glad you did. The styles I thought were awful and as you suggested were not aimed at Europe mkt. Your review was spot on and having considered the possible future purchase of this my view is now to give it a miss and will continue to watch your Genos vids. and include buying in my bucket list. Thanks for your efforts and please keep on with the education and appreciation of what these keyboards are capable of. Best.

I think this pack is good for increasing creativity. Not a repeating stuff. My opinion.

That first style you said was unplayable, slow it down a little and it goes with Brittany spears , Toxic. A great song for the staccato violin.

This keyboard has one of the best styles way better than all PSR's but has very bab sounds.

HI LEIGH. WATCHED THE VIDEO LAST NIGHT ON THE MEDELI KEYBOARD. I HAVE TO SAY I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOUR OPINION ON IT. ITS RUBBISH. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUSE KEAYBOARDS IN THE PAST AND THEY SOUNDFED FAR BETTER THAN THAT,. I THOUGHT IT WAS AWFULL.

Hello! Given what I've just heard, I can only conclude that the Medeli is for those people who have more spare time than money. The styles are really poor. The orchestration is completely wrong, the melodies and rhythms are uninspiring and quite frankly, it isn't worth the effort even at that price point. The arrangements also appear to have been poorly mixed as instruments are unevenly matched in volume and the panning is wrong. Mastering has also been done poorly as the mixes have no energy and sound two-dimensional. Seriously, arrangers from more than 20 years ago sound better than this. It's quintessentially Chinese if you ask me - looks good on paper, but disappoints in practice. It's because hardware can be replicated and it isn't hard to replicate an electronic circuit. Software, on the other hand, is a different matter and it is what makes or breaks a product like this. On the other hand, if one intends to use 3rd party stytles and samples (and one will certainly want to!), it might be a decent instrument. Cheers!
