The glorification of being "self made" makes people who actually have nepotism to thank for at least a contribution to their success be blinded by their privilege and believe that everything they have achieved is solely due to their own merit
I think there's an important layer they need to be added to the nepo baby talk that these people don't have any aptitude or talent in the field that they have gone into and it is their relation to a famous person that is the driving Factor behind the opportunities Because it is possible to have talent but just be born to somebody in that field but a lot of these people are mid and getting opportunities of a lifetime

@Nia they purposely narrowed the meaning of nepotism or its modern usage Example: If my father is the CEO of a company and he hires me his son that is the most outright case of nepotism BUT If my father is the owner of a company but I choose to do music and because of my father's wealth I can afford to devote 100% of my time toward music as opposed to someone who's father doesn't own a company and has to work for a living while making music. If my career takes off sooner due to my ability to devote more time to my craft and it comes as a direct result of my father's wealth. That's still nepotism. It's indirect nepotism. No my father isn't in the music industry and he didn't actively get me a job in the music industry but it was his wealth and him owning a company that allowed me to devote the time to chasing my dream that other people might not have had. Privilege and generational wealth in a nutshell in and of itself is a form of nepotism. But I get it these daughters and son and grandchildren of wealthy people wanna feel like they did it themselves so who am I to crush their delusions? Just let em have it.
