I was already seeing some confusion in the comments about the average life duration statistics. I can assure everyone that the clips of me “giving up” and dying during Uber were from after the spreadsheet was completed, and I was just trying to capture funny moments. Additionally, the big reason for this discrepancy is from how I play using stock Uber. I generally sit further in the back where I can abuse crit heals and build safety while buffing as many of my teammates to a complete 150% as I can. Then I Uber in when ready. That playstyle doesn't work with quick fix because of the weak buffs, so you are forced into more of a frontline healing role, which will unsurprisingly lead to more deaths. Yes, quick fix heals more than stock if you have the same amount of deaths, but that is UNREALISTIC and IRRELEVANT DATA because, in real causal games, it's just easier to stay alive while being just as effective with stock. With quick fix ON AVERAGE, you will die more, thus resulting in less healing if you play stock differently like I do. I also play very aggressively with the vaccinator, yet it has even longer lives than stock because of bubbles safeguarding the medic. Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

The Quick-Fix having the lowest win-rate makes sense to me because I typically only switch to it when my team is in a losing position. In other words, the QF has always been my "I'm on the losing team" pick. The disadvantages don't come into play as much when your team just doesn't possess the skill required to optimally take advantage of getting Ubered or Kritz'd. So I find the QF is the most useful when your team has a survival problem. And hey, maybe it doesn't actually help that much more when your team is a lost cause, but when your team ignores when they're being Ubered anyway, why not just switch out an Uber for a faster way to delete how much damage your careless team keeps absorbing. Great video!

I was gonna write out a comment about my thoughts on why I think it's still pretty good but this pretty much sums it up since I generally default to it in those situations as well since generally all the other mediguns need you to have someone who can utilize the uber

@Theory-Y
@Theory-Y 9 месяцев назад
Yeah that makes sense anecdotally, but when recording these stats I wasn’t switching to the quick-fix when losing, I usually picked my medigun at the start of the round based on map/teammates. I think a huge part of the low win rate is that on attack defense and payload maps if you run quick-fix on defense you aren’t going to be able to stop enemy Uber pushes as well as you could have if you ran stock or vaccinator or kill the opposing medic like you can with kritz. And not being able to effectively halt Ubers is going to result in a loss on defense, especially on uncletopia where there are usually a couple medics per team. Ironically I think the win rate would have been higher if I used it more on offense even against sentry nests just because it seems to me that on a lot of maps offense is just favored to win,
@StaminaLoss
@StaminaLoss 9 месяцев назад
@@Theory-Y Honestly yeah, that's how I always used the Quick Fix, like it is really good offensively, but on defense loses when they win a push opportunity and they have all day to do so xmx Always felt like it was really good offensively because you always have uber on hand and is really good for group pushes. Like, the overheal + healing is all you need if you have a team pushing since you can survive the initial damage taken and have the other teammates bail you out with having better opportunities to attack and kill/distract the enemy team. Felt like that's where the power of it is, it's quicker and more consistent to push in with as a team than it does for 2v8 fights. Even sentries weren't that bad as you are still given a lot of time compared to doing so without the uber and lack of pushback, on top of using yourself as a temporary shield. Though, stock is still king there X3 Kinda curious since it always worked well, but ehh. Just curious if old knowledge still applies X3

One thing that should be mentioned about the quick-fix is that afterburn's ability to decrease healing DOES affect the mega heal, so it can just cut your healing heavily if a pyro comes at you and your pocket, it really sucks.

As a person with 600+ hours on medic and recently gathered 5000 kills on the different syringe guns. I play medic to *heal* others (nice to differentiate between giving buffs and healing!), then shoot the bad guys, then uber. Thus I almost permanently run quick-fix. Playing with it makes dying less impactful so I don't feel as bad doing it :) And I'm not a moron "battle medic", that's a stupid term from Big Crossbow to make syringe guns look worse! You make absolutely amazing points. If you are not the only medic in the team, it's really safe to run the quick-fix. You leave the buffing and ubering to the "main" medic and then you can heal guys up (including pocketing the other medic when needed) and screw around doing stupid stuff like flying in with your soldier. It's really great. Switching to stock after a while of quick-fix is a bit disorienting as well. I often find myself getting killed before I have uber and when I do, I pop way too early or in a bad spot. But one thing I overall disagree with your views is that you play perma crossbow. You play at a distance where you can run away. If you switched to a syringe gun (you said you do but I don't think I saw any clips of that) you could get a lot closer to the enemy and finish off some guys your healing target is struggling with. (Also the enemy NEVER sees it coming when you needle them) Getting used to that type of feeding, erm, I mean, strategy takes time though. So you quickly heal your attacking teammate(s) up, then assist in the killing, then heal again. Very generalized explanation but you get it. You can't get enough damage output with a crossbow to help. But also I cannot understate how crisp those arrows you land are, DAMN! Saying it's a medi gun for beginners is also kind of poor as well. At times when your team is clueless but you feel like medic, stock is not going to do anything when your team won't push no matter how invincible they are. Also you can stomp as a medic if you heal a jetpack pyro while they do the hop. That gives you it for that life and you can even switch medi gun. (sticky jump into the sky with your demo and 1 hit snipers)

I find that it's also an excellent Medigun to use as a second medic supporting the main medic using stock. The issues with survivability are mitigated by buffs from the main medic, and your team finds themselves closer to full health or buffed more often. But then again, a pair of coordinating medics is already a massive boon to the team. Also, a little-known fact about the Quick-Fix, it can keep a patient at the normal max overheal if another Medigun buffs them first.

I think an interesting way to balance quick fix would be to give it two way healing, so whenever you heal someone you also get the same healing overheal (maybe at a reduced rate). Thus making the weapon more distinct from other mediguns and solidifying the frontline healer role of the medic

Quick-fix feels like a perfect medigun for a team that has 2 medics, where one medic is a pretty much dedicated pocket medic to a power class, using one of the more versatile mediguns, playing it safer and sticking closer to the back; and the other medic being the front-line medic, topping up all the other players, quickly repositioning across the battlefield via the fast movement options afforded to him by the classes he's healing.

I remember one game I had recently. It was on Mountain Lab defence. We had been pushed to our last point. I was playing engi and I had the upstairs locked down with teleporter access and a sentry gun in the rafters looking over the point. A Blu soldier medic combo popped a Quick Fix uber walked onto the point from downstairs hallway and won the game because our 2 pyros couldn't airblast them and my sentry couldn't dps them because it ate Direct Hit rockets. I remember being thoroughly impressed. If it was any other medigun it would have been shut down, but because Quick Fix denies mobility hinders *and* it can cap while ubered, they won the game. That said, I know this is kind of niche but I want to point it out that Quick Fix has a really strong clutch factor when there is a quickly capturable last point or payload that is guarded. You can just walk on it with a pocket and win.

My idea in how Quick-Fix Medic is probably meant to be played is by probably weaving in and out of fights, which means that it's supposed to get behind enemy choke points with a few classes, then quickly mow down the opponents and end the fight quickly before the opponent outdamages the Quick Fix. If you can't kill everybody, cut your losses and run out of there as fast as you can.
@Bread-kun

To me quick fix has alwyas felt great for a second medic on a team. If youre just solo the uber or kritz just gives such an insane benefit thats hard to ignore. But if you already have a medic who's capable of making those power plays (and generally will prioritize pocketing a power class), having a second guy who can keep an entire team up rapidly feels just generally really nice. Also it just feels better to use when youre playing from a losing position where you straight up just can not survice long enough to reliably get a single uber. Also rolling out with a soldier is just very fun too.

What if Quick-Fix also gave Medic the Amputator's Taunt-Heal Aura while Ubering? Would that be good enough to make it better?
@idiotsamich1737
@idiotsamich1737 9 месяцев назад
Maybe, but probably not. A big part of the reason the other mediguns winrates are so much higher in his statistics is because only one or two good players are necessary to utterly annihilate the enemy team. One good invincible player is worth like mediocre ones being pocketed. The quickfix you propose would be a lot more reliant on having a competent and coordinated team, if you had one of those with any other medigun, you would've won anyways. It would better cement it as 'the teamfight' medigun, but it certainly wouldn't make it all that much better. If this proposed heal aura could overheal, then that might be something. It would partially negate this medigun's most crippling downside by giving the entire team pushing with you a small but continuously regenerating overheal. If your team pushes with you that could make a push seriously rivaling stock, considering you wouldn't have to use precious uber time flashing to have your team stay alive alongside your pocket Also: quickfix uber should be able to cap change my mind

Besides being thematic, it's perfectly in line with the more proactive play style the weapon seemingly encourages, and helps you defend yourself a little better, aiding in the intent of the Quick-Fix being better for games where you're being poorly protected

I have always encouraged (and practiced myself) that the Quick Fix is a SECONDARY medic's best weapon. If 1 medic is already running Kritz / Uber and prioritizes the big pushers, then you should use the Quick Fix to keep THOSE medics alive, and everyone else at *least* at full health. This is the best performance for me, and of course, if you're the sole medic in your team, this is not the medigun to use.

If I am the only medic in my team I will use quickfix out of spite for everyone who refuses to take a second medic, if there's another medic I will use stock because quickfix's faster healing is not as relevant when there's several medics and overheal is too strong. And I will only ever use quickfix uber when multiple people are low on health to quickly fix them ever faster, anyone who thinks they got it to charge in and die is not my problem.

I’ve got to tell you, the Quick-Fix, is one of my favorite items in all of TF2. While the stock medigun may be better in competitive, kritz might be the best in MvM, and vacc may be the best in terms of shutting down the enemy, there’s nothing like seeing those health numbers go up and up quickly. A stock Über, while better than quickfix’s, just doesn’t have as much oomph. Constant invulnerability means there’s no reason to be cautious, which is why people don’t like quickfix’s uber- there’s no risk. While you’re more than likely going to survive being ubered with a quickfix, it teaches the medic to be much more cautious- not to mention something about having an absurd amount of overhead just seems more impactful than straight up invulnerability.

I think the quick fix also shines with teams that have very little coordination, it's a lot more forgiving due to it's cheap über and having to heal a large group in the middle of a chaotic fight, and since you wont get overheals while being in teamfight anyway, being able to quickly bring everyone back up and most likely even throw out an über that's shared among the team is also a nice way to just keep the momentum going (again for unorganized teams, if everyone knows what they're doing then stock or kritz are the better options). And that goes even more so for when you're the second medic, since it allows for the other medic who runs stock to hang back a bit and build the über that we're actually gonna use for the push/counter, while I'm just making sure that we have enough sustain to stay in the fight for long enough (also for uncoordinated teams, otherwise running kritz is better imo). And no I will not use the Vaccinator under any circumstances, I hate that thing both to play with as well as to play against.

I use quickfix mainly because it seems to be the only one i can ever get uber with. And its uber is great for pushing sentries since you both get zero knockback so it doesn't get stuffed by knockback or a pyro blasting you or your target away. It does require more coordination to work reliably and the medigun itself forces you into danger but it's hell of a lot more fun than just sitting back healing just to get killed at 87% Though i do use it with the Amputator so i can maximise the healing i can output for each possible scenario.

Ngl, Quick-fix is my go-to everytime unless I'm on attack and have a big defense to break. I play medic because I love being the one who saves others on the correct moment, because I can't aim, and because I LOVE seeing healthbars going up. The copying movements is also great, and has allowed me many times to do save-game plays; especially after I respawn. It simply allows you to get faster into position, and even if the overheal is weaker and there is no inmortality, the faster healrate makes up for it most of the time. Maybe it is perfect to me because I'm a full casual player, but if I had to choose I would always take Quick-fix. Great video, man. I have now learned more indepth the problems of my favorite weapon!

I love the quick fix, personally my favorite medigun. The downside of it being more dangerous makes it significantly more fun to me, encouraging a more active playstyle and more constant movement, as opposed to the more positional defensive playstyle the other mediguns feel to me. Definitely a “second medic” weapon I feel, helping top off everyone and let the primary medic pocket and fully buff select players

The data collection was impressive, great video I feel like the "omg quickfix is OP" comes from lesser experienced/informed players. The ones who don't use or understand crit heals would think that it saves so much time and those who don't understand the raw power of stock/kritz buffs will ignore that weakness.

I am one of the few Medic players that almost exclusively uses the Quick-Fix, and it's just because I like seeing a ton of healing done on my scoreboard. Maybe that makes me weird, but I just get more satisfaction out of seeing a player get fully healed than I do helping that player blow someone up. I think the Quick-Fix is better for quick-thinking players that can multitask, the faster you can rotate through damaged players, the more lives you will save and by extension more games you will win.

The Quick-Fix is the BEST option for a 2nd Medic; while your other Medic is in the middle of a fight, the Quick-Fix Medic is stopping players from running back to spawn to they can stay close to the fight, waiting for teammates to come. Like you said, it doesn't PUSH points, it HOLDS positions. Protect your fellow medics, ESPECIALLY if they've popped their Kritz (though, this is true for all medi-guns). I've grown attached to using the Overdose as my "I'm not gonna follow you into this 5v2 fight when I have 90% Uber, so I'm gonna run away and live" option.

I had one of those “if I didn’t use quick fix we would’ve lost” times. Me and my friend like to exist behind the enemy team as a scout and medic duo and in those situations where you can't spread heals the boosted build rate and knockback immunity helps with not getting pinned down in one spot. The building rate is a bug though so if valve strikes that down from the heavens then it kinda looses that niche as a great pocket medigun

There's one very specific value to the Quick Fix that I find is rarely, if ever talked about in these sorts of videos. The Quick-Fix's Uber effects last beyond its duration. Imagine you're a medic on 20 HP and you pop QF vs Uber, then take some damage (75) near the end of the Uber but not at the end in both cases, then some more damage (50) when both Ubers end- a relatively common occurence, though not necessarily with those exact values. QF: 20 -> 188 -> 113 -> (heal back) 188 -> 138 Stock: 20 -> 40 (natural regen) -> 40 -> 48 (natural regen) -> dead

As someone who doesn’t play the game, it sounds like the Quick-fix is the best gun only when you’re on a team where team members do not have the skill level to use the Uber charge abilities in an optimal way, and/or when the team member is likely to die before a more rapidly uber-charging gun is able to give them that Uber ability. And the people who have said that the Quick Fix is mostly used for certain games say that they use it “when they have bad team members”, That sounds to me like a team where most of the guys die before they effectively use the Uber. So you have pointed out good reasons why most of the other healing guns are more optimal, because that Uber ability is very useful. Though also, the people who have commented about how they use the Quick Fix are valid for their use-case scenario for it. Two different ideas, but both compatible to the respective players.

76% winrate is absolutely insane. But the fact stock has 86% is even more insane - it almost feels like not using stock all the time is lowering the winrate, as rarely do other mediguns have an obvious advantage over it. Either way, even the idea of tracking winrates would be absurd for many other classes. There is only so much a single player can do. Unless they play medic, I guess.
@mitchellsidebottom9271
@mitchellsidebottom9271 9 месяцев назад
You pretty much hit every nail on the head. My take has always been that the Quick-Fix is the worst medigun when you factor in the Medic playing at their peak skill level. Factoring in skill, Vacc is arguably the best, followed closely by or matching stock, then Kritz, and finally Quick-Fix lags behind; this is, of course assuming the Crusader's Crossbow is also being utilized (effectively) as a healing tool. That said, all the Mediguns are so damn good that calling the Quick Fix the worst medigun doesn't even make it bad or non-viable; in fact I've found the Quick-Fix dramatically scales up the smaller the teams are. If you're the only Medic on a 12 player team, it's best to roll stock and just overheal everyone when they're not in combat. On a balanced team with another Medic running another healing gun, the Quick-Fix has some merit as a rescue tool on the front line. You heal faster and it's not as devastating if you lose Uber due to getting killed early; in fact it's kind of fun to play a frontline Medic with Quick-Fix, Overdose, and Amputator, keeping your uber meter up as an escape tool due to the Overdose speed boost. Is it optimal? Eh, not really, but you're still doing your job of keeping health bars up. But ultimately, as you said people sleep on Overheal. I will die on the hill that Overheal is the strongest mechanic in the game; with max overheal you save every class from burst damage like a quickscope to the head or charged bodyshot, as well as saving the heavier classes from some crit-boosted attacks; in fact there's so many situations your teammates can survive due to overheal that would have killed them even if your Quick-Fix beam is on them. For players new to the game or to Medic, by all means use the Quick-Fix if you want to just play reactive and heal people who are taking damage. It's far, far better than having less Medics on a large team, but if you can land Crossbow heals, I highly recommend Stock or getting good with the Vaxxer. You'll really feel the difference being able to trigger pushes by Ubering people.

Honestly, quick-fix makes a huge difference when you can put people above the point where the next hit would have killed them. The QF SHINES when your whole team is hovering around 25% health, and the heal rate is what stops everyone from dying to the next bodyshot or rocket. It doesn't benefit from a "stats" analysis when the impact of it is primarily seen in the match...

The quick-fix has two main purposes: keeping your whole team alive, and keeping up with your demoman/soldier pocket. I have had only a couple of matches where we were able to rocket jump into a sentry nest, pop an uber, and take down the whole thing where a standard Uber wouldn't due to choke points. It has been less than three, but they do exist. However, the real niche role is that the quick-fix pairs well with a battle medic. The quick-fix lets the medic drop the medigum to throw out a couple of needles or a melee swing, switch back and top up your partner. The benefit is that the extra damage can drop a target before he can damage you or your pocket too much. The quick-fix makes prevention of damage the best medicine. It is still far from the best medigun, but help me if it isn't a fun and satisfying way to play!

I love the Quick-Fix. Stock is definitely go-to if I’m the only medic, but the moment another appears I switch. There’s something so fun about being the frontline healer during the fast-paced skirmishes while the stock medic hangs back to build Uber safely. Then he rushes forward to pop and I fall back to rejuvenate the backline and inevitably save the few soldiers who stayed too deep after the push ended. There’s just nothing else like it. I love the Quick-Fix.

It's my go-to medigun when i'm the only medic on the team and other mediguns just don't heal fast enough, while multiple teammates at a time call for medic non-stop, so overheal doesn't come into play much, because i can barely keep everyone at 100% health.

I feel the quick fix isnt meant for direct combat work, it has a lower over heal and higher heal rate because its meant to get people back to the frontline, keep people fighting rather than giving people a boost its so less people are sitting around healing and more people holding the front and keeping the line loaded with players, it keeps players out of idle near a dispenser or waiting for the medic finish healing the heavy
@Grampssssss
@Grampssssss 9 месяцев назад
I would argue that in a casual environment versus a competitive environment, the quick fix enables a very versatile niche, that being replenishing the greater team health pool at a much quicker rate. The problem is using the quick fix as a push type weapon the same way that stock is when in reality it’s a supplemental weapon to be used liberally, keeping not only a pocket in the fight but the entire team without the need to retreat to a health pack. That said, the quick fix easily becomes one of if not the most impactful mediguns in combination with a stock or kritz, because what’s more impactful than one pocket with invulnerability? A pocket with invulnerability and a constantly supplied team right behind him

Fully agreed that the Quick-Fix is the overall weakest medigun. Not useless or unusable, but definitely the weakest. One other aspect I don't see many people talking about is how the existence of the crossbow is indirectly a nerf to the Quick-Fix. Faster healing on a medigun just isn't as impactful when you already have a busted primairy weapon to help with that. It's kinda the same with the Amputator, I think that weapon would also see a lot more use if the Crossbow didn't exist.
