This video is my favorite. What is truly amazing is seeing the growth from your earlier videos prior to CRNA school and then now. It really shows the level of expertise you gain from a CRNA program
Do you utilize push-dose precedex regularly? How much mcg per push as a pre-op anxiolytic? Are you concerned with speed of administration (vs other anxiolytics where we just push)? Very curious how it looks in actual practice
What’s up dude! Yes I use precedex regularly at this clinical site. For pre op- usually 10 mcg for most adults. For older people, possibly 10 but sometimes 5. Most people shoot for a total dose of 0.5 mcg/kg divided into several push doses depending on how long the case is. I’ve used a drip in some spine cases. But most people push 4-10 mcg at a time. You will def get some transient htn if you push fast. For the Brady, you can give 0.2-4 of glyco or give some ephedrine to counter the hotn and brady. Most healthy people can tolerate the precedex though. There are multiple ways to go about it!
@@DavidWarrenNP Nice!! Thanks for the info. That's something I never learned in the ICU or even classes. Can't wait to start clinicals and be where you're at!
I’m in the SICU now. Did you get your ccrn? How did you pay for grad school lol? 🥹 baby nurse here. I’ve always wanted to become a CRNA. thanks for sharing 🤍
