Join Doctor Jones in learning about Chamomile, this gentle
flower’s actions promote calming and decreasing inflammation.
It's most popular as an herbal tea, and is great at helping with tension, insomnia and more!
Chamomile is calming to both the nervous system as well as the digestive system. Indeed, one of its primary uses is in soothing the digestive tract, especially when stress is contributing to the upset

I find if I tell them they're pretty, they'll forgive me for lopping off their heads and grow new ones so I'll tell them their pretty again. Chamomile is pretty obsessed with being cute. :0) Doc homegrownherbalist.net/

Hello Dr. Jones, thank you for this wonderful video. This is my first time watching your channel and was pleasantly surprised of the amount of info I learned in 4 mins. I have been dealing with nerve pain in my back and feet for a few months now and my doctor has prescribed gabapentin, which I took for three weeks and then stopped cause it made me very drowsy. Would Chamomile help with the nerve pain in my legs and feet. I also have both Roman and German Chamomile essential oils, would you kindly let me know how many drops I need to use to soothe the nerve pain. Thank you in advance.

Hi Tiggy. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Chamomile tincture often works very well for pain when applied topically. I usually mix it with some skullcap and valerian too. (homegrownherbalist.net/product/rest-easy-tincture/) Shoot me an email and I'll send you some links to some other things things that can help. :0) info(at)homegrownherbalist.net Watch this video too. Teasel can be great for that sort of thing in some cases. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ht_5r967LGk.html Doc Jones homegrownherbalist.net/about-the-school/

When I drink chamomile I get a warm fuzzy feeling and a sense of well-being/calmness. I also feel like I get sort of a mild body high for lack of better terms. I put 10 table spoons of loose leaf herb in boiling water for 5 minutes. It doesn't seem like placebo because it happens every time. I also sleep really well after drinking chamomile. Your thoughts?

Hi Zachery, Nothing placebo about it. Chamomile contains multiple chemicals that have a soothing and calming effect on nerves. Great stuff. :0) Doc Jones HomeGrownHerbalist.net

So if I wanted to use chamomile for my kidneys how many times a day would I take it? I've been dealing with kidney problems for awhile & the doctors always skim over my labs when they come to my kidneys.

I'm out of chamomile & it's driving me nuts. I'm need to get my hands on more! I just found a sprig growing wild near my woodshed. My plant identifier calls it "stinking chamomile"?!?

I have read that the leaves also possess several medicinal properties, is this true (you know how the internet is...!)? Even if a bit weaker medicinally, it just seems more practical/useful being able to use more than just the flowers of any plant whenever possible. Perhaps just a stronger tincture (less alcohol than when tincturing just the flowers)? Or mixing the leaves and flowers? Your thoughts?

How would I prepare an elderleaf tincture to be safe?

I've used it for decades with thousands of people with nary a bellyache. I don't use the leaf on little kids. My tincture is 100 g dry leaf to 500 ml vodka. 20-30 drops a few times a day for adults. For little people I use the berry. For toddlers, I use the flower. Doc homegrownherbalist.net/pages/our-online-herb-school

I drink camomille tea from time to time - also due to the health benefits... I’ve noticed it was recommended somewhere to not pour boiling water over the camomille tea; apparantly the water should be 80 degree celcius before poured on the camomille; Question: does it matter? Does the very hot water impede/kill some of the elements that create all the benefits?
@HomeGrownHerbalist
@HomeGrownHerbalist 4 года назад
excessive heat can be detrimental to medicine. I almost never boil herbs but do do teas by taking the water off the stove and putting the herbs in it. Mint family herbs and herbs high in mucilage (ie marshmallow comfrey etc..) actually do better with cold infusion. Just soak in room temperature water over night. It depends on what chemical you're after. The calming, sleepy stuff in chamomile is pretty heat-stable but the anti-inflammatory stuff isn't. When in doubt, just throw the ground powder in a little juice and drink it or make a tincture.
