Once again, MAFEX shows why they're the best in the game right now at making action figures. This is thee Gambit figure I had in my brain since I was a kid buying the very 1st ToyBiz Gambit figure and being disappointed .
Their customer service and QC is pretty bad though. Bought several figures from them in the past and they all came with paint chips and flaws. Emailed them and they blew me off and told me I'm SOL. Had issues with other companies like Figma, and they replaced the defective part no questions asked and I didn't have to pay for shipping. MAFEX is overrated and I will never buy another figure from them again. Of course your experience and opinion will vary. This is my experience.
@@RepublicCommando140 yea marvel legends are built like tanks. I have tons of them as well and not one has been broken. Although sometimes I get the occasional poor paint. But it's a $20 figure not $100...
@@dennischen8887 They have become better and better over time, non of my MAFEX had any qc, but let me tell u, you are missing the definitive versions of this character over a bad experience
@@seventrue871 My experiences all happened recently with them. It's mainly their customer support practice and attitude that turned me off while other companies replaced defective parts no questions asked, and some even sent me a brand new figure for only a broken neck joint (Articulated Icons). I'm really happy with my Mezco Gambit and 2 ML Gambits, so I can do without this one to save the potential hassle or any QC issues..
I’ve had this in hand for a few days, and I already think this is the best Mafex figure to date. The coat is BY FAR the best soft goods item that Mafex has made
His coat is the only disappointing thing for me. I personally think their Peter B. Parker's coat and sweatpants are their best soft goods. And along with Peter, this Gambit and their Dark Knight Returns Triumphant, some of their best figures ever and some of the best figures overall of 2021. In terms of facial features, body proportions and accessories, this figure is definitely superior to the Marvel Legends, Revoltech and Mezco, as the best 1/12 Gambit ever.
@@aaroneaston8899 I have had my Mafex Gambit 2 weeks now and take it back. You have to get it in hand to appreciate it. The coat is actually very good. Not only the best Mafex figure ever, but the best 1/12 scale figure of 2021.
Yeahhhh, you know what's crazy. We got a smiling mafex Homelander face first before a smiling mafex Superman one. That's pretty ridiculous lol. Hopefully the Mezco one will be as awesome as the promo pics since it has a smiling face.
Gambit holds a very special place in my life, so watching this was AMAZING, you do him justice and for that I thank you, I'm hoping this guy arrives in time for my bday, last yr was the mezco gambit this yr mafex (fingers crossed), very dope review and again thank you
As always, the photography at the end is amazing. Really shows what this figure can do and the work you put in setting up those shots really comes through. Thanks for the great review. This is a definite must-buy for me after seeing it in action. Gotta have that Gambit on the X-men shelf!
Jim Lee designed Gambits costume- he’s the co creator with Claremont 🙂. The hair does seems to be leaning more towards the Andy Kubert run that followed right after. Good stuff!
I've yet to get a Mafex figure, but I love how they do highly comic specific looks. The X-Men Jim Lee, Batman Jim Lee. The Carnage and Venom figures and accessories are straight out of particular McFarlene panels. My dream would be Mafex Giant Size X-Men Colossus, Storm, but I would pay big bucks for a NIghtcrawler
Now Mafex have shown they're doing classic designs with the introduction of their Iron Man figure, a Romita Sr. Doctor Doom figure done with a wired soft cloth green hooded cloak would make my head explode.
@@cookedit I just pre-ordered that Iron Man today after some contemplation. I would be in for a Doctor Doom. A Silver Surfer would melt my mind, lol. A classic Captain America would also be welcome.
While you're not wrong that such coats have a belt, Remy was always depicted without one - I guess (ignoring the coat all together) it could tangle up when he does his stuff. Since they already anounced Jean Grey I would really be astonished if they gave us her but not Rogue.
Yeah, it's a nice addition. I'm less fussed about the massive effects due to the weight and as they're pretty much the same - think I'd have preferred more smaller card options, but it's a small gripe
Checking out your older reviews, as I am considering upgrading my ML Gambit. Trying to decide between the Mafex vs Mezco. I often buy both, but in this case, I want to just pick up one from the after market. Any thoughts you have is appreciated. I am going to put him in a display fighting Brotherhood of Mutants.
Mafex the best especially the figure they are gonna release next month. Ofc they are without their Qc but they have improve tremendously. Magneto was awesome and so as gambit
Coat looks like it is imitating a Cashmere material, not a water repeling Trench coat or even a leather one. A different choice in material would have went a long way. The figure under the coat is great though not enough for me to buy it.
Yo D can you tell me what your army building formula is? I know there's a price point involved but what is a good number per character without being excessive or even being excessive cuz that's what us collectors are anyway.
Love the review, anyone know any reputable places to buy this from BBTS seems to be sold out, is this an item that may restock a later date or just submit to scalpers on ebay and roll the dice? any reputable ebay sellers would be greatly appreciated.
Which figure is better; Mezco Gambit or Mafex? How's the joint feel like, a bit loose or just nice? My DC Justice Leagues mafex's joint, a bit disappointing. That's why I'm kinda worried about Mafex figures.
I have a few mafex figures for the most part they are pretty smooth joint wise. I do own the mezco gambit and it’s amazing I feel like the joints on mezco gambit are bit more sturdier just a tad bit. This mafex one looks awesome but I’ll stay with my mezco one!
@@Dreyz-pg2zz Qc and constant delays is all that keeps Mafex from being near the top. They know exactly what iconic character designs the public wants. It's just for every Gambit and Batman Triumphant (both almost perfection) we also get a Blue Batman Hush and tiger stripe Wolverine (both with little qc issues that are inexcusable at their price).
I don’t know where else to say this. I am broken inside. I had my gambit in my pile of loot on BBTS. They told me due to a computer glitch my copy was unavailable. They thought they had more stock than they did. There’s nothing they can do.
That's heart breaking. Mine took over 2 months to ship, but I finally got it 2 weeks ago. Do not fret, Mafex usually do reissues. You may just have to wait a bit.
