Always have enjoyed your videos and I keep coming back to review these 'older' ones too. My favorite building spot so far is the first location that you talk showcased. I love having the trees incorporated into my village. It makes for a beautiful setting. I've been away from the game for a few months and I'm eager see how all the updates will play out. I think the flat open area where the bridges meet near the 2 most north west villages (forget their names) is the best place. Tons of room for a massive village, you could even expand on either side of those bridges. There's the northern mine fairly close and 3 villages within a quick walk for selling stuff. Not to mention a massive amount of room for crops. It's almost too good of a spot, I actually was using it but I started over and am challenging myself to build up around the triple waterfalls.

West of the river is Rolnica and east of the river is Tutki. I currently have a farming village in the same location in my season 5 playthrough. I think my favorite location is still my season 1 location south side of the second bridge west of Gustovia. Nice challenge location near the waterfalls. Good choice

I've been building my village just west of your Season 1 location, just after the roads split and along the creek. It's a pretty decent location: lots of room for farming, I incorporated the roads into my village and that helped with layout, there's a deer spawn spot just west of the boars you mentioned, foxes in the same area, and if you go just over the hill to the south, you get wolves and wisents. It's pretty central to Denica, Rolnica and Tutki, Baranica and Branica, Gostovia and Rolnica, and a reasonable day trip to the others. The only downside is that it *is* a PITA to haul trees. I don't really care for the look of cut-down trees (I know they regrow after a couple years if you leave the stumps, but it spoils the aesthetic in the meantime), plus I had to walk further and further to get logs to build my initial storage buildings, so it makes the early game more challenging. So, I *really* like your Season 1 location and I think I'll give that a try. I like the idea of building among the trees, and it's close enough to the open area to the west that one could expand a big farming empire all the way to the creek.

I just started playing MD and your season 1 area is the spot I picked also. I am on year 6 with a 5 day season. It is a great area, with the open area for farming and the wooded area for the village. +1 epic spot. At this point in the game money is not a problem, my biggest concern at this point is so many out of the work force mothers. lol

Very nice. the mass of babies is always an issue. just have to figure out where you are needed in the village and mass-produce stuff, tools, meals, etc. Until the mothers come back to work when their babies are 2 yrs old.

The second spot you picked is where I have a 100 hours of safe as for right now. It has plenty of space and in general is a great place to be when it comes to resources. Cave nearby, river for water and straw, stone and many many trees, villages closeby. The only problem I have with it is the elevation of the north-west part and just in general, it is a boring looking place. I am in the planning of moving my entire village from there to a more challenging spot. Anyway, for beginners it is the very best spot imo. Give it a try! Edit: Hectic, what a nice detailed tutorial btw, You surely helped alot of newcomers of the valley!

Small heads up for your 3th location, there are reed locations within small creeks to the south-west from where you are standing. they contain a fair amount of reed to get you started until you have your fields working.

i actually moved my whole village to that area where there is only few tree and flat, my first was where you moved your village but i was really lazy to keep removing trees all time, so i just ordered the villagers to only focus on stones and wood all time to build a new one as quick as possible there where i can just relax xD

I chose a different area for my village. To the west of your village is an island in the lake. South of that island there is a stream. My houses and craft buildings are to the west of the stream with fields and animal pens to the east. There is a lot of trees in the area and plenty of flat ground. There are a few obstructions to the east of the stream but they are work aroundable. You are very close to Denica and not too far from Gostovia, Borowo, Branica and Barnica only a little further from the western villages. Jesrica and Hornica are a bit of a trek but I put storage between them so it's not too bad.

I picked the "cave village" location, really enjoying it(having access to rock deposits is a huge plus early game that I had never really considered before(over collecting stone off the ground), one thing I would point out, from your review though, is that slightly upstream from the village there is a small pond (so south and west) that has a nice little stock of reeds, so literally maybe 150m from the camp. Another spot that looks like it would be a really nice first time location is there is a really nice open area north of cave village to the south and east of that large waterfall, not an area before this save that I'd really spent alot of time in, always previously been dawn more to the middle/western side of the map

Very nice. I've never really thought about mining stone, but I am old school. When the game first came out on early access last Sept we had to get iron to even make a pickaxe or buy one from Jan in Hornica (I did the latter) for about 900 coins. So it is ingrained in me to just gather stone from the ground. There were no stone pickaxes in the game then. Thank you for sharing.

they bears can respawn on the 2ndary starting mine. but the only spawn up above it, and unless your villager has his house up there, they dont slap them.

My first location is the location I always use. North of Denica. Halfway between Denica and the two (crossroads) bridges. I initially wanted the large flat green area east (northeast?) of the starting point, but that is beyond the map's boundaries. The area halfway between Branica and the crossroads (bridges) is probably just as good, I've just never started there.

Thank you for watching and the tip on the music. However, when I play it back through youtube the music is very low ( I typically set my music to be 30% of my voice during editing for all my videos). I have to turn my youtube volume up to hear it. I will keep an eye on it though when editing. Let me know if it is like that on all of my recent videos or just this one. Thanks again.

great vid. thanks for sharing. qq: has anyone else had issues saving the game? mine will allow me to save but when i go to upload that saved file, it won't let me and gets stuck on the "finalization" part... :-(

Thanks for watching. I personally have not had any issues with the save files, but you might want to head over to the MD steam community page or the Toplitz discord to share your problem. You're more likely to get a solution quicker.

The tree saplings grow into trees with the seasons also, creating a never ending supply, as long as you don't harvest them for sticks. You can harvest the ones you don't want to grow to create specific trees in your village. The trees you let grow will create saplings of that tree. It is good to leave at least one tree alone. You can create beautiful landscapes in combination with orchard trees.

@@HecticNasari , I was 6 years in-game. I left a few Birch tree saplings alone because the earlier version didn't have full grown ones at the game start. After a year in-game, I noticed that there were Birch trees where there weren't any.

When I go to build mode to build my first home it doesn’t allow me to select the mode.. it just goes to the build screen and I hover over the hammer symbol on the left and it doesn’t allow me to select anything. Can anyone help?

Sounds like you are clicking the right mouse button. This will open the Hammer option wheel where you can select to build or destroy objects among other options. To open the build menu to select a building you want to have the hammer equipped and click "Q" on the keyboard. This will allow you to begin selecting the different available buildings. Why you call Rajmond's place, the unstuck location? It's a place with no name on the map. The unstuck location is above Gostovia

OMG, I did call Rajmond's place the Unstuck Location, I did not realize I had done that. I meant to call Rajmund's Place the Un-named Village. Also, the Unstuck is not a location anymore, they changed how the Unstuck option works and it no longer teleports you to the Starting Location. Thank you for pointing this out to me.

Does the village have to be together can homes, building be spread out the map?

you can build where ever and however you like. the only building that needs to be near it's production is the mine and the barn
