In this Medieval Dynasty How to Make Villagers Work (Xbox) video, I explain how you assign jobs to a villager and how to give them what they need to complete the work required. The latter varies depending on where they are assigned.
To make villagers work, they need to have a home and ideally food and water to keep them sustained. Then you can assign them to a work location and task. Some tasks require tools to be made available so they can complete the work. For example, a hunter needs a knife to hunt.

Hi Grub - I'm a mature, casual gamer, just started MD, and I really want to like it. However, I'm a bit slow, and it's not easy to understand how to begin and get going, which is why I'm so glad to have found your tutorials! Not only are you English and easy to understand, but you don't forget the details which most other geezers seem to forget to mention. Hey. Thanks for the kind thoughts. I try my best. I make tutorials all the time, but I play many games. I haven't played MD in a while. Currently I'm on GTA Online, which is one giant can of worms!

On one hand I can appreciate the nuances.. on the other I dont want to wipe thier bums... I need a bucket.. did you look in the shed with the buckets? Here is a bucket.. I suppose you want me to fill it?! Yes.. yes.. I want you to fill it!! If I wanted it to be this realistic, i would go to work.

One less step I was told if you have everything they need in the Resource building or Food Storage. They will pull from those items and don't have to put them at their work station. Unless you just trying to save space from not having the tools there. Food I believe must stay in the Food storage so they can draw from it. Question, Do you have to provide warm clothing for the winter or do they some how already have it in their inventory?

Thanks for adding. It may have changed but when I first tried tools in resource building they weren’t using them. I don’t think clothing matters for the villagers.

@@GrubMagnet Now they do use the tools stored in the resource building. It makes things easier since you can provide all the tools to one simple location.

Make sure they have the tools needed. Hunting knife in the hunting lodge. Axe in the wood shed.

Okay, I had a farmer there and he didn’t do anything after plowing the field. Maybe I need to have him in a separate house from my own? I had everything he needed from seeds to fertiliser and bags in the workplace he was assigned to.

Might be the time of year. I think they can only seed at certain seasons.

Man i have calculated my stones production and it is more than the stones are daily used to carf things,and still at middle of the day my stones runs out and my workers stop working because of it.Can anyone tell me how to solve it?

I believe you can do either, but my new players will have built the lodge and a few houses and no space for storage initially. Hence I showed in the lodge.

Try logging out and back in again. Also you could try sleeping a day. Sometimes they won't work until the next day even if you replace the tools.

I've not played this in a long while. I think you need the villagr to be assigned as a lumberjack. If you've done that, it may be a bug. Try the game's support.

Hi! I have done all this and my workers were producing perfectly, I keep stocking up on knives, buckets, axes etc in the correct places but suddenly nobody is producing anything. Can you help me? 😬

Not sure. Sounds like a core item has run out? Likely maybe the worker getting wood has no axe or something?

I have a feeling it's something to do with demand but I don't fully understand it as it says demand 0 but they are always complaining they need food/firewood. Thank you though, not often I get helpful responses on here so I appreciate it muchly :)

You're welcome. Sometimes I think the game mechanics break but I don't know why. You could try the developer. Not sure how helpful they are as I've never contacted them.

I did all that already yet the water won’t transfer to storage, like they work but nothing happens I have to do everything even tho it says working but they don’t support themselves. Had a villager on the woodshed and it said he was working for like 3 days but the villagers didn’t get any firewood, I have all the buildings but it seems like they don’t produce any thing even if it says they do

Hmm. Have you made sure they have the right gear? Like buckets for the well, axe for the woodshed? I haven't played in so long, but that's what I recall.

My villagers seem as if they are working, but for example my lumberjack saws wood but does not produce anything, idk what % i should have him do for planks

It can take a while. Make sure they have the tools they need and that the ratios of what you want them to make is set. To make planks they will need a wood supply ready. I haven't played in a while, but I think you may be able to put the wood in storage to help.

I haven't played in so long. I think it's buckets in the well storage and they'll get water as needed. Bag might work in the storage of the area for seeds. I can't remember what that building is called.

I got it. Just needed to put a bag in the chest i his house. And a bucket with water. Love your video's btw. Helped me so much. It makes the game a lot more fun 👍
