I have around 8 sets of FunWhole brand tons of Legos a few Mould King and some other like Cobi and Nifeliz. Hands down FunWhole is top in all categories. Lego comes in second with Mould King a close third. Any sets including Lego u need some common sense when building and stabilizing. Anyone interested in this brand don't even think twice. Buy it. Especially at half the price of Lego.
If I was still building Lego pirate sets I would get this. As a kid growing up, I never knew Lego would hold its value like it does. I would just get the sets that I wanted and MOC them. 20 years later, I still have those MOCed sets and they hold incredible value to me, I cannot really sell them nor would I want to. That is what this set is to me in my mind. I do feel like 10 20 years from now these sets will be very valuable. This set may be more niche, but that also makes it more collectable. I picked up 2 Lego skull eyed schooners and original Barracuda Pirate ships for around $150 dollars each in 2007. Now the are worth maybe close to $1000each and would be several $1000's if they were still in box. So you never know for sure, but good looking sets are always a good buy.
Ironically pricing aside, the vast detail (and it does look amazing) is what puts me off from considering this atm. Having limited space to put out LEGO, this isn't really going to fit in on a "street" with other LEGO modulars. It would look amazing in among more medieval/waterside builds though. To anyone looking into getting alternate-brand bricksets, my recommendation is shop around. Cause Funwhole prices seem to be *all over the place* right now. This set can run you anywhere from $120€ up to over $300€ listprice.
Johanna I really like your open and honest reviews. Keep up the awesome videos. I would love to see a video on how you string all the sets together and get power to the light kits. If you can make one of those, that would really help others out that want to light up a city. Lighting one building is great and all, but putting that all together in a city build is completely different.
I live in the US and picked it up for 95 with the Amazon coupon. I have Amazon Prime so, there was no shipping cost. I feel like FO (The name of the company is terrible lol) typically comes in a lot cheaper than Lego. Great video, I really enjoyed it! P.S. I 100% agree that they need someone proofreading for them. You can tell they probably use an online translator.
Thanks for the review. It is good to see these alternative brands trying something new. Even with the issues noted, it seems FW is trying to put out a quality kit. I like that they include the light kit. Looking forward to their future releases.
THANKS!!!!! Love seeing honest reviews! I like the concept of this , but the execution is a bit off for me. Doesn't look as refined as I would like. Also, as a Lego alternative, it would be nice to see how it looks next to other Lego buildings. That would definitely help me decide better if it's worth purchasing. Keep the amazing content coming! :)
I think it sucks on lots of levels. It's bland and the minifigs are rubbish. It's a weird hybrid of styles and eras. The price is way too steep for what's being offered.
The set does look good even with the issues you mentioned. I guess this is a brand you will have to look out for in the future, they still have lots to learn. And you can see they already did with the base. I love that this is a original design. Great review!
So when you were talking about the pigment of the white brick the color temperature of your camera changed, was that planned out or just a crazy coincidence? I laughed pretty hard! good video, I think I want this thing, better than shelling out over $300 for the Pirates a barracuda bay…
Hi Johanna, nice review! Thanks 😀 Question: if you do not want to install the light kit, does it come with pieces that you can use instead so you do not have all the wires going through the build? Thank you and hope everyone has a great weekend 😁 Also, hihi, a wild Ben appeared. Hi Ben! and hi to Olly too 😁
I love this set, but don’t care for cream (I don’t know what color for sure to call it) colored pieces. The color just seems out of place for Medieval. I think a tan would have looked better. Over all I like the set 😊. You did a great job reviewing it 😊
They should keep the no minifigure policy to lower the costs. This brand seems more for lego enthusiasts more than the general public therefore they probably already have minifigures
I actually liked the minifigures, something that never happened with other brands (other than Lego of course). Not sure what it is but there's something about these minifigures that makes them interesting to me. I'd love to see more of them in the future, especially regular city characters.
They should have sent you this before production so that they could take your feedback on board. Some things would have been relatively easy to fix. Thanks for the review. For now, for sure sticking with Lego, but I hope some companies will keep improving to keep Lego on their toes in terms of designs and pricing.
Thanks for the honest and open review! I must say the value in the light set makes it not as expensive as Lego in my opinion. It is not as cheap as the cheap brands, but certainly feels more affordable. Only nit-pick on the video I have. Bye bye
Salutations there! I'm a new subscriber here! I really enjoyed the video! This was in the "recommended" section, and I liked the look of the thumbnail, and here I am.
There were pirates in the middle ages in the Mediterranean and Baltic sea. And in Asia. The golden age of piracy however started in the 17th century. Usually when people refer to pirates they refer to them of that age, but piracy existed long before and long past that age.
