Karl is spot on with teaching, I teach wing chun Kung Fu and having to teach a system really makes me have to break it down and ask why we do these things and then everyone learns different so it's like doing a Jigsaw puzzle where I have to find a way for the information to fit for another human being. Teaching takes my own knowledge to a much deeper level.
I'm not much into death metal, but just listening to Mr. Sanders was an awesome experience. They way he explains things in an understandable, but still profound and thoughtful way, really impressed me. I can really imagine him as a good teacher. And the way he explained the "saurian concept" with the crocodiles whose thoughts wander off like they're meditating or dreaming with open eyes, was astonishing. Thank you for that interview. I'm definitely going to look up more of his interviews.
Martial arts aren’t about being able to kick someone else’s ass. They’re about allowing another person kick their own ass while thinking they are about to kick yours. Their face might run into your hand at great speed, their neck might fall very, very quickly against your foot, their backside may find a unique and forceful route to the ground, etc. The art of fighting without fighting. I have gained ten times more respect from otherwise foes by not hitting them and blowing their minds than by attack. When they take several of their best strikes at you and you just smile their brains generally start to dribble out of their ears. I’m batting 1,000 on that one. Being small, weak, and dumb though, can’t help you there.
