This is the best Medusa hair I have ever seen on any doll makeover. I'm also glad she has no eyebrows. Everyone always sticks those big bushy things on anything, even animalistic or mythic characters. This Medusa is absolutely gorg[on]eous. 😍

Oh gosh, I never heard of this version of Medusa's story, that is upsetting. Poor thing. My favorite version is that Athena made Medusa a monster to protect her, not punish her. Medusa was constantly faced with unwanted advances from men, which made her feel unsafe. After Medusa got hurt by a man, Athena made her scary looking so people would leave her alone, and gave her the power to turn people to stone who might harm her. Your Medusa is stunning, I love how you made her face and body, and the gold paint and rhinestones are a nice touch.

She's perfect! I like Medusa's story. Nowadays, her face is used by r@p3 survivors to show power. Also I appreciated how you showed her, without any clothes: she's grown accustomed to her body and have learnt to appreciate it, without hiding it. I think it's pretty powerful Thank you for portraiting her so good!

The saddest part about Medusa is that over three thousand years later, it's usually the victims of sexual assault who are harassed, shamed and shunned. Her eyes and eyelashes, the gold in the snake-hair - I love the snakeskin foil you transferred to give her face more interest and texture.

I was thinking to myself “white eyeshadow is nice.. but it would be really cool if she had gold eyeshadow instead” and then you did it! YES

I like to think that each one of her snakes has a different personality and that they all interact with her and each other harmoniously to ease the depression and loneliness. She's awesome!

I've said this before and I say it again... Your skills are so great! Your amazing at painting, modifying, bead work, sewing skills...just WOW!! If your not already working professionally...you would be amazing at making costumes for skating, dancing, movies. And your dolls I imagine sell for alot of $$. I so love watching you create, so thank you for sharing your art and the journey to make art. I hope your future brings you the greatest opportunities to create and make money doing so. I loved greek mythology as a child and still do so I am quite familiar with the tale of Medusa. I was always angry at Athena for punishing Medusa and not Poseidon. And although her story is sad and heartbreaking, it has gotten a new meaning for me. As a women I know Medusas struggles so she has become a symbol of Power and freedom for me. Thank you for bringing her story to live through your dolls. 😊❤

Medusa is one of my favorite monsters ever and you did an amazing job creating her. I love what you did with the snakes and how they all have red gems in their mouths. The makeup you did for Medusa is amazing as well. Keep up the good work

I like how you knew the right story about Medusa - how she was an innocent vestal virgin of Athene and Poseidon raped Medusa in Athene's temple. Athene punished Medusa by turning her into the same creature as her immortal sisters and added an extra punch by cursing her eyes so any living thing who looked into her eyes was immediately turned to stone. She and her sisters moved to the farthest part of the known world to avoid people entirely but the gods decided Medusa had not been punished enough and sent heroes to kill her. All were turned to stone despite Medusa trying to avoid looking at them. Finally, a son of Zeus came, helped by the gods to kill her. Athene held on to her grudges and hated women in general. The doll is gorgeous and again, your design is exquisite! What an amazing faceup! I would have loved her in my artist repaint doll collection! I hope you kept her for yourself!

I've heard that women in the past, like from that time period, used Medusa to mark temples or homes that were safe for survivors and victims to turn to. I don't know how true it is but I'd like to think it is and that these women came together and supported each other, though in secret.

In one of them, Athena is actually pitying Medusa after what happened and gifts her the power to protect herself, freeing her from the detrimental effect of such beauty

I mistakenly watched the other video first, where you made the stand and her dress. So only now it came to my mind, why you decided, to not create Medusa as a monster, that she is known for! You are a very great artist, and a wonderful and kind hearted person obviously! In the story that I heard of Medusa, Poseidon even raped Medusa! And Athena thought, that Medusa seduced Poseidon intentionaly! And because of that Athena turned her into the snake monster. And I really like the thought, that for the girls that are harrassed and who didn't get justice, you turned your Medusa into a beautiful creature, that no one can touch, she even has a weapon and a head full of snakes! ;-) Thank you for your wonderful art!

i think that athena punishing medusa instead of poseidon is the perfect example of what women go through today. i personally believe some of the greek legends, and even if they were just stories, they do serve great lessons and i think people need to look into them more.

Always found Medusas story so sad and unjust ....to live her life alone as a creature and have to kill so many that hunted her...then eventually have her head cut off by Perseus and used as a weapon😡😭It is a good analogy how many victims of rape or violence are again violated by society and the justice system....as if looking a certain way makes them guilty. Its so infuriating

Athena did not do it as a punishment she did it to protect Medusa from the bad intentions of men because of her beauty.

There's another version of the legend of Medusa that says that Athena could have prevented Poseidon from raping her, but she was jealous of Medusa because Poseidon was attracted to her, so she chose not to, but punished her after she was raped, using the fact she was no longer a virgin as an excuse to do that to her. But. Poseidon impregnated Medusa, and when her head was eventually chopped off, Pegasus was born. To me, that seems like Medusa was reborn into something even more beautiful and became free and able to fly away from everyone who tortured and eventually killed her because they were really just evil. I feel like this legend is related to the story in the Bible about Jezebel, a daughter of a priest-king, who became a queen who controlled her husband Ahab, who apparently worshiped Baal. I believe Baal seems to be very similar to the devil. Anyway, Jezebel had a lot of characteristics of narcissism. The basic idea behind her religion was to sacrifice children to Baal, and the purpose of this was to be rewarded with wealth. They would sacrifice their children when they were faced with problems like no crops or war. I think maybe that's kind of the philosophy that has filtered down through time, and that some people are controlling narcissistic bullies and pick on others to the point of finding reasons to get rid of them or even kill them, because they think they're going to somehow benefit from that. I think there may even be people who secretly worship the devil because they are hoping to become rich from doing that, and they find passive aggressive ways to influence the early demise of their own kids or family members. Your Medusa doll is a work of art. I really like the jewels and the detail of your painting.

please know that the version of medusas story you told is the ovid version, ovid was Roman and wanted to make the gods look bad. In the Greek version, she was born with the snakes. She was just described as being mortal.

I feel bad for Medusa because she was raped by Poseidon! And Athena knew that but she couldn't step to Poseidon because he is a God so she decided to punish Medusa instead. It was a total injustice!

Such a beautiful doll. Athena is one of my least favorite goddesses because despite being a virgin goddess, she easily shamed women for actions and even transformed many of them for any sort of slight against her.
