These highlights are so Sinner-centered. There were many moments where Medvedev made amazing shots and won points. Media still underrepresents Medvedev as a good player, who in fact he is.
Sinner has stamina issue ever since French Open. In this match Sinner began to struggle in set 2, worsen in set 3, better in set 4 while Medvedev touched physical bottom. Medvedev recovered in set 5 while Sinner was still struggling. If Sinner does not solve his stamina issue, he stands no chance against Alcaraz or even Djokovic.
Simply unprofessional video editing. Almost no points for Medvedev? Seeing the summary one could assume Sinner won the race. And why the heck do these Wimbledon videos cut out the handshake at the net every time? This is what finishes the match, not the statistic table. Better engage professional people for video editing.
Well thats obviously because the more aggressive player hits more highlight shots and winners. Medvedev is defensive and wins a lot of point on opponent errors.
The quality of matches from Sinner I find to be low, even when he won the AO - mentally he is great and I that is what matters the most in tennis. But wow - since Nadal stopped being a contender the level in ATP went downhill.
This is not uncommon. Tennis media are marketing Sinner/Alcaraz as the new Federer/Nadal so they promote them constantly. This is not unlike the Shelton/Djokovic highlights from US open last year, etc., etc.
Medvedev doesn't advertise Nike, Rolex or IBM. Wimbledon is their tournament. Also, Medvedev is not Western European. Kinda understandable for not showing him as main protagonist.
@@aleksandarcvetkovic5436I don’t disagree. Rolex etc can do all their commercials and other promotions with their sponsored players etc and that’s totally cool, it’s just sad that a simple highlight reel can be so skewed.
I'm a Sinner fan and I've never heard anyone call Medvedev overhyped. Hell if anything I remember other Sinner fans commentating they didn't want to see him reach the finals during the Australian Open as he could've beaten Jannik (which he very nearly did)
I also am a Sinner fan and have great respect for Medvedev. Agreed, highlights never show the story of a match. They don't show that Jannik was quite ill for example. But that is to take nothing from Daniil who played a great match.
People seem to forget that meddy actually used to challenge Rafa and Novak for the GS titles before Senner appeared in top 10. So this win is not a suprise for the people who know what medvedev is capable of. He is on Senner,Alcaraz level if not better when in top shape.
Not even close. Medvedev is a counter attacker that base his game on pure metronomic regularity and small tactical adjustments, but he lacks power and overall hand skill compared with Sinner and most importantly Alcaraz. I know he's one of the best, but when all 3 performs at their best, Alcaraz is above both.
@@deusexmachina9776 I do think Alcaraz is better than Medvedev, but Medvedev has no shame losing to Alcaraz in a slam. Djokovic lost to him as well. Alcaraz and sinner aren’t up there with big 3 in their primes , not yet for Alcaraz at least, but Medvedev losing to those two in a slam isn’t anything to be ashamed of at all, but he’s still a dangerous opponent
@@marchvertochko0056He made up for it with his ace count though and overall his first serve percentage really kept him from getting broken for half the match
I am glad that Medvedev won this match and the editor of the highlights video gets fired . The scorecard and the result is completely opposite to what the video suggests . A poor and shady editing . Zero marks
I hoped, that this year WTA/ATP/ITF, would stop this nonsense of mixing sport with politics. Every player should have right to play under her/his country's flag. One cannot choose the country of one's birth. Appointing "flag police" at tennis tournaments is not even childish... it was embarrassing and insane... Wars are run by politicians not sportsmen/sportswomen. Why during the invasion of Iraq, 20 year bombing of Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen and Pakistan not to mention the genocidal Vietnam war US, Australian, UK... athletes were allowed to compete under their national flag? USA invaded Iraq in 2003 and yet their flag was still allowed at the World Cup 2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa despite the fact they were still in Iraq. Either ban ALL flags of countries who go to war, or don't ban any of them. Interestingly enough Israeli tennis players Mika Buchnik and Guy Sasson are allowed to play under the national flag in AO 2024 despite the policy of their government towards Palestinians in Gaza. *** All wars are equal, but some wars are more equal than others.
@@alejandrorocker907 typical Latin narcissist comment - nobody even mentioned Alcaraz. there are other players besides 'your' Alcaraz who are grunters - and equally annoying. Djokovic for example , but many others as well. Grunting should be outlawed as 'hindrance'
Ataman Medvedev Great tennis player and good man as well. My favourite along Novak, I'm glad I live in the era of Ataman Medvedev and Novak, my third favourite tennis player is Rublev.
For those who want to say Sinner was injured, stop. Sinner being gassed and feeling dizzy in the 3rd set is not an injury, he just couldn't handle the intensity of the match. The first two sets he was fine physically and he also won the 4th set. This isn't the first time this happened. Last year vs Zverev, he had cramps, Alcaraz was moving him around side to side at Roland Garros, and Medvedev did the same thing today against Alcaraz. Sinner clearly hates running so much. He's the type of player where he likes to be in full control and not constantly running so much. This is why he is not better than Alcaraz. Sinner is 6-8 in 5 set matches while Alcaraz is 12-1, which tells me Alcaraz has superior physical conditioning
Sinner had the better stat line for the most part, including less UEs and more winners. Medvedev was better on key points tho. Kudos to him for breaking the losing streak against Sinner and making the semis
Weird "highlight" video. Showed 17 total points and 12 of them were points Sinner won, even though Medvedev won the match. Tennis media is so blatantly skewed. Sad.
@@iamdaliborI dont know. I tallied with a piece of paper and pencil while watching so I should be close. But I’m not infallible either. Either way it’s obvious the points shows are skewed
He did it a lot more before 2019, but as soon is he started to play more challenging opponents he stopped using it, but yeah, he used to serve like this a lot more
Medvedev is an excellent player, a true wild card, capable of beating anyone in the tournament. It certainly looks like the media & Wimbledon were looking for a Sinner/ Alcaraz match judging from these highlights. Daniil's dangerous, a special opponent who's always tough on anyone.
Med changed his tactics. He didn't return 20 meters from the baseline, so Sinner could not serve and volley often. If Med keeps up his return tactics, it won't be that easy for Alcaraz.
Daniil can still run Jannik around ragged and exhausted like the old days. So there's still a match-up issue for Sinner there from a physicality standpoint, and even Daniil said it himself that apart from one of those past 5 straight losses, they were competitive matches and half of them where he was on fumes after a long season last year. The rest of it was purely mental and belief in the important moments which he lacked. That combined with Sinner's improvements to hang tough with his game and stamina, this is very much an even match-up. As close to 50-50 as it gets, despite their strange periodically lopsided run of match wins in their head-to-head record.
