It was believed by Hmong elders prior to the 80's that the Hmong in China were long persecuted and have all since been assimilated or died! Just a couple years before this concert, the Hmong communities in the US, Laos, and Thailand were stunned to learned that there were still Hmong people living in China. Scholars like Dr. Yang Dao and others were able to slowly and cautiously visit China in the mid/late 80's when Deng Xiaoping opened China's doors. They brought back wondrous news of the approximately 3 million Hmong that still lived and strive there. One of the early evidence of this revelation was Hmong song bird, Mim Hang.
Love this video. Thanks for sharing. Been watching when I was 12. What's the song that the 3 Hmong girls dance to at the indoor party the last song that they dance to. I love that song when I was first watching this video long ago but didn't know who the guy singer was til this day I still don't know. Please share if you do know the guy. Thanks
