I don't mind the new dudes, but like who's been saying we need young guys? i swear the last time someone asked for a young opinion Damone said AZ was trash. Nipped that shit right in the bud.
no one really said they NEED young guys. Ken was searching for interns to help out with behind the scenes work and as stated in a previous video Rod is sort of showing them how to do video work. Being that the DEHH guys are all pretty chill, it's no surprise they invited them on for the review. It is pretty good to have a range of age and taste tho
Processingh ...whats so bad about that tho? Not every artist from the 90s is some god tier rapper. I don’t agree personally cause I don’t know enough about AZ to say if he’s trash or not but Damone is entitled to that opinion.
Coming from someone who hasn't listened to the album, besides the track with Jay, I think you guys hit the nail on the head. This gave me heavy flashbacks to YG's "My Krazy Life", where the allure of the project was how introspective YG was. Meanwhile "Championships" was the literal antithesis to that. Nothing about YG made me want to listen to "My Krazy Life"; Not Toot it N Boot It (I know it wasn't on the album but I hated that song so much), not DJ Mustard, none of the singles, but all the reviews that positively commented on the introspection and YG taking to the time go deeper made me listen to that project. Meanwhile, Everything around "Championships" made me want to listen; I never listened to his albums but I always loved the energy he had, The conviction and everything he's taken the time to do since then is inspiring, and he does his thing on the track with Jay, but no one's commenting on this project in a way that catches my ear. The potential's there but man...
I started listening more to Meek Mill when I started go out and running and the effect is totally different. When I go out and run I need motivating music and he makes good motivating stuff so I stopped disliking his music and became a fan
Dude I think this is the difference between someone who likes meek and someone who doesn't. He's definitely one of if not the best motivational rapper out. His music can make me focus, gets me emotional at times and definitely motivates me. I think it's a great album.
Dang y’all unusually late on this one lol.Always down for a review from the masters though.I thought it was his best so far but it could have been trimmed down.
Daniel Hill it’s the analysis that doesn’t make sense. The dude with braids said everything was typical and not interesting until on me, when meek clearly expanded on trauma and uptown vibes. He sound like a typical hater. Especially since if anything on me would be the typical meek song
@@King_Kunta I totally agree. Meeks struggle with prison and the streets and just trying to always stay out the gutter and the struggle are even sprinkled in the intro. Definitely trauma has heavy subject matter. What's free has heavy subject matter. Respect the game, championships, oodles and noodles, 100 summers, cold hearted. I feel as though they didn't really listen to the album to say " he missed his mark".
It’s crazy how modest media be soooooo right but myke argues so confidently 😂😂 like Ross is a good artist it’s not even a question..yes a popular one..but a good artist
"Just for poppin' a wheelie, my people march in the city From a cell to a chopper, view from the top of the city" Yeah Hov had the best verse on the album but Meek spit a damn scorcher there too.
Did yall review his last album? Cuz he def had hype songs and concious type songs on the last album. Heavy heart, young black of america and we ball.. Plus he had 3 joints for ladies. (Overall i liked last album better)
Did y’all even listen to the whole album bc he was talking some real shit on most of the album than he added a couple that would be played in parties or the club n some chill ass music that u just vibe to
Yea I was expecting a good album from Meek after he got out. But yea if he would have had something like Joey Bada$$ last album addressing the legal system would have been dope.
Loved the album, but didn’t love the features besides Fab and Jay. I wanted to hear more spitters on these hard beats, like T.I., Freddie Gibbs, Eminem, Big krit
Intro Trauma Respect the Game What's Free Oodles o Noodles Babies Championships Cold Hearted II 100 Summers I wish the album had more of that vibe. Meek shines best when he gives you that dark introspective Philly rap. That's his identity and who he is at his core. I agree with Ken and Myke. Meek missed his chance to cement himself with this album. Album was dope but it was a typical mainstream record. Meek suffers from the same problem his mentor Ross has. He’s best rapping on soulful production about introspective music or street shit. Meek has the blueprint to a masterpiece. He just doesn’t have the A&R or the desire to do it similar to rappers like Jadakiss & Fabolous. I was reading an IG post that Irv Gotti made about Meek. Irv wanted Meek to make similar music to Pac/DMX. That’s the type of lane Meek needs to be in. He’s a street poet. The Meek from the Hot 97 freestyle, the Ice Cream freestyle, the HHS1987 freestyle is him. You that dirty young bull with the nappy braids from Philly. Nothing you make is suppposed to be happy. Hell Beanie Sigel as grimy as he did Meek was lowkey dropping a lot of gems on him on where to take his music. Instead he’s either making club joints or these “bosses got feelings too type tracks” He still stuck in that 50 Cent GRODT/Jay Z Blueprint album model that says you have to have a song for everybody. Meek needs to make that album telling the story of the cornerboy from North Philly, 21st & Berks. Get in the studio with Jahlil Beats, The Beat Bully, & Black Metaphor and wax poetic about the broken dreams of black people in Philadelphia. Tell that story about you freestyling on the corners, talk about the anxiety of raising your sister as a teenager, talk about how Strawberry Mansion failed to teach you anything like every urban school system in America, talk about life in your first bid in prison, tell the story about how you got beat by the cops, talk about how you were the neglected child raised by the OGs in your neighborhood, talk about your dead homies, talk about how you watched friends mothers turn into junkies. Talk about that anxiety about making your first sale and the disappointment. Talk about how it felt when you first held a gun as a teen. Meek got a story that can last him the rest of his career. He just got to recognize it. One of my favorite songs by Meek is Polo & Shell Tops. I loved that song because he was able to transport me to the feeling of being a teenager fiending for some new gear. That’s the music he needs to make.
Meek doesn’t need a full length album of introspective tracks. That’s not going to help him grow. His overall fan-base is perfectly content with the mix of tracks. He’s been using this formula for years now and he’s only getting bigger.
Yea but his music is not the X factor of him getting bigger it’s his outside ventures and social acts..I can see where they’re coming from if he wants to improve as a artist he has to experiment and not be comfortable with just street turn up shit and a few introspective tracks here and there
F.L.O.W. Yea that’s fax the more I listen to it it’s clear the best songs are at the start later he got more girls song and party shit it was still good tho
The condensed Championships introspective Meek mill album that you wanted goes in this track list order. You're Welcome. Make the playlist. Run Time about 50 mins 1, 2 ,3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, 18, 13, 14, "Young Black American" (Yes i know) and 19.
@@mesutozil9486 I hope so!!! def a top 5 of the year, better yet top 3 of the list, ur sleepin if its not on there! and also they gotta do a Mick Jenkins review!!! he dropped some serious heat
Meek Mill's brand is that of a introspective street poet! His music is for motivational purposes. How can the old head disrespect Meek Mill and glorify 21 savage? Meek Mill survived the odds and returned to the top.
@Daniel Hill Nah bro I feel you, I waited a whole week after to listen, but I heard nothing but praise for this and I didnt get it. It was like I listened to a whole other album.
Ain't this some bullshit they bought the replacement players for my fellow Philly nigga but watch when they Recap Big Draco nonsense they have the full crew
