A solution for it getting scratched easily... buy polyurethane. It comes in matte, semi gloss, or gloss and after fixing those scratches put a few coats of poly on it. Sand with fine sand paper between coats to knock down any bubbles or high spots from dust. It'll be the equivalent to sleeving your cards. :) Very nice review. I'm building my own from maple plywood. Just waiting for the weather to warm up and deciding on a good size. What are the dimensions of the well area? Looks to be about 3x5 feet-ish. I was thinking of going 3'9" by 5 or 6 ft. Still undecided because if you have 4 players, I'd like everyone to have a side. But 2 players would need really long arms. Arms like the guy in Fantastic Four. Lol

Good tip! On the KS they now offer larger play area sizes as well. My issue, and why I want a second table, is to play Warhammer. That is usually played on a 4'x6' play area. The main thing though for gaming I feel, is width. As I show, I can't fit my Overlord tray in front of the map for Conan on this (37" BTW and 61" long)

The scratches and scuff marks would bother me to no end. I would rather pay more and have a table that is resistant than not. They couldn't put a more protective layer of coating on it? Really? Woodworking isn't my expertise.

doesnt look like it has any poly on it at all. that is pretty much a must for any wood furniture of any kind. for the price of the table they could have at least sprayed a thin layer of poly on it.

I'll look into doing it myself after I get a marker on the scratches.

The vault is 37” x 61” and 2” deep. Conan is a table hog. The height is 31” (32” with topper). That's too high. Most card tables are only 28”, & dining tables are typically 30”. I’d be tempted to cut a couple of inches off the legs. And I agree with the comment about hitting this table with a urethane finish to protect it from scratches. That's my policy for practically all furniture I buy. The biggest con: the table now starts at $2000, and it doesn't even have cup holders.

This table is perfect for my everyday use. It was interesting to see your negatives, as for me they were seen as positives. The depth of the well seems just right because I have no plans to store a game underneath the topper and 4 inches is just uncomfortable for me. Regarding scratches, I believe they stated that they offer touch up paint for free in reply to a comment on the campaign. Obviously it would be nice to not scratch at all, but life happens. The price was a super selling point for me as well. Not only did I need a dining table in general, but the fact that it could operate as both gaming and dining using the topper really justified the cost. I do have concerns about the small crack you pointed out on the topper as I plan taking it on an off frequently, so here’s hoping that holds up. In the event it doesn’t, I fully trust Game Theory to make it right in some manner as they have been nothing but receptive to ideas and feedback. My opinion could change when I eventually receive this table, but every interaction I have seen between Game Theory and customers, myself included, has been nothing but stellar and I am happy to support a company that values what people truly want.

I love the thumbnail says “Only”. Better than another ad that suggested the game table as an heirloom: read- it’s so expensive even your kids will be paying off the debt…and oh, you’ll never let your kids eat on it. Lol
@TheKingofAverage

Lol right? This is priced like a 5th of what some tables close before adding attachments even.

go to your local carpenter and let him make a table for you. it will cost maybe half the price and no shipping. and you do something for your local companies.

Wonder how this table will stack up to the Gwen. Thanks for the in-depth review. Ill save my motney on this one and maybe look more at the Game topper company with legs.

I just have 2 ikea extendable tables and 2 playmats on top
@TheKingofAverage
@TheKingofAverage Год назад
why the two playmats?
@johntan4997
@johntan4997 Год назад
@@TheKingofAverage Well, the tables extend to total space of 120cm x 140cm, sadly there isn't any singular playmat that is large enough for the whole thing.

Thanks for the review. The only way you’ll get away from scratching on a dark wood game board table is by getting the ones with natural wood color. As soon as you used a stained table it’s going to happen a lot. Now doing that also raises the price considerably. It goes back to, you get what you pay for. If you want to save money, then it’s something you’ll need to accept. I can speak for the Wyrmwood Wenge tables. Been using mine a while and have zero scratches on them.
@zenster1097
@zenster1097 Год назад
A stain is different than dark wood. I believe there is protective coating you can do. It's probably why it's so cheap tbs.
@TheKingofAverage
@TheKingofAverage Год назад
Indeed! I imagine how hard the wood is also matters right? Harder would won't scratch as easily I'd think.

Yeah sucks that shipping for these tables almost always ruins the deal.

Said it when they announced it and I´ll say it again, there are better tables for half the price. It´s not worth it.

Like an actual gaming table with the padded well? If so I'd love a link! I thought this was quite cheap compared to others but would like to look into alternatives if there are some.
