Cyril Despres prepares for Dakar 2013 - will he be the one to win the fight against the desert yet again? After winning the Dakar in 2012, he now has to focus on the new challenge again and with the victory of the "Rallye Oilibya Maroc" - which is the last one before Dakar in the seasons' schedule - he proved to be well prepared.

When you fight for victory in that kind of race, you can't lost any second to help another guy if his life is not in danger. The portuguese rider was not fighting for victory, so for him, minutes lost where not important. But I'm sure that after the arrival, Cyril went to thank him.

i wouldn't call him a cheater....but i totally agree with you in the coma thing!!!! after getting stuck in the mud(2012) a portuguese rider help him out and cyril got back to the race without helping the rider that got him out of the mud....

It is a rally...being more upright helps you if you are riding for hours and that too for days over rough terrain...and considering that it carries loads of fuel (2 separate tank), water, navigation system, certain modifications are necessary...a dirt bike is more unstable and more suitable for sharp turns and accelerations, and it will surely run out of fuel...
