Thankyou for explaining they are not a dog you can’t walk 1hr day and forget. My heeler required 4 -6hrs a day of exercise up to 6 yrs old. He’s now 11yrs and still requires 2hrs a day minimum. He will chase anything with wheels or electric motors FYI. You are so blessed to have Aries in your world and he is so blessed to have a loving mother take such loving care and responsibility for him. Enjoy the many stages of puppy.🌈
My family had a blue heeler/border collie mix growing up. Smartest, bravest, and most athletic dog I’ve ever known. Aries is absolutely stunning! He’s a lucky pup to have you as his mama 💜
So precious!!!! Aries is freaking ADORABLE!!! Makes me miss my chi mini pin mix who has been missing since 12-31-16, and whom I raised as a puppy. I love seeing these vids, Kate. You have the loveliest & most soothing energy .💖
Love your Aries and you together. I was willed my son’s rescue Weimaraner (age 4 or so) when my son died, and I knew very little about the breed. Neko changed my life completely for the better, so when he died 5 1/2 years later, I realized how different from all my other beloved dogs he was. He took me around the block (pun intended) and gave me every bit as much as I gave him. I feel deeply grateful for that experience.
Yes, they’re like a family member! The smart one! They’re scary smart AND opinionated. We loved ours too! When we lost ours, we went to a standard poodle. He’s awesome too. I think dogs are a bit, just a little, better than humans. Let’s see more of him!!!
O m g He’s too cute and tiny…. I’d say a quarter of the size of the one we owed. Same colors. Such a sweet dog but needyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy So precious 💜🖖🏼😊💜💜💜💜💜💜🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🪿🪿🪿🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🥰🧐☺️
I love how intuned you are with Aries, that's so important. My Rottie, was a rottweiler with a stubby tail. The mom was a cattledog. She looked mainly rottie (110lbs). She was super smart and very independent. She would herd the running dogs at the dog park lol. I wouldn't play rough with her or play tug o war. She was the sweetest and just had great instincts.
He’s Australian so you should describe him in kilos and centimetres! They are beautiful, loyal dogs with great protection instincts. He is a darling! Congratulations from Australia 🇦🇺
Beautiful dog I've had 2 -1/2 mixes. A full Dalmatian with a Blue healer and a full Boxer mixed with Red healer. The 1st one was the original leader of the pac. She lived 16 years looked after my 4 children and any other animals we bring in was absolutely wonderful and good tempered. The red healer mix came in when she was about 7 and he was magnificent for keeping coyotes away from the yard and we used to call him MA MA dog because he also looked after any kitten's puppies that we ever bring in lived 14 years longer than most boxer mixes should live. Kids loved him and some of the cats missed him when he passed. Loved the mix of both of them because they were great with my children, and so instinctually intelligent. I'm sure you'll have many years of joy with this one
I enjoyed learning more about Aries 💕🐶 I tend to just hold my hand out when a dog gets close to me, so it can decide if it wants to be pet or not. Sometimes they just want to sniff and sometimes they won't let me leave because they "never get petted at home" if you believe them 😂
I’m not saying you’re wrong but in general I think that more than straight socialization for a heeler is learning to train their energy into obedience training. Heelers have great spatial awareness and their actions will fit the space. They are also extremely protective of their person, so mostly it’s a matter of teaching them that you’re in charge. Not this “I’m the alpha” bull, but instead that you’re happiest when they follow your commands and that you have very strict boundaries on things you’d consider unacceptable.
Yes. Socialization for cattle dogs is super important if you live in the city or suburbs. They have an instinct to keep strangers away and they can look scary. My boy loves everyone….. unless you get close to my home or work. Very very very good guard dogs.
